The "moss" at 5:12 is floating crystalwort. I love this plant -- it grows well for me, it pearls often, and it's not invasive where I live. If you float it gets dense and bushy; if you fasten it down so it has to reach for the light it's more branched. I like it both ways.

If that library has any books on keeping frogs they should find that, find the right page, and slam it down on the counter (the counter next to this one, so the frogs don't get startled) and teach them the value of finding information at your local library.

I have an angled tank like that, blagged it secondhand from a fish shop that was redecorating. The sloped face makes them easier to look into when they're on the bottom row, and it lets a lot of light in. They have a large footprint - I kept shellies on the bottom and endlers at the top. No idea if they're selling them angled like that now though.

I agree. I also think most ppl do not research water parameters for plants. They just choose based on what the plants look like and not what they what might work in their water. I had this problem until i researched and most of the plants i was ordering do not do well in hard water, mine is 8.5. I got some guppy grass however and some plants from a local stream and they are doing amazing!!!

@@audrisampson try using something like seachem prime when you do water changes and try to keep your nitrates under 20-40 ppm. You could also try something like pothos hanging out of your tank to help suck up nutrients. Hahaha, i still get nice silk ones that look really nice and almost pretty real :] I do very much miss my heavily planted aquarium, though I downsized my ten tanks to one massive tank with some fish and a turtle. All my time spent on my ten tanks for a couple years was really fun, and i'm glad I did, because I really found the right pet, and balance for me. Worked at a pet shop and an axolotl someone brought in was impacted with gravel. We put in the fridge for a lil over a week and it passed the gravel and made a full recovery and started feeding again. Obviously we cared for it daily, and it wasn’t in a fridge that we use for food or anything😂😂all this to say is that what they were doing in the beginning is very wrong. You should not get a pet axolotl if you’re not willing to spend the money to get a chiller, or have a basement or some other cold room to keep them cool constantly. Not a beginner pet whatsoever😂😂

7:07, Aquatic snails. Oldest known groups are all saltwater snails, some of whom then evolved into terrestrial and freshwater snails. Some land snails then evolved further into freshwater snails, hence why some freshwater snail groups have gills (Neritidae) and some have lungs (Planorbidae-rams horn snails). EDIT qotw: 90% of my search would be gallons liters cm3 (cm x cm x cm) conversions and calculators XD

10:09 bro should just get some moss. When I first started with planted tanks I just put some flame/Christmas moss on some dragon stone and plopped it in with some fluval stratum and a filter. I think the first time I tested the water was like on the 12 day mark and I had, no I’m not kidding, 50 ppm ammonia, 5 ppm nitrites, 50 ppm nitrates, a hardness of 300, PH was like 6.1 (and because I had no heater the the temperature was like 65) This moss was for some reason was just thriving in basically poison. The moss is still growing great today, just the best hardiest plant to start the hobby with Imo.

Your best bet would be to shut up a aquarium for the frogs bring it into the library and explain to them to improper husbandry for these frogs that they’re using for these frogs and help them put them in a better aquarium set up that you provided. Please tell them that that is animal cruelty but appreciate the fact that they are trying to have an enjoyable atmosphere for children and adults! Please educate them on the proper husbandry for these frogs and help them set it up
