I think its funny that the one switch game that was supposed to be rare, Super Mario 3D All stars, was the most abundantly overstocked, that you could still find it for about a year after it was supposed to stop being sold

Nintendo has been doing this since the Wii. Not every store got one and sometimes it was 5 consoles per store. Youd also have to wait months for the next shipment if you didnt get one. Even in light of scalpers they generally dont care about supply issues because scalpers add to the percieved demand. They know what theyre doing and its intentional.

I genuinely feel like Nintendo was completely oblivious on how much people want classic Paper Mario to return. Now that they're finally remaking TTYD and it's selling out like crazy, perhaps this could be a sign for Nintendo on how much people really want the series to make a return to form?

An unexpected video with no broadcast introduction! Out of the blue!

I feel like this has been happening because Nintendo didn’t realise how hyped up this game would be. Or, it could be because they’re trying to make it less likely for the game to leak… which I would understand for anything except TTYD. This game is a remake of an almost 20 year old game so why would they be more worried about this game being leaked than TOTK, Pikmin 4 or Mario Wonder

They didn't expect it to be this major of a release with them practically being in Switch 2 mode and in turn made a smaller initial print run of the game. It'll most likely be another Metroid situation where it'll be in stock eventually

Stock is still an issue with Nintendo. Remember the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Special Edition launch day and "make-up days" and all of the Switch Online Controllers? Amiibo stock is also still bollocks at times. I spent one month trying to buy Pyra and Mythra, and I have only seen Sefirot once in stores.

It is sad but at the same time, it’s kind of funny how much Nintendo seems to hate this game. Even when they give it to us, they still don’t want us to have it. I find it hilarious

@@ramenbomberdeluxe4958 i mean big corporations have always been out of touch, their massiveness is the reason. it takes time for people to be heard because there are so many people to be heard. the ttyd outcry was so large that nintendo must have heard it several times and decided to give it to us. they just didn't know quite how big the amount of people that wanted it was.

@@pikminpro2001I think they barely care for some Westerner's opinion. It's likely that the Japanese side thought it was suddenly a good time for it.

It could also be because Nintendo's trying to keep the game from being leaked. Have you noticed there's not been any leaks besides a few bits of music? Reviewers have said there's not any brand new story content, but there are new post-game bosses. We should've seen spoilers pop up by now. It's very weird given Nintendo's games tend to get leaked a week before release and we see screenshots and videos everywhere. I hope this game becomes the best selling Paper Mario game and best selling Mario RPG in general. It's wishful thinking but I want it to sell like New Horizons and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

It definitely will be sold well since it’s a widely popular Mario game. There are several other GameCube titles that deserve remakes on the Switch, like Doshin the Giant, Pokemon Colloseum, Sonic Heroes, and Super Smash Bros. Melee. Pikmin and Metroid Prime have already been remade, so I didn’t name them.

@@siyahseeker I know it'll sale, I just want it to be very successful so Nintendo gets the massage we won't creative Mario RPGs, not bland and generic action-adventure games with not well thought out gimmicks. Don't forget Double Dash. That's a game that would benefit from a remake.

Not gonna pick it up right now, but I definitely will sometime in the coming months

Can't wait for your review of this one buddy.

I'll probably get this game for my birthday as I have WAY too many games I need to play for my own channel, but I do want to check it out since it's a remake of a beloved classic. Though this whole scandal about the preorders is a bit concerning. Hopefully, it's just an unfortunate mishap that doesn't happen again.

I have a slight feeling that this is some sort of scheme pulled by higher ups at Nintendo (probably Miyamoto if I’m being honest) just so this game doesn’t sell that well, therefore there’s no reason to make new games in the style of ttyd because “the game didn’t sell well so that means people didn’t like it”

I wouldn't put it past Nintendo not to expect people to love this game _that much._ It's like they don't know we exist half of the time.

I tried to order something from GameStop app once and had to call and cancel it.

My heart is telling me that this is Nintendo underestimating the demand for this title. Which makes sense. They snubbed us on Paper Mario for years, not getting what we want, so they probably thought this would be a throwaway title. Not knowing that _this is the epitome of EVERYTHING WE'VE BEEN WANTING FROM PAPER MARIO!!!_ How they f*cked that up, I have no idea. Some people are just stupid apparently. But here we are. Us finally getting what we want, and Nintendo being confused by the fact we're happy to be getting what we want.

Welp, now it looks like I'm going to have to get to my local GameStop before it opens on Thursday Update: When i got my copy today, someone had to grab the games out of some back room at said that there were 14 copies, maybe there is some foul play?

Hey Demeech, just wanna say you’re one of my favorite Nintendo content creators, one reason for that being I could trust that you don’t spoil any game whatsoever before release :)

I would have got a NES classic if I was able to get one, I also had to pay a scalper to get the gamecube controller adapter for Wii U when smash bros 4 was out and it was annoying.

The 30 fps isnt a huge dela breaker but the reaction commands are a bit trickier to get now.

Hot take: Super Paper Mario is the better game (hopefully it gets a remake or a port)

This might be a sign that Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door will most likely sell twice (if not three times) as much as Super Mario RPG in a month after release, which was insane for a Mario RPG game, by the way. So I do imagine that Nintendo is not expecting it to sell well.

This same thing happened to Metroid prime remastered hopefully they restock soon

For Metroid Prime Remastered the same problem happened, Nintendo didn't expect the demand and did not have enough physical copies in store.

God I hope I can pick it up from Target Thursday morning because I have a Target gift card from Christmas I was saving it for.

I uhh. Just walked in the local gamestop and it was there. Amiibo, or game, etc. If it wasn't, I go to the local small game shop. They had it or got it in like a week if ordered.

Nintendo being arbitrary with every decision for their products went through even for distribution is never going to stop or getting old. It should be considered their usual shenaningangs, process, a staple and even a tradition.

Honestly - I'll get my copy digitally. I'm not much of a physical game collector.
