Below the surface, this Longbow carp rod range from Daiwa harnesses great power and delivers remarkable levels of control. Thanks to MT profile, Daiwa has also been able to push the design limits of the test curve, bringing a groundbreaking 4lb TC model. Such a test curve would have been more familiar on a marker or spod rod, however, the outstanding casting power is remarkably well balanced with a responsive and forgiving tip action that ensures even tentative hook holds are not penalised.

Not at all, some rods are cheep and nasty and are terrible. Also the quality of carbon the amount of resin used effects how long it holds its stiffness. A 3k carbon rod will have more resin in it than a 1k carbon rod so will lose it stiffness faster. Also each rod will have a different action and weight different amounts, normally the the cheaper the carbon the heavier the rod will be.

These have been out a while now. Angling times also did a feature on them. Longbows have always been up there as one of the best production rods out there. The person above mentioned Kaizen, which I imagine Korda took a lot of inspiration from these rods or at least the blanks, as they were avid Daiwa users. Out of my price range, but if you can, why not. 👌🏻🎣🔥

Carpology is nothing more than an online advertising magazine paid by manufactures to promote their products. The beards can only give promising praise and descriptions of the products. They are not reviewers and they are certainly not experienced enough anglers and they do not have the required skill set to be able to give detailed non biased opinions about the products. So take it for what it is, online advertising to have a look at if they are promoting something you want to have a look at.

Wouldn't it be so refreshing if they tested a product (any product!) and said... Well I've gotta say they're crap. Imagine! Their reviews might even become credible going forward. And before you say that's not how the world works. That's how reviews used to work. These aren't reviews. Just infomercials. Spieling off Daiwa's description of the product.

Sorry mate, but what sort of angling do you do abc? It all depends on your needs as an angler, and nobody is asking you to buy them! I’m sure they’ll fly off the shelves. Do you do any long range casting, big carp (50+) is it European trips or relatively small English waters, public lakes? If the answers are small public lakes with short casts then you’re probably fine with buying budget rods (there’s a good selection of rods for under £100 each that suit smaller waters and the fish that reside in them - these aren’t designed with a low budget in mind, however, I know a guy who builds custom rods up in the Cotswolds and if he gave you a quote for a set of three it’s make your eyes water (and mine) 😂 compared to these new reasonably priced Daiwa rods. The best selling point for me is (handmade in uk 🇬🇧) Not much is these days so it’s great to see and for that fast action throughout the blank for quick recovery on a long cast making sure you hit that clip every time, plus your spod rod needs to be the same/better. A lot of people I’ve seen in France may have 3 $hit hot rods but their spod doesn’t match so they are forced to fish closer as they can’t bait up effectively. As I say, it’s all down to budget, and of course they’re not for everyone, but at the higher end of the scale they are well priced and have the power and nice action for fast recovery on those long casts and playing fish - to have rods with power for long range just makes your week long sessions so much more enjoyable as you’re not fooked by spodding 30/40+ a day and some at the right time of year. I use Free spirit rods and they are a dream to fish with along with my big pit reels as France is often on the cards 3/4 sometimes 5 trips a year. But hey, we all have budgets unfortunately, fish within it and do what we love. C’mon the carp
