In my opinion, even though the music is off-beat with their singing, it's kinda perfect bc it adds to their awkward atmosphere

It’s a workshop, a class, in a big dance practice room, videoed on a phone. I’d say you are focusing on a minor thing, and missed that the performances were exceptional. 😊

This is probably the best version I have seen on KZread, besides the Netflix version. However, I think their performance could have been greatly enhanced by changing their blocking and choreography. There is a college readers theater class which performs this song, and although they aren’t the best vocalist, their blocking, timing and choreography is impeccable. With that said, these two could have employed some simple things like two stools, or do what the college kids did and use black theater blocks so that pway you can both sit and stand on them and move them through out the song. The reason I mention this is because I really mean it when I say this is by far the best vocal performance of this song being performed. I have watched hundreds of KZread videos of amateur theater geeks performing this song to varying degrees of success. Most of those videos, actually almost all of them are awful. Except for a few like that college class I mentioned. I even watched videos of the original cast perform this sequence and I still think these two blew them out of the water. But the one thing this performance didn’t have was cohesive or convincing blocking or choreography. The most glaring example is at 1:25 they are so far apart that she literally has to slightly jog across the stage just to get to him. But again, that is just a slight issue. These two are Broadway bound for sure. The male singer at 2:18 blew me away

Its a recording....... and there is not really a way of them telling when each beat is as they dont have a click track in their ears and also that they are ad libbing

Hi Dominik, that's exactly what I meant when I said I'm from Germany. My English just bad. (As with us many older Germans) That's why I brazenly didn't answer in English. Now I just push my answer through the Google translator. My opinion is to be understood as positive criticism and not as a scathing. It's great when the actors have a lot of fun doing it. But as a spectator, I also want to have fun and be picked up, and I don't think that's really conveyed. But it's just a lonely little opinion from Germany. :-) As I said before, the setup fits and is consistent.
