I know what you were trying to say, but your wording makes it sound prejudice towards girls (cause just "girls" doesn't always mean children). The target demographic _is_ female children, you are definitely right about that. It is childish not because its for girls, but specifically because its for _children_ who are girls (just for those who may be confused as to what you were saying).

I genuinely do not know what causes the performance to suck so bad... It lags _a lot_ during loading screens. But the graphics aren't even that game breaking, and there's not _that_ much going on at any given time, each room is relatively small, so I do not know what causes the Switch to struggle so much (my best guess is that its not well optimized like most Nintendo games).

Omg I’m finally not the only one that thought the style reminded me of Balan 😭

I don't agree with the notion of this game being directionless, or being nothing but a bunch of Mario Party mini-games. I love the Mario Party series and many of the mini-games, but what I've played from the demo has much more depth and substance than a 30 second to minute long mini-game. This isn't a multiplayer party game, it's a single player action-adventure game. I feel there's quite a lot of depth, especially since there's going to be boss battles, and I feel this is going to be a pretty sizable adventure inside the Sparkle Theater. The general gameplay from what I've played was fun. I hope the game isn't brain dead/mindless. This game reminds of how initial impressions of Crafted World looked, as the demo had the game running at an average resolution of 576P with it sometimes coming to 675P and in handheld mode it could go from 396P-495P. Performance was pretty much a rock solid 60FPS. The art style really hid a lot of that. I'm hoping the final game will have these problems ironed out. I don't think this is a game that's held back by the Switch's hardware, this doesn't seem like a demanding game at all.

@@Demeech You are 100% right about that unfortunately. They always like to pinpoint on a specific game and act like, "Ugh, Switch is such a garbage console, we need a new system ASAP!" I remember people tried using the Switch hardware for why the Switch version of Sonic Colors Ultimate sucked.

@@ranpan6082 That was especially infuriating, it's like people forgot that Sonic Colors was originally on the hecking Wii. Like, the original was a pretty smooth 30fps on Wii, and yet the Switch port runs WORSE than the Wii version, so it should be obvious that Colors Ultimate running bad on Switch was solely the result of incompetence, not the Switch itself...right?? But then again, I've seen people who unironically think the Switch isn't really any more powerful than the freaking Wii and that Nintendo hasn't upgraded their hardware specs much in over 20 years, and think that the Switch isn't at all powerful enough to run Xbox 360 games or whatever, so...yeah.

It drives me crazy how many love to look at one bad port, or something that's the result of laziness, or incompetence and say, "We need a Switch Pro/2, Nintendo's hardware is so trash, it can't run PS2 games right!" People are absolutely stupid if they think the Switch is barely more powerful than the Wii. The Switch can run PS3 and Xbox 360 games no problem, and if you have a competent developer, like Panic Button, they can get some impressive PS4 and Xbox One games running on the system and still look and run well. People will use Pokemon Scarlet & Violet to say we need new hardware when the issues with that game come down to greed, laziness, and incompetence from Game Freak and the Pokemon Company.

It seems that Peach's new voice is inconsistent. In the Swordfighter play, she doesn't really sound like Peach. But then in the Partissian play, she does. It would've been better if they stick to either side instead of mixing them.

Just downloaded the demo. I really want to like this game, I love Peach. My biggest gripe so far has to be how crappy it looks in handheld mode.

I am just happy that this is the first original major AAA game released this year that is not a shite-tier live service game. I really need this to wash the Suicide Squad and Skull & Bones out of my mouth. Also, the Castilian Spanish version of the game has a very clever name for Stella. She is named "Lucy" which probably comes from the verb "Lucir." As for the lack of full voice-acting, maybe they did not have the budget for it. Since they must dub in not only English and Japanese but also Spanish (For both Spain and Latin America), French (For both Europe and Canada), Portuguese (For both Brazil and Portugal), Dutch, German, Italian, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Korean. Only the big titles like Breath of the Wild, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Tears of the Kingdom, and Super Mario Bros. Wonder had full voice acting.

I enjoyed the demo a lot, the worst thing I found was the framerate. Not only in the cutscenes like you mentioned but in between loading areas and after dodging there were lost frames/dips. It also took a little to get used to the sword fighting. I wanted to press another button and at first I spammed a dodge, but then I figured out how it worked and the difference between a jump dodge with A and a roll/parry dodge with B. My best guess for the 720p is parity for handheld but that's not really a strong argument. Hopefully it's just the demo and we'll see more polish at the end of the month with the completed game.

On one hand, cutscenes are where frame drops matter least--you could even cap them to make them more like movie files. Consistent lower framerates still look smooth, and you don't have to worry about input lag. But, on the other, they are also where you can optimize the heck out of everything by having pre-rendered assets. For example, the part where Peach is talking to Stella looks like it's just them in front of a blurred background. Why not just take a screenshot and then blur it, and put that in the background? And why not just prerender the transformation scenes if they're going to lag?

I liked it. I didn't expect much at first. However, I was surprised by the gameplay so far!

I’m gonna say that we didn’t get full voice acting since the talking flowers were very experimental in Mario Wonder and they weren’t sure how they’d go over with people. Because of that they didn’t want that kind of voice acting put in the Mario series games coming out immediately after Wonder in case people didn’t like the talking flowers. I think now that the talking flowers were pretty well received though we should see more voice acting in Mario games going forward.

It might also be a budget reason. Since they would have to make 10+ dubs. Including making multiple dubs for Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Chinese to account for dialectal and cultural differences. Only the major releases have had multiple dubs, or releases where spoken language is necessary for gameplay. Those are Breath of the Wild, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Ring Fit Adventure, Tears of The Kingdom, and Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

I thought that Super Mario Bros. Wonder had at least a Brazilian Portuguese dub. Fire Emblem Heroes also has a Brazilian Portuguese translation, and it is the only FE game to officially be localised into any Portuguese dialect@@ExtremeWreck

I want to like this game so badly-- Peach is my favorite Mario character, so this is still big news for me. I'm just worried about the actual gameplay aspect. The demo made it all feel so short. So many things were introduced, yet hardly elaborated on. I know it's at least partly because it's a demo, but I'm hoping each genre has more levels, because what we got here was handholdy and short.

I always thought of this of the red dot and blue vest toad, in any of Mario kart, party, or sport that peach does a raffle lottery to see which of those red doted /blue vest toad is going to be in that event. Same applies with Bowser and the Koopas

The usual explanation in Donkey Kong Jr. is that this is just Luigi wearing red. It's regarded as his first appearance.

Demo was the most boring thing I've ever played ngl. I don't wanna judge the entire game based of that but, not terribly hopeful following what I played.

It's fun that this game released One day before Women's day

My 5yr old daughter loves this game. She loves all the different characters and costumes, it’s not too hard for her to play save the boss sections: and the odd section she asks me to do when she’s stuck. It’s overtaken Paper Mario Origami King as her favourite game with Lego games behind that. Had it not been for her I wouldn’t have bought this or would have waited for a sale. I bought 2 games for £84 (you get £4.20 worth of e-shop credit so £80 or £40 per game) via eshop and online sub: have Paper Mario 1,000 doors preordered). It is a simple game, but it’s a lot of fun. The slowdown and basic graphics are a bit disappointing. Like they saved money by putting a smaller team on it or they rushed it!? After a while you get past this though and just enjoy the game.

I hate the flowers in Yoshi's Island because once you've collected them you then have to hope and pray that when the spinning thingy stops that it actually stops on one of the flowers because otherwise you have to play the entire freaking level again if you want a 100% it very annoying to leave it up to random chance whether you get to 100% the level or not.

I'm sorry man I tried to listen but the continuous variation in the cadence of your voice as you speak made it difficult

They should’ve done like Wario Land Shake It or Epic Yarn where the base game was very easy for kids or “cozy” gamers but 100%ing it was actually somewhat challenging (for a Nintendo game - not saying 100%ing Wario was Fromsoft hard or anything, but it took at least some skill). Maybe that’ll turn out to be true once people play the full game, who knows

I have to admit, first party Nintendo game aesthetics go a long way for me. If the gameplay is simple with fun activities, im fine with it. Im looking forward to kung fu Peach! Im a collectoholic too. The baking part takes me back to Fantasy Life.

Oof, I didn’t really take much notice of that when playing the demo but hopefully this will be sorted when the full game comes out.

My issue with "Princess Peach: Showtime!" is Peach's voice, because it sounds way too deep. I know it's still the same voice actor, Samantha Kelly, but Peach just sounds like Sam. Like, she didnt even try to do her Peach voice. It's like how in "The Super Mario Bros. Movie," Chris Pratt didn't try and do a Mario voice. It was literally Chris Pratt's voice in Mario, and the same thing is happening here, where it's just Samantha Kelly's voice in Peach. Another thing i don't like about the game is Peach's new design. It reminds me of Movie Peach, who I was never really a fan of. Lastly, everybody is talking about how easy the game is, but I think it'll be very tedious and annoying to 100% the game (which I'm planning on doing), because there's like ten collectables in each level, and you can't backtrack for some odd reason, so if you missed some, you have to keep on replaying the same level, which doesn't sound like fun to me. Anyways, I guess we'll see.

Princess Peach Showtime > Mario vs. Donkey Kong (for the Switch. After the original, although Minis on the Move was hands-down the freshest, most original, most underrated and of course, one of the best games in the series alongside the original for the GBA, there has been such thing as Mario vs. Donkey Kong fatigue since the mid-late 2000s with Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2 which I guess was a breath of fresh air for its time save for Pauline being, like Princess Peach, the damsel in distress, and of course, March of the Minis which is the same exact game as the second one, sorry not sorry, and there’s Mini-Land Mayhem, which was technically a step-up from its predecessors albeit also partially the same game as. Actually, there’s been even more, like, way more Mario vs. Donkey Kong fatigue in the late 2010s via Tipping Stars and Amiibo Challenge, which I remember you pointed out very recently in your Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2024 review. Ok, maybe it’s not an objectively bad remake, maybe it is a fun game to play in its own right, but I dunno. I think you should stop forcing people to love this game and whichever other games you feel like people just love to hate, as if just being good at best wouldn’t pass. The people that don’t love him this game are not trying to look for something to hate, they just don’t think it’s necessary. You can love this game as much as you want, but you cannot change other people’s opinion on this game, plus the main reason why Princess Peach Showtime looks like a major step-up from Super Princess Peach is because this time, instead of gender-based power-ups like emotions, mainly rage, she can actually use original power-ups that can change her outfits depending on the mood and setting. So I don’t care what anyone says, as a grown man, I’m looking forward to this game!)

When is your trash or treasure for Sparks of Hope going to come out?

It reminds me of Animaniacs for Super Nintendo. If you never play it, google it. It moves like a Final-fight Street-of-Rage style beat-em up, but every level is like a whole different thing, and you never just beat up the boss and enemies, you have to activate something or flip a switch.

I really enjoyed the demo, I think my biggest gripe is that the levels are too short. Perhaps the demo did not show everything and there are 20 sparkles instead of the 10 shown in the demo.

God, I hope Princess Peach Showtime doesn't suck ass. I also hope that the developers of Nintendo (aka, Good-Feel I believe) decides to start addressing those issues in Princess Peach Showtime (especially the resolution and performance) in the final version.

You guys are having graphics and lag issues? I'm not. I didn't with Violet either. But as a trade-off my switch dies at 50-60%.

Perhaps this game is just an appreciation for Peach. Although Daisy has her beat with only ever being kidnapped once, by some Alien.

Performance issues? What? Seriously, I _just_ played through this demo yesterday, and the choppiness seen in this video was not present in the slightest! Now, that doesn't mean I'm accusing you of lying or anything. Rather, whatever caused the choppiness was a factor that _was not present_ for me. It can't be having a ton of memory left, because I... don't. There's only three things I can _possibly_ think of that might result in this: 1. Your Switch was low battery, while mine was full and plugged in. 2. Your Switch was docked, while mine was not. 3. You're using an OLED model, while I'm using the original model. Now, as for the actual _game..._ I honestly don't know how to feel about it. One level each of two styles is simply not enough of a sample size to give me an impression. It's _easy_ yes, but I expected that from the get-go, and especially now that I know Goodfeel is behind it... but the _true_ measure of their games is in the 100% though, and again, I can't get a feel for that.

I have performance issues with this game the cutscenes are laggy, frames drop when you discover new events and peaches voice when you jump just sounds so bad. like someone recorded it from a phone. I think if you expect people to pay 63 dollars at least make sure it performs well and doesn’t look like some DS game.

Hopefully these issues are fixed before the game releases in 2 weeks

Okay but where's my Waluigi game?

Unreal Engine in general is not ideal on the Switch. Like Demeech said in the video, Unreal isn't optimized that well for Switch hardware, and thus, takes a bit of a performance hit. Good Feel used Unreal for Yoshi's Crafted World, so it's not like they haven't used it before.

Honestly, I feel like this game could be like a kirby game, in a sense that they could add 'optional' but difficult rematches for every boss (either with a story reason they would come back, or just a hard mode), specially with Madame Grape, as I feel like a Final Boss should have some difficulty. Again, the keyword here is 'optional' boss rematches.

Super Princess Peach was the best first party DS game period fact.

I wonder if the game idea was originally for Yoshi 😢. Yeah the graphics stuttering reminded me of the background stuff on Kirby&TFL.

I’m waiting to see what people say about it when it is fully released. That being said, I did really enjoy the demo. Patisserie felt like an ongoing Mario Party mini game and I was all over that! Super fun!

As someone who replayed Super Princess Peach recently, I think the game is a little strange so far (so, you know, the usual for a Peach spinoff) I'm a little concerned about the swordfighting aspect, as it felt satisfying, yet a bit repetitive due to the animations. It's kind of a nitpick, but assuming there are more levels per genre that the demo didn't explore, it felt worth mentioning. Also, why are Peach's outfits so much cooler than usual mario powerups? Nintendo and their contractees have really been holding out on us, haha

Hopefully they fix the fps. It’s a bit distracting.

I think people are going way too hard on this game likely because it is Nintendo’s only announced new game for the year so far. If there were other new first party games to look forward too later in the year I feel people would be less critical of it. It’s a game targeted towards but not limited to younger girls and that’s fine. For what it sets out to achieve I think it does it well enough. Nothing outstanding but by no means a bad game

The most polarizing Nintendo Switch game since... Paper Mario the Origami King. (Although for different reasons in this case) That is my prediction. Loved by some, HATED by others. Although hopefully this game isn't forgotten like Yoshi's Crafted World (which TO BE FAIR... compared to Wooly World and Yoshi's Island, it was always an uphill battle.) I'm probably still getting this game despite the fact that I CLEARLY am not the age demographic for this game. And it's easy to use "well, it's not made for you" as a defense OR an attack mind you. I would hate for all these cool concepts and Peach's new and sweet assortment of Costume Powerups to go to waste, ya know? There is a lot to love but I think this WILL be the most controversial Nintendo Switch game since Origami King.

Yeah pretty much, I think the game is gonna be good still but it’s definitely not in our age demographic lol. Hopefully there’s some challenge with the extras or something like how Kirby games do.

When will they do a true Bowser solo game? That would be cool and besides there is a lot of potential with the idea.

If I'm being honest, this might just be a game that I'm probably gonna skip out on for now, and I'll save my money for the ttyd remake. I might get this game eventually, though. Depends on the reviews,but not ones from "gaming journalists"

I think this is game journalists should hopefully understand, It's simple and enjoyable gameplay is definitely a strong suit

It's not a brand new series, it's technically a spiritual sequel to Super Princess Peach

The blurry resolution in Handheld Mode is the big issue and that's really poor for a $60 game!!!!!!! Other than that and the sound not being louder, it was still a lot of fun but dragged a bit too much waiting for the Theet's speech to stop in Festival of Sweets!!!!!!! I feel that as simple as this game is, it should be able to be enjoyed as much in Handheld as on the TV!!!!!!! Also the brambles boss should have had a name shown!!!!!!!

The game seems to be all style no substance. Imma give the demo a go for myself tomorrow but judging by the gameplay and videos i've seen a lot of people's problems seem to be humored by the nonexistent difficulty and lackluster gameplay

I personally found the game to be exceptionally easy. Now, take in to consideration that I could only play the first two levels so it might be too early to know for sure if the entire game will be a walk in the park. I honestly couldn't see myself playing the game if it wasn't about Peach, and instead just some other generic character. It's not terrible by any means, but it's not really my cup of tea.

Only priblem I see here is game made on UE4. That's reason for low resolution and 30 fps. All because game developed by Good-Feel who made last Yoshi with same problems

Here is all this Preach game take: Luigi's Mansion, Mario Odyssey, Wario Master of Disguise, Kirby game... I have drawn Peach with Meta Knight's sword long ago. Did I predict that?!

I'm glad Princess Peach is no longer a damsel in distress. The only two games on the switch where she is. is super mario odyssey and origami king but that's because king olly is just a powerful villain

This game looks fun, but I don't know if I'm willing to spend $60 on it. Looks more like a $40 game than a full price $60 one.

The characters he's talking about are already established. They wouldn't be making new variations. Plus it very much seems like, if this was a rule, it isn't anymore.

This is really not a complain, but a thing I noticed is that Peach can't walk in this game.

There's something I don't understand though, the levels are supposed to be plays, but the characters in it act like the play they're in is real, like in the Swordfighthing one where they ask Peach to save their king, even though it's not technically a king, just another actor playing a king, who's been held hostage. They could be acting, but why would they be still acting when they're in very real danger from the Sour Bunch's attack ?

Haven't seen the game yet. But I would suspect this has something to do with the villain. They seem like they could be the reality warping or mind-controlling type. Or perhaps they have to still run each play in order to make money to keep it open.

@@Oceane1803 I went and watched the Demo's opening, and I have another possible answer. It sounds like the villain is taking over. Thus she could be forcing them to put on the play. Though there is also a huge magical thing that goes over the theater, too, that transforms it. That would suggest reality warping powers.

It would be cool if Sparkles like Stella were confirmed to be a type of Star Spirit, but sadly, I doubt they would do even something as simple as acknowleging the Star Spirits exist.
