One of my favorite things about this show has to be the way it respectfully portrays Elliott's DID. Mr. Robot isn't treated like some imaginary friend that Elliott made up and roleplays as; they're essential parts of a whole being. They're different people, while still being the same person. They can't exist without each other, and that isn't treated like a good or bad thing. It just is what it is.

@@mqbq3651 You're putting words in my mouth. When did I suggest that people with DID are born with multiple personalities or that the creation of Elliott's alters weren't a result of trauma? All I said is that Elliot can't get rid of Mr. Robot, the Mastermind, etc because they are all essential parts of who he is, and the show portrays that idea in an interesting and nuanced way. Also this isn't my interpretation; there's literally two separate arcs in the show where both Krysta and Elliot explicitly say this.

4:05 is actually a really important line and christa's reaction is perfect. Through that line she understood that "Mr.Robot" is some kind of care taker character that helps "elliot" cope with difficult situations, which she then later confirms that she "figuired it out"
As much as I love this show and love it's use of Rami and Christian respectively playing as each personality, am I the only one who would've wanted to see a full scene play out with Rami acting out Elliot and Mr. Robot and we see how easily the characters see it's a different person they're speaking to?

It didn't even have to be a full scene just a transition from Slater to Rami, just to watch the intimadating side of Rami that the characters he interacts with are actually seeing. I am not sure Rami can look intimidating though, in the kind of macho way that Slater does. Maybe that's why they never went for it.

hey, so in dissociative disorders, generally the alters have their own name, identity, and whole personality, sometimes taken from reality or imagination. For example, if some child was abused and he thought of himself as strong, his identity splits into alters who are completely different people who are stronger than him. These people or alters all have their separate names, appearances, and aspirations. We just say "Mr. robot" or little Elliot or Elliot's mom because we don't know these people and their actual names. We just know their unique appearances, or how they know they look like!
