These STOL Planes Do not need a runway to Takeoff
Designed for operation on unprepared runways, STOL aircraft are conventional fixed-wing planes that require short runway lengths for both take-off and landing. These aircraft achieve shorter runway requirements through efforts to maintain a low minimum flying speed (also known as stall speed). For take-off, high power-to-weight ratios and low drag allow the aircraft to accelerate quickly into flight. During landing, strong brakes, low landing speeds, and the use of thrust reversers or spoilers help shorten the runway length needed. The overall performance of STOL aircraft is measured by the length of runway needed for either landing or takeoff. So In this video, we will explore the top 10 factory-produced aircraft with the most impressive STOL capabilities, excluding any personally modified ones

I think that whoever (or whatever) narrated the script, selected the footage and did the on-screen numbers needs to do some checking! This video is a MESS! A de Havilland Buffalo doesn't take off in 50 feet, it takes 1200 feet to REACH 50 feet of altitude! While we're on the numbers, the last time I looked, 25,000 feet is not 276 metres for instance. And when illustrating an aircraft type, don't switch to completely different aircraft in the clips!

@@lagodifuoco313 Yes but it is still factually incorrect in many places. These weren't modifications, these aircraft are all FACTORY-BUILT TO BE STOL aircarft, , "excluding any modified ones", as it says at the start. Anyone who knows about this subject knows that. And sticking with the Buffalo, 41,000 lbs is not 1875kg, its over 18,000KG.
interessing , Saddly you keep switching image of differents planes while talking about one model, so we don't know if the plane you are talking about is the one on the screen or not ...
Thank you for including metric values. (Some of them were completely wrong, but that's another matter.)
The a/c at 4:45 actually belongs to me. 😂
The Buffalo has a 1200 ft takeoff to 50 ft.

i had to go check that too , can clear a 50 ft tree after 1210 ft ,with a stall speed of 85 mph the acceleration to get into the air would be other worldly , lots of JTOl would do it ....
I miss the Chinook
Very nicely done. Thank you!
Interesting most small stol shown have tail wheels - common but they struggle in tall grass where I land my nose wheel stol zenair 801. I Mow when my prop tips turn green. 😆 Ps: the 801 is difficult to get. The kits are available still in Canada I understand but you have to wait until they get orders for three before they’ll cut/assemble the kit. I’ll never sell mine. Flying low slow with the doors pinned open - flying don’t get better 😀
What's brown and comes out the back of a Buffalo? Airborne!
Any other Cleetus fans here and also see him in the vid ? I probably would have never seen this without being a fan of his.
I want one so bad!
What beauties!
STOL is not all that is needed, you need to carry a load into short runways too.
You screwed the buffalo.
I want one 😮😊
How to get any of the planes featured? Already built?

I need a plane that will take off in 50 feet. Fly at 400 miles an hour. And has a 2500 mile range.
some of the clips on the Buffalo are from Nelson BC
With enough head wind would you even need an engine?
3:26..only needs 50 ft. to take off and land?
automated voices are not good, don't use them! thumbs down unsub!!!
Fontossak!..
… to Take Off (two-word phrasal verb).
it's not KM/H and not M/S, as those are Kelvin Mega Whatever and Mega per Siemens. It's km/h and m/s. Just Google SI units. 😉
A high wing cantilever strut design… This is a contradiction in terms. Cantilever means NO STRUTS! 👎🏼
I can't believe that buffalo can come off the ground in 50 feet

The Storch is a WWII Nazi design with a modern motor
Is it me or does the Storch look as if a kid built a model airplane, and the kit came with the wrong scale model wheels?

It’s patterned after the Fieseler Fi 156 Storch, 2,900 of which were produced in Germany prior to and during World War II. Used for observation, courier, and medevac purposes.

If someone told me the Husky's maximum speed was 45 MPH (@8:44) and a range of 800 miles, meaning 20 hours up, I would never have bought one. Interesting video but flawed info and picture mix ups. Just MHO.
