I can’t really blame him. People break down barriers to concerts and overcrowd the field all the time. Not only that, but you’re asking a majority inexperienced concert goers to mosh in an overcrowded field. Mix the overheating with overcrowding plus violent moshing and you get a recipe for disaster. While Travis Scott should’ve had a plan B in the very likely case people tried breaking the barriers, he can’t really assess the damage and intervene. He is the performer; it’s not his job to oversee the safety of the attendees. There are a ton of staffers involved with these events that are supposed to help prevent a tragedy like this. It shouldn’t be left to the entertainment to do the job of security/medical.

Travis actively encourages breaking down barriers, dangerous mosh pits and bad behaviour. He was clearly aware of what was going on, although probably not to the extent that it went to, but also he needed the organisers who may have been aware of what was going on to tell him to stop. He's definitely partly responsible.

The guy was singing “yeah” from a tower looking down on a lifeless body being carried off to the side. There were ambulances with their lights on driving through the crowd and his fans were jumping on them. He mocked an audience member when he distinctly heard someone screaming to stop the show. His camera crew who have radio coms ignored the pleas of two people willing enough to climb the tower. Grab the camera to stop him from filming screaming someone is dying out there. And they wouldnt even look at them. They closed all games and rides to funnel everyone to the stage knowing the venue could not handle that many people surging to one place. You missed your mark here. At past shows he encouraged fans to jump from 3 stories up into crowds. Theres a trend fellas. And you’re missing it. An audience member passing out at a comedy show and this are two very different things. Pin that

I remember attending Rockville a few years ago, a crowd surfer cracked his head open and the lead singer noticed so he stopped the entire performance to let the medics through and get him out of the crowd. I’m not saying all is to blame on Travis, but it should be a clue that when there’s ambulances and bodies getting dragged out, it’s ok to stop and let them through safely. The artist has the biggest influence on the crowd, it’s ok to stop a performance.

As a metal head, I've lived in actual mosh pits for years. Not once have I ever felt unsafe in or around a pit. Every single person in that pit is there for fun but we also know how dangerous it can be. We help each other out. Some one gets knocked down, 3 of us stop to help them back up. Some falls unconscious, the pit stops and everyone turns to help. Period. There is no middle ground. After hearing this rendition and others like it, makes me sick to my stomach hearing that these people just kept partying and taking pictures and videos. I want to thank and give a shout out to everyone that actually did help in some way. For the rest of you, I hope this shit haunts your dreams for the rest of your lives. Metal literally has the wall of death when kids charge at eachother and circle pits but people don't die. There's an etiquette and mutual understanding that you help your fellow man. Metal has been successfully 'raging' for years but if you behaved like a selfish twat it wouldn't be tolerated by people around you and the performers would shame you on stage, stop the show if it went too far. The music was deliberately cathartic and angry and yet there was a sense that you were all in it together as a crowd. So sad that people couldn't give a shit including Travis tbh🤷

The rap community taking from metal culture without adopting all the safety precautions. And I disagree. There are many instances where performers have full command of their audience. They take breaks when things get out of hand to redirect all that energy. It was Travis’ responsibility to stay alert and control his stage, by extension the crowd. He’s not entirely to blame, but his incompetence cost many lives. I don’t think this has been the first time either. Travis feeds off of this energy and encourages his fans to behave irresponsibly. He’s been known to incite riots. Edit: I just watched the TMZ footage. Travis could clearly see an ambulance stuck in the middle of the crowd. That’s rather unusual, and any sensible person would’ve stopped for a moment and asked people to make way. He simply didn’t care.

Secondly, it will be argued it court, about breach of duty. What duty did Travis Scott have to each and every crowd goer? Something is harder to prove behind a preponderance of evidence when in court.

If a girl wants to pit with guys its her right to do so as long as no guy inappropriately touches her, that's why before covid girls in different shows that would make their own girl moshpits and if a guy we're to enter it he would get dragged out.

You should look into it if you haven't heard about it before it's really interesting and so is the backstory behind how it became like that.

They should learn from Metal festivals. We have way more aggressive crowds but everyone is constantly vigilant about the people around due to such issues. There are a ton of unspoken rules to follow to keep things civil and those who don't abide are instantly kicked out. The bands themselves are also quite vigilant. These new crowds are extremely selfish and its all about an individual's fun time but Metal festivals are always underlined by a sense of unity and companionship where everyone enjoys the event together which, in turn, allows the individuals the space to have their own unique experiences as well.

If they were, it was most of the time because of substance abuse or something that has to do with a pre-existing medical condition. I am not even exaggerating in saying that in the pit, sometimes, you are ABOUT to fall and you don't even have the time to hit the floor that some dudes pick you back up. It's all about having fun, letting out aggression while keeping people around you safe. I've also seen a few security guards just deck crowd killers and over-enthusiastic moshers.

In that pathway a girl was crying in pain and a dude was helping her to get out As soon as I saw it I helped the crowd to make a wall and split the crowd in 2 for 30 seconds, giving them the time to pass by safely I have such story for almost every concert I went to Metal crowds are just different, we trully care about the overall security of the place I once spoke to a guard and he told me that he prefered guarding metal concerts Because aside from the people crowd surfing, nothing happens, not a fight, nada

The lights were on emergency vehicles and people were jumping on them, you can see that from the stage. It was also his festival, so it was his responsibility to adequately voice what he wants to happen if there is a safety concern. He should have told the people that if it ever gets to the point where lives are in danger to stop the show. It’s also his job to guide the crowd. I’ve been at huge concerts where it gets too rowdy and the artist on stage will address the crowd. Yes, people pass out all the time at concerts, but this type of behavior, a complete disregard for human well-being and life, is not new for a Travis Scott show. From the view point of someone who was there I totally agree with what the guy in the hoody said, hell is an accurate description of the environment that night, i myself got knocked over twice and im 6'3 200lb young and healthy etc. but none of that mattered i got knocked down while trying to help other people up when i reached up for help people looked me dead in my eye and did nothing so i had to grab at the edges of shirts or whatever i could reach and claw my way up, after that i desperately started pushing my way out of the crowd on my way out i saw many unconscious people some of them were being resuscitated with cpr, some werent moving at all, mind you all of this was long before the announcement you see travis making in the video or the appearance of the ambulances or any type of response by the security team , any claims made by hpd/security about "fast response" or that the surge started "in a manner of minutes" are cap. When it started there were many chants going to stop the show as well as people screaming for medics, but no help came and it seemed as if no officials were monitoring the situation, even after the ambulances arrived travis did not stop performing and for me personally that was one of the most grim and heartbreaking things i've ever witnessed. As far as people saying there's no one to blame i strongly disagree the planners of the event failed to create effective protocols for monitoring the conditions in the crowd and did not create safe exit routes for injured/distressed people, or properly train their staff to administer cpr or check pulse etc. Another factor in play was that for most people it was next to impossible to get a cellphone signal inside the festival so communication went out the window. Not to mention that the field itself seemed way too small to accommodate everyone there and was setup in a way that made it hard to exit once you were in. To sum it up all these factors created the perfect conditions to create our own little piece of hell on earth.

He is too big of a celebrity to have not been more prepared for his event(seasoned security, medics, etc). I mean thank god there wasn't a fire or a mass shooting! There was no efficient way for ppl to get out in the event of something happening. Him and his girl are wayyy too well off, it wasn't planned out, and he showed a complete disregard for his fans. I would give Travis Scott the benefit of doubt if he hadn’t been involved with tweeting his fanbase of rushing the stage once before at other festivals while a current act on the bill is starting to finish their set. There were people being trampled back at his 2019 Astro show. How about when you see paramedics attempting to reach passed out and injured people you just talk to the crowd, stop the music and let the paramedics reach the injured people promptly and safely! Imagine being a EMT in that moment and you got hundreds within immediate view, of people blocking your way dancing and jumping on your vehicle while Sicko Mode is playing! It’s not all his fault but when this happened before and you didn’t stop the music at least at the sight of paramedics attempting to get through and you’re signing the most checks at this event, you’re just as culpable as the venue security for this.

Even if Travis knew 100% what was going on and didn't stop singing despite knowing that people were dying, he doesn't deserve ALL the blame, because the SECURITY and venue should have taken action. They have the power to make him stop his set, and tell him to calm the crowd down. They could've literally muted his mic, and spoken directly to the crowd using a different mic. I would also like to add that the concert goers played their part in this as well. I've worked many concerts and festivals, and I know that the performers don't really have an overview of what's going on in the crowd, and are often so into their "performance mode" that it would be more difficult to deal with a situation like this in the first place. Travis deserves backlash, no doubt, but whomever was responsible for this booking is really to blame. Also, that venue should've never been approved for THAT many people, but I assume you have different rules and regulations in the states. All in all, this was an avoidable tragedy.

I’m a hungarian girl, in here we don’t have this kind of huge concerts, so my oppinion might be not the most accurate to this situation, but I have to write it anyway. He should have stopped the concert. There are plenty of videos of him clearly seeing the ambulance in the middle of the crowd, people climbing up to stage begging him to stop and help the fans. He encouraged his fans “the wild ones” to run to the festival without tickets, disregarding every safety regulation. He encouraged the crowd to go even wilder after clearly seeing the chaos and hell that was unfolding. There were plenty people who acted like real humans, trying to save people, trying to get some help and their scream didn’t find listenning ears. There was a girl climbing up to the camera man asking him to do something, cause people are dying and he threathened her that he would push her off the tower. And meanwhile this whole family, the whole shitshow said that they would send prayers??? How can they get away with this shit? Those videos were the scariest things for me, it showed me what kind of people are the ones society worships, little girls and boys try to be like them. This is truly horrible, and I really wish to see people actually talk about this event not as an unfortunate tragedy, but something that could have been avoided if the “artist” and the organizers treated people as humans rather than paying animals.

I check 5 things before any concert. - Albums (The moods the Artist is trying to provoke.) - Star Power (How popular are they and how do the fans treat them, this is important cause you can get a guideline of how a mass crowd reacts based on how people act one on one. Do they talk to the artist like a normal human overall, or are the a deity.) - Venue (What's the capacity location and is it indoor or outdoor.) - Live Concert (What does the artist act like during shows.) - Listeners (Am I able to hear a interview of listeners thoughts on the artists, this lets me see a general consensus what type of people might be there.) At that point I can decide where It's fits my comfortability for me to be at the concert (as a 6 foot 170lb male), if I decide to go after checking those things. I've gone to concerts where I started my way in the middle and pushed up to the front because I deemed it safe enough to be up on the action. Even in those situations I've watched a girl almost get stomped out as I pulled her up and stuck out my elbows to giver her breathing room from a chest to chest packed floor venue. People move and act without caution as if they are untouchable. If the careful person can bite the bullet so can you. That being said Travis insights nutso stuff at his concerts, stuff that just shouldn't be happening, Only way I'd go to a Travis concert is if I was in the mid back area or it was a smaller venue.

You don't need to be hyped up to get overventilation here, the body heat from the over capacity was enough without being hyped up. three people cuddling up to warm themselves in a cold weather is enough to keep them from freezing to death, now imagine 50K during summer. I was part of a crowd like this once, years ago. Big Day Out, 1997. Tens of thousands of people. Soundgarden, The Prodigy, Aphex Twins and The Offspring were in the lineup, so it was packed. It was a very hot day too -- high 30s (celsius), no shade. In the crowd it was much hotter, it was a sweaty furnace. Girls were freaking out hysterically at times but unable to get out. Voices called to them trying to calm them down. People were shoving back and forth like tides. Some were shoving harder than necessary in what I read as blind anger and fear. It had nothing to do with the music from what I could tell. At that stage I don't think anyone was even listening to the music. It was scary. Claustrophobic as hell, and I'm not even claustrophobic. I was a very young man in good physical condition and it still scared me. You could barely breathe, firstly because it seemed that the air had already been breathed by 100 other people and secondly because you were sometimes squeezed so tightly that it was a battle just to get enough space around your ribs to take a breath. Leaving wasn't an option, at least not where I was. Trying to push your way out would require actually crushing other people. You could literally lift your feet off the ground and be carried along by the crowd. I did that a few times to ride out a surge, out of necessity more than choice. It wasn't a reliable option though. Sometimes I couldn't do that and the surge was too fast or I tripped on someone's foot or leg or slipped on something -- a dropped water bottle or slippery grass. I remember a couple of times I lost my footing and started to go down. 3 or 4 hands _immediately_ reached out to grab me and hold me up. Thank god for those anonymous people because I doubt I would've survived falling. I'm amazed nobody died that day. I guess people everywhere in the crowd were looking out for each other the way they were looking out for me, and the way I started looking out for those around me. I also saw water bottles passed across the crowd to people who were crying out for water. No hope of getting those bottles back, and nobody would even know who'd given them. Those little moments of altruism restore your hope for humanity a bit. As soon as the press eased enough that I could get out without hurting anyone I immediately did so. I've never been to an event like that since. So I don't know if people in Current Year still look out for each other like they did for me. I assumed they did but I guess they don't, not always at least.

This sounds utterly terrifying. A couple of people described the crowd surge at the concert exactly like what you went through - crushed so you couldn't expand your lungs, had to move with the crowd like liquid or risk falling, no way out, etc. This was a perfect storm of bad decisions from top to bottom: from Travis (telling people to jump gates and rush the stage before the concert), to the event staff (didn't staff for it, didn't make Travis to stop the concert), to the concert goers who had no idea how to act.

Travis Scott has been in trouble for this before. He also encourages this behavior. You can see videos of it and see him promoting it as well. Including telling fans BEFOREHAND that they should rush the gates and push through security. He's also promoted having riots at his events. And at a previous event he told people to jump from balconies, the people below would catch them, so someone was shoved off and they carried his paralyzed body onto the stage. There was a lawsuit but I'm unsure how it panned out. He's also been in the process of deleting tweets where he encouraged people before the show to rush in and run through security. Unfortunately for the promos he used previous footage of them doing it at another show. Dude has a history of this and even saw it happening at the show and ignored it. Legit, he's a piece of shit. All of this can be found easily in articles and videos. Also by searching articles about previous shows. It's also addressed in articles about this event. He also shares a heavy, heavy blame here.

I'm sorry those people jumping on top of the ambulance are a different type of evil. Travis knew, his team and crew knew but none of them cared enough to stop the show it's absolutely diabolical.

Honestly this whole thing is so weird it makes me wonder if there is a spiritual component to it. I think a lot of people were using drugs snd alcohol and that makes the whole thing more sinister, it’s like they were under the influence of something truly evil. No humanity

@@devol3829 wrong, there is a evil spirit world around us that many people are not aware of, and are not aware of the influence it can have on us. I have experienced it myself and experienced demonic things happening, before God saved me, and many people have experienced it as well. Just because you don't know about it and haven't experienced it, doesn't mean it's not real. I pray that more people will know The Lord and our Savior Jesus Christ before it will be too late for them.

As a former paramedic at events I have seen this happen and we had to walk through the crowd sometimes with big security guys that cleared the path for us and our equipment. I always found that to be scary and we had radios to call in if needed… I’ve never seen this type of violence and aggression though.. not in these circumstances at least. I did when a storm hit one time and people got scared and tried to get out. To everyone who lost someone, my deepest condolences and to my colleagues thank you. I know the feeling and it’s something that sticks with us forever. To the people who attended. Seek help. There are support systems in place to help you with dealing with this. Its okay to need help. We all need it sometimes. ❤️ Rest in peace to the victims and well wishes to those injured. Well wishes for everyone involved.

I've been to well over 200 different shows, including festivals like Aftershock, Ozzfest, Knotfest, and someone passing out in a pit is far from common. I've seen a lot of stumbling people, but staff comes to them before becomes a medical emergency. If someone is out cold for three seconds on the ground and can't get up, the band stops. Pearl Jam stops on a dime if there's a medical emergency, as does Staind. When there are multiple ambulances in the crowd and people on top of the medical golf carts, it's time to stop the show and tell people they have to back up. I recall at Killswitch Engage back in 2008. We we pushing the barrier forward and the band said we all needed to take five steps back so we wouldn't injure ourselves our security. It's pretty neglectful and a good number of bands take steps to make sure their fans go home alive.

Yeah it's mostly metal bands who know their history. This likely happened in metal concerts and it's why people are so vigilant in them.

Pearl Jam had the horrible concert at Roskilde 2000. 9 people died so they know their history. By some weird coincidence, metal people seem to know how to act at a concert maybe because they are experienced.

Sometime in 2015 (or 17) he got arrested and plead guilty to disorderly conduct for telling fans to storm the venue and "rage" (jump around and go crazy). He did the same for this event on one of his social media's again asking for people to rage and luckily they couldn't but for the wrong reasons as they were preoccupied with croudcrush. He doesn't care bout his fans it's obvious when he's been charged twice for inciting violence. One time was for telling the crowd to rush the stage past the security. The other he told a crowd the f up a teenager who took his shoe during a crowd surf and also spat in the teens face.the teen got beaten so bad he was hospitalized.
