    I mean… my marketing brain wonders if the intent behind making it so very aesthetically pleasing (and it is) is to help it find its way in as an onscreen practical light for content like music videos, streamers, influencers etc. Makes the light more ‘visible’ I guess, and wouldn’t hurt brand awareness at all… 🤷‍♂️

    I'm one of them, the battery cut out after 4 uses. Support was good enough, they sent back a fixed battery (not a replacement), so there may be a firmware problem on the battery. And luckily I had 2 and couldale do with what I had. But the lights are really great, I can't lie. 60 rgb seems like you won't get much out of it other than with you video/photo or some subtle accent lighting elsewhere. I might wait for the 100 version if they come out with it.

    You mentioned no flickering, which I assume you mean no flickering visible to the naked eye, but did you try photographing the lights at various power levels with electronic shutters to see if they exhibit any cycling from PWM that would manifest as banding when shooting at faster shutter speeds?

  • @stormycatmink
    @stormycatmink3 ай бұрын

    Interesting on the color consistency and brightness power curve and lack of flickering.. I've designed lighting for surgeons for many years, and I get picky about this in lights. One thing I learned over the years was that if you use PWM to control brightness, while you get a wonderfully flat power curve, it definitely introduces those other problems. If you use an analog drive (IE control brightness by adjust the current), you eliminate the other problems, but you get the ones you mentioned.. a big jump at the low power, and a falloff at high power.. but no flicker, and no weird color shifting artifacts. Ultimately, that's usually a good tradeoff, since it can usually be easily corrected.. in post or with modifiers, where the other problems can't.

  • @fffmpeg
    @fffmpeg3 ай бұрын

    It is a linear output curve (EOTF). A function that would change the brightness so 50% looks twice as bright as 25% and half of 100% would be an exponential function with the base of 2 and the power output as exponent. Yes, it is hard to create circuits which do that while maintaining a constant current.

There is/was not enough information about the specific type of charger required. When I contacted Amazon (who I bought the units from) they just advised me to speak to the manufacturer, which I have been unable to. In my opinion - if Zhiyun are acknowledging that they had a problem with a batch of these batteries they should create a proper online portal where these can be exchanged.

    To me the design looks like their team decided to mash together an old-timey radio, the innards of a PC, and an old-school clear case gameboy color.

    Make sure you have the correct charger for these batteries or you will fry them AND get some nice smoke from your wall outlet. Ask me how I know?

    I like their lights but that shit battery is a garbage, I used it few times and it went down, I found that many people have the same issue with the grip battery. Also, this one, the RGB Version is too freaking expensive !!!

    Does anyone know what the maximum weight the Bowens adapter can handle?

    The same as the X100 Bowens adapter, the diameter of the softbox should be equal to or less than 60cm and the weight should be equal to or less than 1.3kg

    @@chenlyn-cj8ve thanks so really you can’t put bigger soft boxes on it like a 45 inch. Do they have a specification sheet?

    @@zacharias21 45 inch maybe a little heavy for the adapter. but no specification sheet. I only find the message on the user guide of X100. The X60 and X100 use the same adapter.

    You're great, Gerald, but I hate when Chinese companies dump money on KZread. At least in the automotive industry in Mexico, they promote very cheap cars that do not last even two years and families lose their investment because of greedy companies that prefer to spend money on advertising than on engineering. Greetings from Mexico!

    But the battery. The elephant in the room. Otherwise, the X100 would be THE light for me to get. I’d probably buy three of them and be done with it. Ridiculously compact kit for interviews and the like. The X60 could be just as interesting, but I’m holding off for now after the problems with the X100 battery.

    There is a big problem with this battery. It does not charge normally. I do not recommend it. There are many people who have faced the same problem and there is no solution. The battery remains stuck. Zhiyun did not respond to customers
