That's what I was wondering too. I know herniated discs can really take you out. Mine wasn't even fully herniated and I had numbness in my hand coming and going so much I was scared to try to use it. The muscles around my neck also got so swollen and tight that my chest couldn't stretch when I breathed in, so breathing was painful as well.

Poor Heffer 😢 she must feel so much instant relief and post procedure rehab on that ultra soft hay must be heavenly for them. Farmers really need to make it a priority to have these animals checked out regularly for signs of distress, injury, abscess, all that stuff is obvious just by doing a quick inspection of the animal, keep them healthy, and most importantly keep them happy, I feel so sorry for animals that are suffering while under the care of a human being, really pisses me off! Regardless of the fate of the animal, while they’re alive, and under your care, keep them safe, clean, and healthy, no excuses.

Nate, I grew up on a farm in Central WI in the late 60's-70's and for the life of me, I do NOT ever remember any kind of "hoof care" being done. We milked 65 Holsteins so (at that time) it wasn't a small family farm, but one of the larger ones in my area. When did hoof care start to become a "thing"? Unfortunately, both parents and my older brother have passed so I can't ask them what they remember about taking care of lame issues, etc. Thanks for the videos.....they're much appreciated!

You provide a higher standard of care than many doctors I’ve had, and it makes a difference to the QOL of any patient to be treated humanely and gently with thought to their pain and fear. We had about 75 dairy cows for 30 years (1976-2007) and I helped my Dad treat a lot of sore feet. Didn't have a chute, just used a sling and a come-along to lift their legs. I can't say as we ever cut away nearly as much of the hoof as you guys regularly show, and they generally got better. Have hoof problems and hoof care really changed that much in recent years?

I feel for you with the herniated disk. Did my t7/8 last year and am still getting over it after surgery. Look after yourself and keep warm please. 🙏

Spent my earliest years on a small family dairy farm near Kansas City KS so cows were part of my daily life, but never saw things like this. Fascinating.

Probably the best hoof-trim video I've ever seen about digital dermatitis, the footage is EXCELLENT 👍👍👍 . Thank's a lot.

Take care of yourself. I’m in the same boat. With some torn tendons, ligaments and a partial tear hamstring tear. I watching you to recover. Thanks for the interesting content.

Dang she had it rough, probably feels great now it can heal properly! Unrelated to the video but, do cows recognise you if you visit the farm often enough? :)

I’ve got a couple cows that do. One will come and visit for some head scratches when I’m there.
