These Credit Card Features Could Change Everything

🇨🇦 What we would change about the Canadian credit cards and banks. In today’s video, we reveal all, although to learn more about all these cards (and more), sign up for Miles & Points newsletter here → bit.ly/3ytoMmc

📣 These Credit Card Features Could Change Everything
At Prince of Travel, we get a lot of questions like what are the best credit card points programs in Canada? what is the best Canadian travel credit card for beginners?
We see it as out job to give you the information you need to elevate your travels through Miles & Points. This requires us to dive deep into the credit card game, which means we’ve discovered cards, features, and benefits we LIKE…
Yet also come up with a list of those we don’t 😞
At least, features we believe would make these already good cards great 🚀
In this video we dive into a series of cards, showing you:
1️⃣ How banks can improve their points programs: so they offer you more value and provide greater incentive to have their card become your “everyday” card.
2️⃣ How banks can improve their partnerships: so you have more flexibility with your points, allowing you to turn bucket list items into dream vacations you regularly check off.
3️⃣ One “Dark Horse” financial institution that’s recently made waves and could become a must-have in your wallet if they made these 2-3 changes.
.
If any of the big banks made these changes, they would quickly rise to the top of our list as our number one recommendation.
Although this is just our opinion, what about you 🫵
Add your own Credit card Changes in the comments and let’s see if we can get these banks to make the changes we crave 😉

Amex should add the non fx fees to their cards and that would just leave them at the top eternally lol since they either offer great MR points multipliers like the Cobalt or have the lounge and other credits like the platinum. Aside from Amex I think Scotia passport has the best available card for travel because the no fx fee and lounges. The other ones are really not that awesome, mayhe the TD Aeroplan would also be great if it added lounges and non fx.

Read from other communities the idea of Ion+ & Avion VI which Ion+ being the everyday spending then transfer the points to Avion VI to redeem. Does this worth analyzing?

I aint paying 150$ a year for the Scotia bank no FX fee cards that are gonna help me for maybe 2-3 weeks of the year and have to spend 6000$ abroad just to break even!! Wealthsimple cash card has no fx fees + you get 1% cashback on everything, it’s a no brainer.

Yea I feel like most people that care so much about no fx fee, probably haven’t done the math on how much they save. If they spend 2000$ a year on forex, that’s 50$ fee saving. It’s not that significant in grand scheme of things

I think of the no fx fee perk as just an extra benefit, not the main reason to get these cards You get the most out of scene+ through the points multipliers on various categories, then redeeming those points at 100 pts=$1, which over a year more than covers the yearly fee I'd rather use credit space than WS Cash or Wise so that money can accrue interest or can be invested until I have to pay the bill

I have the same card but I have the ultimate account with scotia which waives the fee, the card from scotia also gives 6 lounge visits, and I have scotiaItrade which gives me 5 free trades every year, so overall the 5k I keep with the bank pays back.

I have the Scotiabank card, but mainly for the 6 lounge accesses that are included. They do also seem to have a better two factor authentication system so I've had to use them while travelling at times because TD Aeroplan only had SMS... which while travelling abroad doesn't work (unless you have like wifi calling)

I was given a RBC avion infinite in place of my HSBC worldelite but they are not giving 0% exchange fees. I called to ask and was told (after she originally misled me and I brought up the fine print in the welcome letter that mentioned the 2.5%) that there are no perks carried over and that they charge the 2.5, which now has me hunting for a better no exchange rate card and has led me to the scotia option. Why didnt I get the 0% for the avion? Any ideas?

I'm really disappointed in the redemption rates over the past year. I've only been able to redeem Aeroplan at a 1.2 cent - 1.3 cent rate for most trips to Europe or the US. Even looking 10 months into the end of Feb 2025 the redemption compared to the cash rate is still terrible. A family of 4 trip from Toronto to Lisbon is now 320,000 pnts plus $670 in taxes. We went to Miami in Nov 2022 for 20k/pp now its 26k for the same period. I'm not sure how the redemption rate is set at 2.2 cent
