(sorry for my english not native) You probably won't read that but I had a group during years. And I had the chance to have one of the best tanks a healer can get during the last years I played with my group. That group was not hardcore but neither casual, don't know the name (not week 1 or anything like this just a group doing 4 days a week 3 hours each day). I was the leader and during 9 years we did content as ultimates and savages. One day this tank came and told me "I have beaten Xeno on a parse" (I don't remember the raid sorry it was some years ago but I remember it was a savage raid) and you know what, he was so proud. He didn't go berserk and told everyone, no, just us, his team. He admired you as a player both for your performance on parse and your way to play Warrior. And it was so cute when he told us that we were like "whaaat, it can't be true, you can't beat Xeno", but he did. We saw the parse and he really did. And we were so proud ! And it became a private joke, "I have beaten Xeno on a parse once." And this is how good people normally react. They look forward to be as good as people they know are better than them. They don't envy them, they see them as an opportunity to be better. And this player was the best tank I've ever had, and I must say that I would never have trade him for you :P and the sweetest person you can have on your party. I hope that you realize that there are more people out there that see you as an opportunity to be better players themselves that to rage because you're first on a parse. =)

I recently got a rank 1 on a savage fight, and it has completely changed my view on parsing. Rotationally I did NOTHING different than the last 15 or so kills of that boss, and then the best parse was either a 91 or 92. However, I go to a different group, have a slightly different kill time and good crit RNG, and all of a sudden I am rank 1. It would never happen, but the obsession over funny number needs to go away in order for people to refocus on what matters most, and that is performance.

I felt the same way when I got rank 3 NIN in a fight from the prior savage tier. I wasn't even a NIN main, and I don't feel good with the job even now. I was at best a high purple/low orange if I had to rate myself on average, and then all of a sudden I got a run where I was rank 3. I didn't even do anything different from the usual Balance rotation - RNG loved me and the party comp was favorable, I guess. At this point, I think the main factor I base my performance off of is to refer to xivanalysis to keep track of my skill usage and uptime.

This video was phenomenally fun. I just love the thought process people go through about their rankings and stuff. My personal journey with parsing is just at least being a high purple/orange. If I see a pink in there than thats pretty great. Grinded myself to rank 211 this last raid tier just for the hell of it and was satisfied seeing the pink overall ranking number. I think the best thing to do in this game is pride yourself on your own consistency with mechanics and personal abilities to perform well in a fight. If consistency isn't enough then go for the big numbers, if someone does better than you, acknowledge it and strive to become better than them.

I even had slightly suboptimal GCD use on my run and it was made up for by insane crits in my burst. Haters gonna hate, but so long as you are happy with yourself, thats what matters. Its also not like PF players have a huge disadvantage compared to static players when it comes to ultimate parses for tanks anyways. Your rotation is the same either way. "There is no reason to kill a phase faster than you need to." This is so true. Dsr was actually my 1st ultimate clear. We would actually hold dps before thordan 1 to nidhogg and from nidhogg to eyes so that we could bank cooldowns and let other cooldowns be available for the next phase, rather than just killing. Heck I played rdm and before the transition into the final phase when you dps down nid and hraes, I would just spam my normal spells to build gauge so I could go into final phase with full 100/100 gauge. Holding burst and cooldowns is normal. In fact it can be optimal.

I remember years ago when i was still playing the Game actively, i discovered you by any chance around second coil, near the beginning of final coil. At first i wasn't so sure if what you preached was the right way of playing tank, but the more i dug, the more i realized that you were right, so i started taking notes and improved my game play by a big margin. Coming heavenward, the second Raid tier, our group already clearing Brut Justice comfortably, but me thinking "mm, i know we clear but i am not happy with my performance, and i am running out of ideas how to improve", And so i queued into your stream, i was already one who was subbed and watched, and during some downtime during the stream i just asked for some "advice for brute justice as a Warrior". Not only did you answer, you went in painstakingly details of dozens "what if scenarios" that you can encounter during the fight and how you can react. I wrote all of that down that day... ALL OF IT! And guess what? next week when we went back in, Aside from my CD rotation for defense improving and making it easier to keep me alive, my DPS had a 20% increase! And it was fairly noticeable even in the fight, due to the fact that the healers had higher DPS too, and Brute justice dying a bit earlier than before. Sure, you are rough around the edges but Your name is not written with "Bullsh*t" if you catch my drift. And honestly that is what i like. More damage usually just means they have different buffs like RPR+SMN buffs, vs having a MCH and SAM... in those cases the extra damage gets removed in the rDPS section and added to the buffer so even though it's higher it's actually not for all the parse calculations. Of course if they have no buffs and are still doing 500 more, then that's det diff and someone needs to meld their gear instead of leaving it meldless

I can adjust it to use holos there instead, but i really cbf because then it throws my mit off all the way down to p5. won't get panhaima back by first south stack in p4, don't have holos for blue screen. Killing p2 just before the end of the castbar puts panhaima on roughly a 77 or 78s cd (can't remember exactly, think its 78), so to actually end p2 fast enough that it screws me up we have to end super early. it finally syncs back up at dynamis omega but it's still annoying as shit to deal with.

@rydil1847 Yeah. You can use panhaima a bit earlier to cover only the meteor in P2, and then it'll be back up for tower 2 in P3. It's not too much risk as long as no one else misses their mitigations and helps you not have to hold.

I'm just glad that I don't care for my funny parse colour that much, because all of this sounds like advances whinging over nothing, at least from the people salty about the rank 1. I often play as healer, in Ultimates and Savage and the likes, and I also often go by feel, but I will bookmark certain cooldowns for certain specific points in a fight; think Temperance for Panto and Limitless Synergy...it's not really spreadsheets, but more exploring what feels like the proper response and the nstick to it, while learning the mechanics. I also prefer to be as consistent as possible with the mechanics and let the DPS roll as it happens. Could I attempt to tryhard a purple, pink or gold? Maybe, but especially on WHM with the heavy reliance on Blood Lily Direct Crits I kind of don't want to. There's probably also a bunch I could improve as is, but not without input from more experienced high level players, which I unfortunately don't have. When I play as tank (mainly GNB) or dps (mainly SMN) I tend to use the same mentality, with varying levels of success. Maybe some day I'll find the right people to "coach" me to the next level and maybe consistently land purple (which would be plenty good performance even for week 1 prog if I wanted and had the chance I assume). Also about the forbidden technology: I don't use any, and I just always go by "if you use it and get caught, have fun with the consequences". Nothing in 14 I have done so far needed more than my braincell to work out, but granted I just recently started TOP and we only just reached p3.

Been watching LPDU more from the sidelines as an EU High end/week1 raider from its inception. It's been more of a circle jerk for the "big players" from the start, only the names in question changed over time. Makes for good entertainment watching this stuff, which gets confirmed on a monthly basis, to finally enter the big stage and be visible for everyone. Least LPDU always provides content, for some its PF, for me its the same drama I saw 3 years ago~

My personal take on Mods in MMOs is if I can help it I will refuse to use them. In WoW I only have 3 mods max 1) Damage Meters 2) Roleplay Profiles (I'm from an RP server) 3) Crit Tracker (cuz its fun) I don't use any UI addons or anything like that. I have to get DBM out of obligation for my raid group. I really like FFXIV no mods allowed policy very much because I prefer to play the game as the devs intend it to be played, flaws and all. I know others will disagree, but I can play the game just fine without needing extra tools, and the ones who disagree simply need to get good.

Yes, I mod, but it's all aesthetic. I don't even use the TT solver because it takes away an aspect of gameplay. I mcSuffer some of those npc matches but it's more rewarding that way imo)

I started out ARR doing tank (PALD) and move to DPS for HW and SB and I’m planning on doing tank for shadow bringers. I’ve had few bad experiences with this game and I’m definitely scared to approach the intense raids/dungeons and being clowned on if I mess up. But seeing this much pushback for this toxic person makes me less anxious to approach it.

Its even funnier when they trash talk Xeno while using addon that help them since they dont know what it really is to do fights without them and obviously Xeno doesnt use any addon that help in any way (he would get ban instantly because of how much attention he get). Keep going Xeno your the one that inspired me to do my best in this game !

Don't worry about it, you can always join a pf at the beginning ( the one identified as practice) the more you go into pf, the more you will find like minded people who also wants to clear that particular Ultimate. I got lucky and that's how I became part of a static. I went in alone and tried to join the same pf and we just kind of made pf with the people who were really motivated.

Question for those that know better. Sorry if it was shown in the video, I am on my phone and don’t have my contacts. How much longer was X’s clear time vs the other top 3? X mentioned that his clear time was longer due to it being a reprog group but when comparing stats, his actions (IR, PR, FC’s etc) were practically the same from what I heard. I would presume this means the clear times can’t be “that” much different or a longer instance should = higher number of actions in the instance, no? I am 💯 % behind X’s view on this entire thing, I am simply asking out of my own curiosity? (From someone that has little experience with FF logs). Great video and great job!
