She shared that she wasn't as tall when she was younger and when she started out playing so to compensate she trained hard like a libero and then growth spurt she was able to spike. She really is a total package player also her passion is impressive.

What I respect about Kim the most is not her great volleyball skills, but her leadership and never-ending passion. She was the star player and ace of the Korean NT and her clubs from the moment she played professional volleyball at the age of 17, and she still continues to play like that at the age of 31. Scoring a record-breaking 207 points in the London Olympics, setting a Grand Prix record of 42 points against Russia in 2014...these are just a few examples of her presence in the Korean team. For all these years, she has overworked nonstop, but she still continues to devote herself to the team in every game, regardless of the fact that Korea can't get even near the medal podium. It is a shame and a great sadness for all volleyball fans alike that a player of her level cannot get a major tournament level medal, but nevertheless, don't give up Kim! Aim for Tokyo and don't give up!

byte On point. The fact that she could not get medals of major tournaments hits me so much 😭 She could easily get that if she plays for any country but Korea. She's been carrying the team for the past 15 years to the extent where she overworked herself. She did that for the team and her teammates. That's why I really hope she would qualify for Tokyo 2020 and acquire the medal she has been dreaming long.

There really is no stopping Yeon Koung Kim!

When all the so-called best volleyball players in the world has to focus only on their own game and ably supported by skilled and talented teamates, Kim not only has to bring her high level of play each and every game but also burdened by looking after every corner of that volleyball court and motivating her teamates. And it takes a passionate ,dedicated and amazing player to do that. This what makes Kim a league of her own.

wen flores I agree with you. She is on another level. I bet no one would be able to do as what she has been and are doing now. No one are as mentally strong as her. Defeats after defeats. When things went wrong, she blames herself but she still shows her cheerful side. No one knows what's in her heart and mind. She keeps things to herself as such not to affect others. The best captain ever who just has no luck.

I'm a Brazilian but when I watch this game I just realized in the end being on the side of Korean team because of KYK. Shes such a legend and the entire team is sick(really cool).

Yeon Kyoung Kim is one in a million indeed.

Because of her large proportion in Korean volleyball, she participated in almost every competition. Nevertheless, KIM is still showing great skills.

I took it for granted when she won the MVP in the 2012 Olympics. I didn't realize then that it was so rare to get MVP when your team is not even playing in the championship. She ended the games then with 207, way ahead of the second rank.

When on a combination play. KYK is deadly. That's the ace of Korean team even before the combination play

Consider the player in her level, they don't have to play in every game due to the strong support from their teammates, by KYK has to play in every set and always got the highest scores in her team. It's completely exhausting. But that's what made her a true LEGEND

honestly speaking, i think they couldve had better chance in the 2020 olympics if the twins were in the team. their setter was not as good as dayeong, regardless they still got 4th place with their spirits and teamwork👍🏼

She and her twin sister were serious CRIMINALS since they were *ELEMENTARY SCHOOL* , they have been quite terrible and brutal school gangsters, such as threatening other students with weapons(knife), extorting money, stealing, verbal abuse, giving pressure and forcing, swearing at team member's parents in front of them, demanding harsh behavior, and framed her teammate as a thief and made her assaulted by the coach. But their mother was a former national volleyball player and influential person to the Korea Volleyball Association, they could be safe until their atrocities were revealed.

Can't agree. She was still in her prime until 2016. She was MVP (and Best Spiker/Best Scorer) of the Turkish League in 2015, Best Scorer of the Champions League in 2016, and scored similar points&similar attack-success rate as 2012 London in 2016 Rio (Because S.Korea couldn't get to the semi-finals and finished 5th, Kim couldn't get her name on the statistics leader board)

byte I agree. During the 2015 Turkish cup, she won the triple crown= best scorer, mvp & best outside hitter. Even during 2016, she showed great performance and was topping the score board. I think her level lowered a bit when she entered her 30’s, but she still makes me doubt that because she won the 2019 fivb world club championship’s best outside hitter, and ranked #3 for best scorer. And also, she sometimes becomes the mvp of regular matches, if only Ezcasibasi vitra’s coach didn’t make her the second libero. Also, despite having a great attack rate, she gave 71% receive rate, which is as good as a libero. Definitely, her attacks isn’t as powerful as Egonu, Boskovic or Zhu, but there’s no denying that for her age, she’s still extremely good and effective. Her smart plays and mentality is something that makes her distinct and superior from all the other players. ❤️
