About once a year when we're all caught up on everything we'll make mystery hard candy all day. We don't add any coloring because there will be 7 different flavors in this bag, but they all look exactly the same! This time around we did lime, orange, peach, cotton candy, cheese cake and pineapple.

💑 About Hercules Candy
Hercules Candy has been on Steve’s side of the family since 1910(ish). When he took over in the 70’s, he anticipated after 10 years of hard work, he could move the business out of the basement and into a real storefront. Unfortunately, it took until 2018 for that to happen, but hey at least it happened! Steve and Terry own the shop, Craig (the social media manager) is their son, Cara (wrapper and shipper extraordinaire who is poised to take over the shop one day) is their daughter and Leah (who doesn’t love being on camera and is very elusive) is their oldest daughter. Karen has been working for Hercules Candy since the twins (Craig and Cara) were about 6 months old and everybody else is a new recruit. Don’t forget to subscribe and hit the 🔔 for more videos!

You guys have the best job. I mean not just making candy, but you guys seem so fun to be around. It wouldn't seem like a job, you know.

The work environment really is pretty sweet here, pun intended 😉
I'm so glad Greg has spoken about his favorite part. I love when other candy makers pick up the candy and let it drip and all that. I've always wondered why Steve doesn't do it, but I guess he's just a practical man haha.

So good to hear Craig. I hope you are well and the reno's are going ahead with out trouble. The guys are great fun. It was cool to see a cat apron and a dog apron. Thanks for a great video
You 2 work so well together!
Love the apron!!
Adding cream of tartar when you're making candy helps prevent the creation of sugar crystals. That's why lots of icing, syrup or candy recipes call for it: it makes it so the end product doesn't have large crunchy sugar capsules.Apr 1, 2022

In some candy recipies cream of tartar is used to keep the liquid sugar from crystalizing.

First, I love these videos and I can't even tell you why. It's hypnotizing to watch! I have one suggestion/question. Why do you use a tiny shot glass for the flavoring? It's awkward to hold with gloves - I'm waiting for someone to drop it in the molten candy... And the repetition, of 4 shots, 5 1/2 shots.... I recommend you use a nice graduated cylinder for measuring. You can get very accurate measures, it's easy to clean, etc. Sorry - the scientist in me and my OCD just cringe at the little shot glass. Keep up the great work!
The candies are so pretty when they're pulled. We've made hand -pulled taffey
Clear MYSTERY candy! Yum!
Cream of tartar prevents crystallization of the sugar. So it makes the candy not be possibly grainy.
Love the music!
I’ve got my mystery bag and blue raspberry ordered!
I love these guys
which inverts sucrose into fructose and glucose and thereby helps to prevent crystallization of the sugar syrup.
I was so happy to hear "plain pineapple" flavor ... I was craving that very flavor about 2 mins beforehand. I LOVE PINEAPPLE CANDY!!!
Yeah Rootbeer would be awesome an all sour batch too... the fruit and friendly was great didn't last long
You should use ear protection in that loud room. People will have hearing damage from it when heyre older.
You should make orange cream ribbons, And/Or something else like cherry limeade, or blue raspberry lemonade, or strawberry banana. I guess what I'm tryna say is two flavors mixed. Flavors you don't typically make.
Wellsa!, My A1C had went up and I hadn't had any candies for sometime now!??? I was like what's the deal!!!!? So I'm about to order something soon maybe!😜Just Love the interaction and the explaining of the process and it makes whatever anyone orders even a more personal touch!!!. Thanks for the videos!!! But until then I'll just lick my laptop screen!!!
I think a tropical mystery mix would be good we need coconut in there
The one ingredient here that may concern you is cream of tartar. This ingredient is used as a binding agent to help ensure that everything sticks together to become a solid sheet of hard candy without having to rely on the use of corn syrup to get the job done
Hi Craig... Miss seeing you.🍭🍫

From what I understand, they can’t keep up with demand! Taffy (as much as it’s my fav) would make the hard candies even more scarce!
I think it would be easier to mix them up if you had a sack or something like it and you could just put all of it in it and just tumble it a bunch
Got me again! Ordered! Haha.
The cornstarch keeps it from caking
I like candy as long as it is free from red dyes
Steve needs to Invest in a candy tumbler for all that hard candy 🍬!

I hope on Halloween you guys where braking bad making blue candy. The start of this made me think of that.
Can’t the bottom of the corn syrup tub be poured until it’s the right weight or you can’t pour it.
Hei HCandy Team, congrats for non colored candy 👏👍🍭💚

I make candy without corn syrup but vinegar instead. Am I doing it wrong? It tastes good…

Question: when the candy is stretched on the hook, what is the hammering for? Just vibration that the contact area of the candy and hook get separated or is there some other super scientific reason?

Greg's face is priceless when they tell him about his favorite part 😂 ❤️
Maybe it would be a good idea to not put the tartar in for science. Some sort of candy could possibly be better flaky. I mean, think croissant. Worth testing!
You always get it all over your hands 🙌 lol your hands are to hot so you need ice water to help it not stick on your hands.
