This episode was supposed to be the Season 3 finale originally, but the animation took so much time and money that they had to postpone it to season 4.

Yeah, Kaggy is in a lot of stuff that you might not expect. Hell, it took me a long time to realize that it was Kaggy who voiced Hercule in the Hercule vs Dan DeathBattle, and I've watched Kaggy for quite a while. The guy has an impressive vocal range.

Like I believe he said he's like 6ft 1in, in a previous episode. So it's like if he went aginst someone who was 11ft. Not a bug different in numbers but thats still a very tall dude.

300 vs 333 is like a little over 10% taller. The angle they showed it made it look like 30% taller. The equivalent for me would be my 6'1 vs someone 6'8

6:26 "What does blade ex machina even mean?" It's a play on the old greek theater trope "Deus Ex Machina" which literally means "God of the Machine" which refers to the practice of ending a play by having a god come down and set everything right in the story. The god character was played by an actor that would be lowered by a machine, which is how it got it's name. I think they call the sword that because it is usually how they would win. In modern times, if you hear someone refer to a story ending with "Deus Ex Machina", it's a critique of how the author wrote themselves into a corner and made the hero win through some contrived BS.

Natsu vs Ace

Like I said before, most of the footage of Power Rangers comes from Super Sentai show that is based on. MMPR use the footage of Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger, not only story is different, but also the fact the yellow ranger was a guy. I start watching Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger, which is the 45th anniversary show of the franchise and is a good start for people who are new to tokusatsu like Super Sentai, Kamen Rider or Ultraman.

Zyuranger is actually free to stream on Tubi and PlutoTV as well as a few others so he doesn’t have to look too hard. They’re even showing full episodes on Toei’s Tokusatsu channel on KZread.

@Vega the_skullkid Well... there are some English dubs from the Philippines but they’re rare and usually of the really old ones and I don’t know if it’s available. I am not saying he should do a reaction series or anything, just saying it’s available, subbed at least.

fun fact, the person voicing the red guy of Voltron in this is actually matt Patt from game theory. also, yes, Voltron was faster and that definitely helped. but there's a reason why scout doesn't just automatically win every fight in TF2, durability and damage output are also things that can destroy even the fastest opponent.

@@theduckgoesmoo you can change scout out with demoknight and the point still stands, just because someone's faster doesn't mean they'll auto win. it helps, but there are other factors.

Voltron is a defender of a universe, while the rangers usually defend a city, this feels pretty one sided.

I've seen 23 out of the 24 power rangers series (some of which have multiple seasons) and most of the Super Sentai series that each PR season is based on.

"stop light turtle" Yeah...some of the monsters in the early days were nuts. it had the power to blast people with traffic lights. get hit with red...and you're frozen in place.....green makes you constantly run.....though they never did show what yellow does

5:27 well the black ranger in the original japanese source was called Mammothranger, don't know why the change. Is the same thing that the blue unicorn thunderzord in the second season is actually a pegasus from the Super Sentai that came after Zyuranger and each sentai show takes place in different universes.

The original "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" aired in 1993 and uses stock footage from a Japanese live-action TV franchise called "Super Sentai" (literally meaning Super Squadron) specifically "Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger" that aired in 1992. Fun fact, there are actually two (technically three) different robots called Voltron. The one in this Death Battle, the Lion Force Voltron, is the original and the most famous one in the United States, and was adapted from an anime called "Beast King GoLion", elements of which were used in the Voltron reboot, "Voltron: Legendary Defender." The second, the Vehicle Voltron Team, was adapted from an anime called "Armored Fleet Dairugger XV". That Voltron is more well known in countries like Russia and Latin America due to airing before the Lion Force Voltron. The third is the Gladiator Voltron, which was going to be adapted from an anime called "Lightspeed Electroid Albegas", but it never aired. Why the hell all three separate giant anime robots were given the name "Voltron" in the west? I have no idea.

Long story short, they wanted to make one of those anime anthology shows. Like Robotech, where they try to make 3 separate robot action anime’s share the same universe.

"Speed kills" and being physically stronger, more durable, and a larger arsenal. Being better in ONE field will never be the deciding factor. Being faster means nothing if you can't do substantial damage or take a hit.

If you wanna get a more modern grasp on Voltron, watch the Netflix series _"Voltron: Legendary Defender"._ It's made by the same people who made _Avatar: The Last Airbender_ and _The Legend of Korra._ Or, at least, animated by the same people. But it does have the same style of writing.

A lot of people despise it after Season 2. I disagree. It just gets better and better, peaking at around Season 6, with 7&8 being suitably good. A worthy watch all-around.

To be honest, this was one of their best fights they made!

I’ve never laughed harder at size differences between two giant bots. It was pretty damn funny to see that slow upward look Voltron gave the Megazord, especially since when I first saw this, I expected them to be equal in height (I didn’t see how tall Voltron actually was lol)

The megazord is bigger because it is amde by the words expanding some parts and then basically clicking together. Voltron is formed in a similar way, but the lions press some of their own parts in to form their respective pieces.

@@sheevpalpatine6139 And the Voltron lions also "slot" onto existing limbs like a sort of "outer casing". With the Megazord, it's more of a case of the Zords just "layering" themselves on top of each other. The former keeps Voltron more "compact", while the latter makes the Megazord taller and bulkier.

The power rangers are all stunt doubles, the teens voice act all the parts so the stunt doubles just had to be extremely over the top expressive with body language to convey "talking"

@@theduckgoesmoo Tommy Oliver, the Green Dragon Ranger/White Tiger Ranger/Red Zeo Ranger/Red Turbo Ranger/Black Dino Thunder Reanger, the last Power Ranger's fight was his White Tiger zord vs the gundum that he lost. Don't feel bad the PR Fandom, while like most fandoms has a toxic side, isn't that bad, just that some are more vocal about how their favorite team can't nor should ever lose.

@@arcticace9295 Yeah, but the spoilers present in Natsu vs. Ace surpass quite literally everything that was in Zoro vs. Erza. As in, like, final arc hadn’t even been animated yet spoilers.

So now I really want you to do a reaction of one of the power rangers seasons [earlier, the better], it is a staple of 90's weird ass import/dub, but in a good day.

“I told you, speed kills!” And then you realized that Voltron outclasses the megazord not just in speed, but in every single metric. XD Man, I said in the last several videos this is my favorite episode ever (tied with Dante vs Bayonetta) and now you got to see why. So awesome. As a lifelong fan of both Power Rangers and Voltron, I can attest to this result pretty strongly. The Power Rangers are the defenders of the earth, but Voltron is the defender of the *universe.* There are definitely some megazords from later on in the franchise that would fair much better against Voltron, but the OG megazord? Doesn’t stand a chance. Like I said before, all the characters in this episode were voiced by popular youtubers. The biggest name on this roster was MatPat voicing Keith (the lead paladin of Voltron). Power Rangers isn’t exactly Japanese dubbed by American actors, it’s a bit more… complicated than that. The original franchise in Japan is Super Sentai. Saban (the company that originally made Power Rangers) signed a deal to use footage from Super Sentai shows, as well as their old costumes and props, to make an entirely new show for western audiences. Thus Power Rangers was born! Voltron was a much more straightforward Japanese-to-English adaptation, but like Power Rangers it has gone through many transformations and iterations throughout the years.

at least they went all-in on classic and not the remakes or extended lore. The Netflix Voltron is next level.

Actually the next death battle after this one is "Natsu vs Ace" not "Sub-Zero vs Glacius", always check the end of a DB video to know what the next episode will be.

For some reason Lucario vs Renamon and Shredder vs Silver Samurai aren’t on your playlist. I don’t think you need to worry about spoilers for Pokémon, Digimon, and teenage mutant ninja turtles so you might have to find them on your own.

This episode was one of the most expensive of all because they had already commissioned 2d and previous 3d sprites that didn't work out, so when they finally did it they decided to go all out. You might notice that all the power Rangers and voltron pilots are voiced by popular KZreadrs many of whom got their start on Screwattack, Like MatPat And Andre of Black Nerd Comedy

My favorite ranger is billy the blue ranger. Not only did he invent that super fast car (that also flies) but in the process of inventing a set of small long range communicators, accidentally invented teleporters.

Ok! Now that I get a chance to watch this, I also get to throw a wave of fun facts at you for this one. Regular fun facts: Voltron was referenced in the Deadpool movie, as Wade was nerding out about it to Vanessa. Also, the series got a remake as a Netflix original series, created by a large chunk of the same team that made Avatar: The Last Airbender. VA Fun Facts! This is lengthy! Red Power Ranger is voiced by Alejandro "KaggyFilms" Saab, voice actor and fellow reactor! Blue Power Ranger voiced by Jeffrey "SpaceHamster" Fabre, known for his video game KZread channel, spacehamster. Yellow Power Ranger is voiced by Morgan Berry, professional VA whom you'd know as Thirteen, the space-based hero in My Hero Academia. Black Power Ranger voiced by Andre "BlackNerd" Meadows, known for his video game review based KZread channel. funny enough: alot of the monsters they fought are based on certain yokai or atleast inspired by them. (Yokai are ghosts, monsters and sometimes deities in Japan. most are just tricksters but some are straight up killers). like with the Purse monster for example. the most basic type of yokai are the ones that are items thrown away with no regards to how they are treated like reused for later or never recycled. they would then grow a soul over time, a 100 years or so, and begin to walk and just cause mischief. they are called Tsukumogami. i think it was just brushed over in America and other places cause they just thought "weird monsters". if you ever want cool info on some neat yokai, there's a guy named "Gaijin Goombah" on here that goes in depth with a lot of different creatures, as well as takes a good look at well known characters and creatures in media that have yokai lore.

Check out the netflix voltron show! Its a really well made remake

The most interesting thing is even though I’ve always liked Power Rangers more than Voltron. and I actually wanted Power Rangers win, this fight was just too good for me to really be angry at the outcome.

It would be absolutely horrifying if the ranger's suit mouths moved. Pidge. Age 24. Sure show, sure. Most of the colors mismatch Red suit, black lion. Pink suit, blue lion. Blue suit, red lion, etc The Japanese backstory for Voltron is much more crazy. Its just a living robot thing that tried to murder the GODDESS of the universe. She called it a savage and smashed it to pieces.

If Voltron caught your attention at all, there was a reboot a few years back on Netflix. It gets plenty of flack for the ending (not entirely unjustified), but it still does a great job with the action and characterization. I personally don't recommend the original version of the show, since the dub script (especially at the beginning) was pretty cringy at times. Unrelated topic, the Voltron leader in this Death Battle was voiced by the guy from Game Theory

Fun fact. Johnny Yong Bosch played the Black Ranger in the Power Rangers movie. Because as well as a voice actor he was also a stuntman. He does a lot of big voices like Yu Narukqmi in P4, that I high guy from Bleach. But my personal favorite is Nero from DMC 4 and 5. The punk cool new kid to balance out Dante's surfer cool and Vergil's power of anime cool. Speaking of DMC btw. The Voice Actor for Vergil, Dan Southworth also did the part of the Quantum Ranger. And being added into the Battle for the Grid fighting game as a dlc they took the opportunity to show they knew what they were doing by straight up mixing vergil quotes into the dialogue both in the reveal trailer and when using special moves in game.

"People liked this show?" Hey, I was seven. I tried giving the show a rewatch recently, but couldn't get past the second episode for several reasons.

Yeah, the first MMPR seasons are definitely one of those “mostly dumb fun for small kids” type of shows. Fortunately the later Power Rangers seasons do more than that.

Can't wait for you to get to Balrog vs TJ Combo. That is definitely in contention for my favorite episode of the whole show.

I totally agree with their decision on Voltron having watched both shows as a kid growing up in the 90's I was a fan of both franchises however it was Voltron that one me over it's a great anime to watch and it's even got the voice actor of Peter Cullen's who voices Optimus Prime and yes Voltron is that powerful given that the Megazord has had to every now and then combine with another to win the day were as Voltron himself is a major powerhouse the winner is Voltron

OOOH! we are just 2 away from Balrog vs TJ Combo! one of my favorite matches so far. seriously, i think i became a fan of boxing after this one and the fight was amazing!

The crazy part about power ranges is that its still going on. Japanese Super sentai where power ranges was born to american audiens first air back in 1975 while Power Rangers come in 1993.

5:50 since no one addressed this, I will. Powerangers was mad in Japan under the name "Super Sentai. Due to popularity, Amerocs soon amde their own version(after making a contract) called "Power Rangers". The two are nearly identical in every way, including story and seasons. That's because for the most part, Power Rangers followed the basic script if Super Sentai. Its not an english Voice Over, it's an English rendition.

It sucks that you’re not gonna watch Natsu vs. Ace, one of my favorite battles, but I understand why it was left out. They had the courtesy to give a spoiler warning for something that happened in Ace’s analysis, but they spoiled some of the biggest plot twists in Fairy Tail within, like, ten seconds of Natsu’s analysis, one that hadn’t even been revealed in the anime at that point in time. People were not exactly happy with that.

Which doesn't make sense since he already saw Zoro Vs Erza and everything that spoils. So unless he actually plans on watching all 300+ episodes of Fairy Tail, (Which likely not considering he's scared off by Bleach having not much of a bigger number) there's no real point to skip it.

5:05 Yes, the black ranger is black. The yellow ranger is Asian, the pink ranger is female, and the white power ranger is white and also the most powerful of all the rangers by canon. They did not give a damn back in the 90s. The black power ranger was my favorite as a kid. I always thought he was the coolest of them all.

They fixed the whole black and yellow thing, maybe due to controversy who knows, so that was nice. But, in the season where they fixed it, the guy with Native American ancestry was made the Red Ranger. So, like. That's also not great.

Actually, Walter Johnson was originally meant to be the Blue Ranger but swapped roles since he didn’t want to be the nerd. The original Yellow Ranger was meant to be Latina but she dropped out and Thuy Trang took her place instead.

if power rangers interests you at all, linkara of atop the forth wall did a series called 'history of power rangers' that covers it and goes over a bunch of reasons why it was awesome!

Honestly, I'm really not a fan of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Seasons 1-3 of the Power Rangers series), it aged really poorly and most of the other seasons are much better, Dino Thunder and RPM especially are fantastic.

A little late to be saying this, but in regards to the height thing, 33 ft on this scale is more than you think. If you scaled these two down to human sizes, the megazord would be 6 ft tall, voltron's about 4'10.

There are a ton of Power Ranger/Super Sentai series. This particular group of rangers and Megazord are the first in the American franchise (Power Rangers), while Super Sentai, the Japanese franchise, is much older with many rangers before these. Also, there are many dinosaur/fossil rangers, it's kinda a tradition every few years to make a new group of them. The same goes for Ninjas/Samurai. Power Rangers/Super Sentai is still going on today with a new group of rangers every 2 to 3 years.

the one you saw was white tiger zord which is the thunder zords, the original megazord this one gets destroyed and they replace it with the thunder zords

yeah, big power rangers fan, but none of the might morphin era zords/megazords/maybe even ultrazords could really have a chance here. at earliest to have anywhere close of a shot would be zeo, which is season 4 compared to the season one and maybe 2 of here

Power Rangers is based on Japan's Super Sentai, which is much better because they aren't limited to too much censorship. Hell you should see Golion and see how much more dark it is compared to our americanized Voltron.

SPD is definitely up there, but my two favorites are RPM and Dino Charge.

Fun Fact: Both series are Americanized adaptations of Japanese shows. Only Voltron resembles the original though. Voltron is a dub of Beast King GoLion and the first season of Power Rangers is a heavily changed adaptation of the sixteenth Super Sentai, Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger.

Voltron was the $#!t... Especially for a blk kid living in the hood, this was my show. When Voltron pulls out that blazing sword, you know it was GAME OVER!! There was no internet then... So we kids had to rush home in the evenings to see it. Bro... This came before homework!! 😁😆😃 I wish they'd make a movie of this BUT DO IT RIGHT!! DON'T MESS IT UP WITH ALL THAT VIRTUE SIGNALING!! The storyline and acting got to be GOOD also.
