These Beaver Ponds were LOADED with HUGE Trout! (Fly Fishing for Brown Trout)
In this video Andrew spent 4 weeks fishing for 1 huge brown trout in a tiny creek!!
This creek has a unique set of beaver ponds that allows the wild brown trout inside of them to grow far larger than they ever would in the tiny creek they inhabit. Andrew spent several weeks targeting one fish that was over 20 inches before eventually catching one of the big brown trout in the ponds. Fly fishing for these brown trout with 7x tippet and tiny size 20 or smaller dry flies was a blast! Dry fly fishing for big brown trout never gets old.
Thank you so much for watching!!

Stunningly beautiful brown trout! Hard to imagine them living there with that much vegetation around. A marvellous footage, indeed.

I really enjoyed that the quality of them browns is unmatched. The amount of time you put into making a 25min video is staggering but the results are worth it, it's the reason i always get a bit excited when a new Hardman vid pops up. Well done Andrew! Bet you was a tad jealous on this one Jon. 😜🎣

Colorado Goliath ! Good job , beautiful big browns !
Incredibly unique area. I loved the fishing and the video quality was top notch 👍👍
Nice video!! My biggest brown to date took me three trips and over 15 hours to land! When you invest that kind of time in a single fish it makes it so much sweeter when you land it!

I recently found some beaver ponds off the beaten trail here in Utah. It's a small creek but the ponds are deep and the fish are big. The only challenge is that they can be easy to spook because the water is so still and clear. Thanks for sharing the hype!

Gorgeous fish. Hard to believe their size and abundance in such a small pond. Intrigued by the beaver motif. I fished a lot of beaver ponds in Northern Ontario as a kid. (Black flies galore) but never found this kind of abundance.
@hardmanfishing

Well abundance is relative. These fish were caught over the course of days and days of fishing. But yes this was a particularly good set of ponds!
Awesome

Far different from the beaver ponds of New England but one thing never changes. The best day to fish them is the overcast and light rain ones. In ours an 8in Brook is a giant and roll casting is a must if you want any gear left. Sitting on a stump in the rain casting to those natives is an experience. An explanation of the gear your using for each of these awesome video's would be nice including the flies your casting
Nice! My dreams to find giant brookies in a remote beaver pond.
Well done man!🙂👍 Even missing the one you were aiming for you caught some BEAUUUUUTIES my friend. You got nuthin ta be bummed out about bro. Props man, PROPS! Love the vidz and plz keep em comin. Peace ✌😎 (besides, you know where that one lives🤫)

That's awesome!! You got started early. I didn't pick up a fly rod until I was in high school, and then didn't take it seriously until I was probably 19-20 years old.
Look at the adipose fin at 16;10 wow!! those two misses on the big one looked like a late set on the video. awesome job! after seeing the giant... they are out of the genetics with the spots on the adipose fin!!

Really enjoyed the video Thank you 👍! Those were some beautiful Browns in the Beaver Ponds. The last Brown was a brute ... nicely done landing it ! I noticed a lot of downed trees in the background. Due to Beavers, other causes or combination of both ? Do you know if the beavers populated the area naturally on their own or were they placed there ? 😊 😎

If you don’t mind me asking I’m going to West Virginia in a few months for a trip and I’m relatively new to trout fishing because there isn’t a lot where I’m from so do you have any suggestions
I prefer your videos over your brothers . Great job
Just came across this video, beautiful fish! Wondering what your mindset/strategy is on the hookset? It looks like you are waiting until long after the fish has eaten the fly to set, and are setting very softly, and it works! Do you find that leads to more successful hookups? Thanks!
Great work on those browns! Question on that last one you lost in the cut bank…was there room below you to walk it down? You walked towards the trouble spots on that log and undercut.
@hardmanfishing
2 жыл бұрын
Well I didn't have much of a choice because I was throwing size 24 flies and light tippet. I couldn't really horse the brown out of the area he wanted to go. If I could have walked him down I definitely would have
I have done well on bever ponds for rainbows and brook trout up to two pounds. Never caught a brown in one though.

I love your footage and the places you fish. I hope you’re using words like “big” and “huge” to get views, which, I wouldn’t blame you for. But, those are just average browns. Big is 22. Huge is 24+. Either way, I can tell you’re a great angler and def know what you’re doing. And you’re finding some rad places to fish! Just gotta keep it real with you homie ;) not trying to throw shade. I’m def hitting that subscribe button!
Going to get my first rod and reel combo tomorrow. I heard 5,6 weight, 9 foot pole is the best for targeting trout? I was curious what brand rod you use?
@hardmanfishing
2 жыл бұрын
Yep! I'd say go with a 9 foot 5 wt personally. And I use renegade fly rods!
Surprised there aren't any big birds around, looks like fast food!
What wt rods do you guys have for trout fishing? I know you have 3 wts or something for the small creeks, but I’m curious. I’m looking to get another rod or 2.
