Very efficient way of feeding your cows Mark. No need for a diet feeder with a spring calving herd going straight to grass when they calve. A waste of time diesel and money . Great video as always Mark. 😊

I have on occasions cut out the top block and left it on the floor and then cut the bottom block and use it. Come back and lift the top blocks again

I use a diet feeder. I agree it takes a bit longer but my pit is a bit further away from the barrier than yours. I also have 60 of the lightest weaning heifers that are diet fed and it transforms them so much so they can pass out some of the heavier ones on same amount of meal that aren’t diet fed. In calf heifers are also not been bullied as meal is there all the time for them. Similar numbers to yourselves. However more diesel burnt and crows are the biggest issues Great video, keep them coming

@user-cd8wd2pc6d ya it's the location of the pit to the cubicles that really makes it fast

We actually milk 450 cows but we are spring calving grass based system so we sell empty cows in autumn. Cows are outside grazing for must of the year

A diet feeder is slower and more expensive to feed stock
