Everytime you pry against the fiberglass shell (from the inside) you stress fracture the gellcoat. Weakening the structure.

Fix you main door fiberglass edge on the right side. Use stainless steel screws. For removal of the power door. 1) grind the gelcoat around door about 1/8 below height of gelcoat. Just remember fiberglass does not bond well to gelcoat. 2) put a wax backing board behind the door cutout. 3) fiberglass new glass over hole from outside. 4) remove wax backer plate. 5) fiberglass inner door cover. 6) sand , and fill pinholes, 7) sand and paint match gelcoat. 8) you are done.

Instead of the leaf blower I’d recommend getting an air compressor, hose, & wand attachment. I use it all the time to blow out my garage. The compressor has so many more uses to inflate your tires, blow out your wet dry vac filter, use for an air nailer which you may end up needing for your build.

Been subscribed for the last 2 and a bit years, great to see your progress as both a creator and camper renovator. I think doing the top as well would of course add more work but give you peace off mind that your foundations are fresh, stable and clean. I suppose you never know what could be under some of that insulation. Personally seeing the bottom half white too, I would consider having the colour theme of the finished project being white as the dominant choice since it makes the camper feel and look much more spacious. White and Grey combos always pair well!

I've been thinking about how I would build out a camper to fit your needs and had some ideas to share! Because you were having so many issues with condensation from cooking and heating I'd recommend getting rid of the propane system entirely and enclose the propane cabinet or use it for outside storage. I saw in a previous video that you already have a pretty beefy power station, I'd recommend using that as the basis for your power system and you can use it to cook with a portable induction cooktop. I use one at home and it can get searing hot with a cast iron pan, something I know your previous propane cooktop struggled with. You can always keep a jet boil as a back up. In addition to the power station I'd add 2x 100ah LiFePo batteries in parallel to run the lights, 12V fridge and a Diesel heater. You can also have a 12v plug or hardwire a connector to charge your power bank off of. The power bank will likely only charge at about 10A but if it's plugged in all the time it should have time to recharge between meals. To charge the batteries I'd install a DC to DC charger to charge off of your truck while driving as well as a 30-40 120v charger suited for LiFePo batteries to charge from shore power. You seem to travel around day to day and have limited roof space so I'm not sure I would do any solar, you can always plug a portable panel into the power bank if needed. For heat, I'd recommend going with one of those 2kw chinese diesel heaters either permanently installed or a portable unit. In a small space like that it should be able to run on low all night long and barely use and fuel or electricity, plus it is a dry heat so it wont cause condensation. Bonus as well is most of them now are bluetooth capable or have a little remote you can adjust it from bed. The best part of doing a renovation like this is you can design the camper to fit your use case and your needs perfectly, I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Keep up the good work! Be sure to use the black bytal tape not the grey! It's much stronger and longer life! It has a tare substance! Talk with a knowledgeable sales person! In a RV shop! It stays more playable and doesn't become brital like the grey bytal tape does! Also use silka around all components on side! Silicone does not stick to fiberglass long term! Silka is designed for fiberglass! Hope that helps out!

I painted my entire house with Kilz after purchasing it from a long-time smoker. She'd smoked in the house for 30+ years and the smoke had really infused itself into everything. It sucked but it makes ~20 years and still no smell from the smoke. 5 stars for Kilz!

Problem is now your foam will not bind to the walls with the paint as it would have to the bare fiberglass. You will also need to lift the top of the camper before you attach the foam to get rid of the side buldging you created by removing the foam.

I'm so glad you went back and cleaned it up more, AND wore good ppe, too! I firmly believe this camper will serve you well for years. You will have put so much blood, sweat, tears, and love into her/him that your spirit will be imprinted all over it, and you will have given her/him new life. That Kilz mold primer is great. I've used it to prime bathrooms. ✌️❤️🙋‍♀️

Replacing your rigid insulation with a much lighter and softer insulation like the fiberglass insulation that is lined with a foil on one side, will help in lightening the weight of that camper, you’ll install battens anyway as your nailers for your wall panels so the insulation will just fit right in between your battens or nailers

Wouldn’t glass insul absorb condensation and hold dampness creating mold... I believe high density foam or polyurethane would do better at preventing that though at a higher cost and more labor.

Jono don't worry about the adventure vids at this point, get the rig finished to the standard you desire. If you think it's getting mundane (I don't) maybe introduce a morning cup of Joe, get Tress on a paint brush or have a guest appearance from Luna testing out sleeping options. Love the vids and look forward to seeing the project completed.

18:12 I would counter. You should do the sanding indoors and not use a leaf blower to blow it all out the garage door. It's basically fine plastic particulate, it shouldn't go into nature. Better to vacuum it up and throw it away to a place it is contained safely.

Tape a pleated furnace air filter onto the intake side of a box fan for a low cost dust remover. That was an awful mess, and a good thing to know for people out hunting for these fiberglass campers. They're not perfect. Nice that you're starting with a nice clean slate. You might look into a pocket hole jig to help with your interior build, and maybe get your jack brackets powder coated since you've gotten everything nice!

Once your done doing all this work, have a long think about combustion, i.e. calculate the amount of water vapor produced when burning propane(C3H8). i.e. C3H8 + 5(O2) => 3(CO2) + 4(H2O) + heat. So that sloshy liquid inside the propane canister ends up being a bunch of sloshy water inside the camper, condensing on the walls, floors,... Venting from inside the camper only eliminates some of it. So for heating you definitely want a furnace( propane, wood, diesel) that vents to the outside... A good power vent if you do propane cooking in cold weather...
