    That was excellent, Ben! Some of your best work, I think - the What If? comparisons and point about Ronan's consistency. And the Junior racing right now is insane, genuinely thought the Junior Women was up there with the best racing of the weekend. No offence to their predecessors, but that sounds mad just saying it.

    For Lachlan's front wash, one has to wonder if he'd had Loic Bruni's upper body strength, he might have been able to prevent his body from continuing forwards (over the front end) as the bike slowed down underneath him when the front got grip with the wheel turned. The wheel was gripping, but Lachlan's body momentum carried him over the front, and caused the washout. Would a stronger rider been able to push back against the body momentum and hold onto a centered body position?

    Thanks for the videos. I really appreciate the inside the tape line choice. Watching DH went from some suicidal lunatic throwing a bicycle down a mountain to being a serious sport. And its fun, remember when you lost your new drone into a lake in front of Sean Connary's castle and then borrowed a dingy and found the thing. Well maybe not to much fun for you but you hung in there.

    Vali bottomed out so hard that when her fork rebounded fully, the momentum of the rebound actually lifted her tire from contact with the ground by a couple inches - exactly when she went to tip the bike into the corner....she essentially had daylight under her front tire for the turn-in.....the dreaded floater wash out......

    I sense they're coming, but there's a lot required - on B Practice Gwin was talking about getting Windrock a DHI round and went through some of the big ticket items a venue needs in place to host, as it's been for years, but was interesting. Poland seemed to land really well and will hopefully help to recruit others.

    I havnt heard a single rider say "i really love Semis, theyre the best idea UCI has ever had, they should add more of em" lol lol.. Drop the Semis, & there would be scope for another 3 new races atleast.. Europe has 6 currently, they can afford to loose 2, considering how small Europe actually is in distance.. then they could add another 2 to North America, MSA + 2 more, alternating between US & CAN every year with who gets 2.. then the extra 3 races from sacrificing the Semis that nobody wants can alternate between Aus/NZ one year, South America the next.. Queenstown is absolutely Prime for a UCI Downhill round, with the scene, the terrain, the tracks, & the infrastructure all just there, with a semi-international airport (daily flights from Aus) within an hour of the tracks of both potential venues. Christchurch has the same, just 30 mins from the runway of a true international airport, has a high speed chairlift access bikepark with 500m descent. If it could manage to avoid fires dammit, it could hold a UCI too.. Maydena in Tassie proved its ability with Hardline, Threadbo in NSW puts it on for Cannonball.. South America has loads of places that could hold an event.. No semis, more races, more locations for the "World" Cup would turn it into a true WORLD Cup.. And then it would be a truely sustainably growing sport, vs the current UCI model which guarantees it being a bell-shaped curve that may be peaking as less people can watch it, & less places hosting it means an innevitable drop in interest even as the skill level rises in leaps and bounds..

    @PawnSacrifice

    @@danharvey3096 I don’t like semis and they will be going away, everyone has said they’re a transition play, but taking them away will do nothing to open up new venues, if you took them away today it would still be a three day weekend and there would be upwards of 350 riders. Maydena isn’t anywhere near close to being a World Cup venue - off the top of my head, Aaron said they need to accommodate around 125 event people, outside of the teams and fans, and there are specific shuttle requirements that would mean, in his case, adding a chairlift to Windrock (that may be the requirement). Maydena is the perfect argument for a far smaller field of riders, that opens up a whole load of host of alternative venues. But I know the team from Tasmania Hardline is looking at getting a World Cup proposal in - another venue, I believe (I listen to a lot of downhill podcasts!). Improved rider safety brings another overhead. Also, then venues need to be putting themselves forward, and often need funding / grants from the local government (which is the same in most niche sports), . There are few people privy to what’s happening behind the scenes and the rest of us are in the dark, a lot of the team managers and people close to the UCI team keep talking about a 5 year plan - personally I think there will be more UCI accredited regional series, like the new Monster US one, then semis as they are will go and the number of riders will reduce and the sport will go more and more global again. What we see as punters is the surface of it all and nothing is straightforward at the scale of the world cups, but while we differ on the way to get there I am 100% with you, I want to be seeing racing in Australia and New Zealand, Japan, and South America, and want 10+ rounds a year. I’m trying to keep the faith it’ll happen. Finally, if you've not listened to it already, I think you'd enjoy Simon French on D&Ms with Dean and Beyond the Tape where they talk about this sort of thing.

    So Loris may not have won based of the time he lost during his save, however! That is not factoring in the psychological impact that close call had during the rest of his run. He very well may have not pushed as hard as he would have had he not almost washed out. We can not know. It is however a fact that Dak would have won had he not crashed crossing lines again 😉. This was a cool track, reminded me of Leogang a little being short with a bike park style mixed with steep woods.

    Say that last part at the end again! If the consensus is no... then probably yes. Are we talking about DH or c¤vid conspiracies?

  • @danharvey3096

    @danharvey3096

    Ай бұрын

    It works for many things.. DH comment sections, mainstream narratives about events, people & "conspiracies" etc.. The answer to both though is context, & from where you find "the truth", if it comes from either end of a spectrum its ultimately a psyop of sorts.. The truth about litterally everything, from uninformed judgements of DH tracks in comment sections, to arguments between partners or countries, to "conspiracies", to "political tribalism" in a corporate owned political system, is generally always somewhere in the middle.. Context is everything, wether that be context amongst a broad range of factors on race day, or a broad range of benefiting interests from an event, policy or group.. Use your imagination for all the many things that could apply to..
