It is an absolute shame that Roger Deakins has not won yet, but you have to admit here that Elswit's cinematography in There Will Be Blood is one of the most greatest cinematic achievements of the 21st Century.

That's still quite debatable. TWBB's cinematography was impressive, but you can pause at any moment during The Assassination and behold a beautiful painting. Beside, TWBB probably only won because the still-Oscarless Deakins split between No Country and The Assassination. The combined effort of Deakins is undeniable that year. And he still doesn't have an Oscar.

"PRISONERS" as a whole--Jackman and Gyllenhaal, director Villenueve, and its script--was snubbed all throughout awards season. Seriously, we all in a decade will be utterly astonished as to how underrated "PRISONERS" was when it was released.

I know!!! Of all the new releases of the past year, prisoners is by far my favourite. Every element of that film worked perfectly, but the academy doesn't care if it's not political or surrounded by ridiculous hype. I am astonished that prisoners was snubbed when the very unimpressive and overrated american hustle was nominated for 10 awards.

It's THE best cinematographic achievement of the 21st century. Absolutely unmatched. Just rewatch it if you don't believe me. @@heisen-bones we're talking about acting as far as I am concern. And while we're at it I think I liked Tom Hardy much more than Leo. You know just eating raw meat and sleeping in animal carcass don't contribute to great acting. The dedication is nice but It don't moves me as much as Michael Fassebender Steve Jobs. In the end I think a good performance is one which makes you feel something and I don't think Leo's performance was of that stature between nominees of that year. He should have gotten the Oscar for The Wolf of Wall Street. Much better than his grunting and mumbling performance in The Revenant.
