Hi - I love your enthusiasm which all adds to a great information packed review. You sold me on the Focal brand, however, I opted for the 65's instead of the 50's. I was after a touch more low end without including a sub. Keep up the great work. Peter.

I bought them 2 months ago and I have to say they are AMAZING! Everything is clear with nice bass and exeptional mids and highs.

got the 65 EVOs tonight... even though the low end is massive, I can roll it off and mix tracks and then check the sub bass... amazing forward sound..can clearly hear everything... my audio interface is on one or two most of the time... got them for 500 euros the pair... thinking of getting a smaller pair or maybe adam A3X to put on the desk top... Those 50s are amazing too

ended up bringing home the 50s too as the store said I could try them out.. so both pairs are here and have been switching them up all day... the 65s are amazing, you can hear very low frequencies but I dont think its so great if you live in an apartment... they can be played very low and you can hear everything but the 50s do sound clearer because they have less low end... wondering whether to just keep both or to get some commercial speakers to check mixes on after mixing...

Hey, Edward, I recently got into music production after years of playing guitar to myself and learning to sing and discovered your channel a few days ago and have learned a ton since, so thank you! Do you think the extra it's worth 30 extra USD to upgrade from the Eris Pro 3.5 to the Elevate 5 MK II? I'd be using them in a bedroom - 3.2x4.1m in size, and later on in an office room that I plan to both sound-treat.

I have krk5 inches now but I wanted to upgrade my monitoring . On the other hand, the focal 50 evo and the yamaha hs8 are relatively close to each other in the price range . What do you suggest? Focal 50 or yamaha hs8 or even focal 65evo? Thanks

Those are their most budget friendly models. Focal can get easily into the 10,000 and Eve 70,000 range. They are some of if not the best speakers ever made on this earth, at least that's what I've heard from pros that have tried others.

Are Alpha 65 evo suitable for listening to music / watching movies? In silent conditions, is the hiss / noise floor audible at a distance of 1 meter?

ofc they work for that use, but arent what they are intendeduse is for. i would suggest to buy some nice hifi speakers instead if you are just using them to watch movies and listening to music. they are made for audio work (flat frequences respons) which arent the "nicest and best" sounding option. dont know about the hiss levels on these monitors tho.

Great work Edward, good videos. Specifically to these 2 monitors, I am using the KRK R7 G4. The Focal does sound good in this videos, but you can still tell the difference to the Yamaha, Yamaha's give so high quality sounds than Focal, but they are good quality.

They sounded really veiled when I tested them honestly. Same can be heard in this vid. The previous version sounds clearer. The Tannoy Reveal 502 monitors are still far superior imo and now that they're pretty old, they're so much cheaper too.

Focal monitors have like a 40 hour break in time before they sound right, they are much better than your low end and are a fine midrange monitor. Nowhere near the top end but they're decent once broken in IMO.

lol the tannoy reveal 502s are made by behringer and a cheapy made speakers. the newer tannoy golds are good though

Ive got focal open and closed back headphones, they are really impressive. Definitely worth their premium

Compressed flat music without dynamic.......even your clockradio can handel that . Use dynamic music and listen to the tone color, colored by the dampings factor of the "5 speaker. When you master a voice track, can you control the voice when it sings hard or soft? Nice advertising talk but actually you don't say anything

Not really a fair comparison using HS5's. You have to compare with HS7's which are also 6.5".

i tried the HS5 .... too much mids and high for me .... i had ear pain after 15min ....

I think the yamahas was much more honest in this test

I think everyone can find something in their price range BUT you can imagine how much ,,quality,, is build in a 280€ active Speaker. In the Soundclip they sound like a kitchen radio (sorry)… better save some money and buy the Neumann KH120 + youve even the posibility later to upgrade. Purchase the Sub + MA1 and you have an high quality Fullrange Setup for a pretty low price. Save Money and buy ones. Cheap Monitors sounds (mostly) cheap

🤠 Just use 🎧, lol. The new Rode ones look cool & keep your ears cool. The Tannoy Golds are an interesting one to check out as the tweeter is in the middle of the woofer. I'm not a pro so don't take my advice.

It'll be awsome if you compare it to adam audio T5V:)

no need, the tv serie is trash and not accurate, focal is better by far. If you want adams start from the ax serie everything below is not good.

Evo sound boxy to me but yamahas have no bass... the room is the decision maker for me...

No they are not, for what they cost the price/quality difference with the rest of the 5" bunch is not justified.👎🏻

yamaha sounds horrible compared to Focal , WOW IM SHOCKED

I vote for the Focals....very flat and uncolored in my professional opinion.

in real life they are jaw dropping
