Also out of curiosity one time I stopped touching a tank for 2 years until the water was so low it couldn’t be seen above the gravel, refilled it with my well water about 4 months ago and the population is now booming with shrimp and snails. I genuinely do not understand how the hell they are still alive. Hell even the Java moss and Süsswassertang survived and is thriving, aquatic life is so hardy it’s astounding. I also didn’t even use the aquarium light at the time the only light it got was from my ceiling.

AhH I love African Clawed Frogs 🐸💚😊 they’re so funny to watch also, and no offense to them, but they’re really dumb. they’ve got bones and skin that’s basically made of the equivalent to glass and paper, they can get really sick so damn easily. They’re very bad swimmers (which is funny cause what???) makes it difficult for them to swim up for air. they can’t see very much of anything and I’ll look over some times to see one attempting to eat a rock.

Yeah, one of those fuckers got out of my mom's prized fish tank when I was 3. I kept trying to tell her about it, but since she was in the shower and I was a child, she thought I was excited about the frogs because I loved them. Eventually, I herded it into her room, and she tried to clean it and put it back, and it wasn't long until everything in the tank died, even her prized angel fish. She was devastated and stopped owning fish after that.

The squeezing action to caught on tape was him squeezing eggs out of her. Our gouramis did the same thing. After all of the strenuous activity you have to separate them because she will eat the eggs and or babies. He generally has a bubble nest to keep the eggs in, if they fall out he will frantically gather them up in his mouth and try to spit them back into the nest. This is why he got so aggressive. If they were successful at breeding, by now the females have likely eaten all of the eggs.

My mom thought she bought an African dwarf frog for my sister many years ago. Turns out it was an albino African clawed frog, that grew at least 3 to 4 times of what we expected it to. We would feed it $.30 fish in the fish flakes because we didn’t know what to do. One of the cats took it out of the tank and dropped it down the stairs and it still lived for over 6 years

My African dwarf frog was a solo creature for the 1st 2.5 years i had him. Its not that we didnt try putting other fish/ snails. He would just eat them or bully them to death. So we decided to stop the sacrifices and he would fly solo. He was content. But i wanted to try again. This time i bought a gold fish that was 2x his size. They inspected eachother for a while but now they get along. My husbamd swears he saw the fish take some of the brine shrimp i feed them, and bring it directly to the frog. We've also successfully integrated 2 snails and they are all doing well. I guess the frog learned from his years of isolation??
