@@haendellmagalhaes6112 yes, I feel the same way plus she makes me think about things and brings up different things that I never would have thought about otherwise. It took me watching her reaction video to "a&w" to really sit down and take the time to listen to the lyrics and hear what Lana was actually saying about rape and I didn't understand the first couple of times I listened to it that she was basically saying that most women who are really pretty and have a voluptuous body, they're asking for that attention and it's even somehow their fault if they get rate. Like the whole thing went completely over my head because I didn't have the lyrics the first couple of times I heard it & just saying what I thought she was saying the next times I listened LOL😂 and I was so very shocked when I saw her video but it really really made me understand what Lana was saying. This song means everything for her career. It's about the darkness that comes with being famous, and how all these women legends of music died bc of drugs or thinking they should selfdestroy in sake of their art. So this is her taking a different path, and she's doing it for all who never got the chance. She's going to do what she wants, not what music industry wants from her. That song is the ending of Lust for Life. After that record, she started a new sound (Norman, chemstrails, blue banisters etc)

And the fact that it's the last song on the album. NFR came out after, where she really sings “you painting me blue, blue blue” in the very first song. And in this project, she takes on a more stable role in the relationship, she says “hold YOU like a baby” “Let ME command your boat ” She is no longer candle in the wind”

I have always thought/agreed that GF is the sequel to Ride. There’s obviously the lyrical parallels (war in my mind, themes, etc), but as a neurodivergent individual I have always interpreted Ride as meaning just going with the flow and being the passenger because you don’t have the confidence to be the pilot, having a passive/agreeable/mutable personality, putting up with everyone and their BS, whispering rather than speaking, etc. I always related to the war in the mind because I’m indecisive and can operate in extremes (and extreme nuance/detachedness), and the “I’m tired of feeling like I’m f-ing crazy” as that is the experience of ADHD/autism/mental health issues. But Get Free is just that- getting free. It’s less raw and rangey than Ride, it’s like how Taylor Swift went from describing love as burning red to golden. Just my thoughts :) (Random note- I feel like ride and Taylor Swift’s Mirrorball and This is Me Trying are in the same vibe family. Maybe that’s just me though)

Lovely reaction to my favorite song! As someone dealing with treatment resistant depression for years now the lyric “out of the black, into the blue” means so much to me. I’ve always personally interpreted it as meaning going from a really dark place to a place that’s still not super happy but it’s getting there. If I was ever willing to get a tattoo it’d absolutely be of those lyrics. 🖤💙

Hey Mere! I'm so early for this one. Get Free is in my top three favorites from Lana. It is so cleansing and transitional. The lyric is wrong though, about "the crowding way of being" it is actually "the Crowley way of being" which I believe is a reference to Aleister Crowley, who is of course well known for his work with the occult. So I think that she is shedding this really creepy darkness around her, which is beneficial in every way possible of course. A way of leaving her demons behind, perhaps? Combining energies also sounds a little like witch craft, so maybe she got involved in something that was too much for her, but I of course have no idea for sure. The rainbow lyrics are my favorite, it is just so true. You're exactly right, how many of us have tried to reach out to something that was an illusion? It just sums up disappointment so perfectly. I just love that you are watching her growth from this point of view. I have been with Lana on her journey from the beginning so I've grown with her too. And even though we're grown-ups, we never stop growing. Lots of love! 💜

From one internet stranger to another, as someone who has tattoos as reminders and who has taken a long time to heal things I never thought I could move on from, I just wanted to say that it's more than okay to get ink like that as something aspirational, something to reach for while you move through the world or tread water or self-soothe. We're never really done, so if having a beautiful lyric with you (it's one of my favourites, too) would help in anyway, do it. Don't let anyone -including yourself!- tell you tattoos can only be acquired after you've checked a certain box. Do it, do it, do it. 💜💜

I really loved your reaction and thoughts, as I watched I also thought that what she meant by "out of the black into the blue" was that she was moving on from something almost abstract/intangible(black) to something real and full of light (blue). I say this because black and white are not colors because they do not have specific wavelengths, black is the absence of visible light.

Because at times when u realise everything at once it gets scary, and most of the time the hope only lasts till the idea seems easy. Idk if I think so just cus when I was playing this song on repeat that's what was going on w me lol. Also when she says "I wanna get off but I keep riding the ride" it just reminds me of breaking a pattern because as aware as u are its trying to just jump.

Idk if someone commented this, but I was reading about how out of the black/into the blue is a play on words related to military terminology! Apparently it’s “out of the blue and into the black,” but she flipped it.

@mendwithmere I would also add that when she sang it live she added another part...she sang "who never got to fly at night cause they got caught up in the dance of cruel romance

Proud wearer of the Mend with Mere tee shirt today! Between the two Ride reactions, which is the only way I would have revisited the smutty video, having seen it once when it debuted, then never again, and this first listen for me, too, of the studio version of Get Free, it was a satisfying journey . . .

I think you should react to “Thunder” next. Thunder has some references to Get Free like how this had references to Ride. It’s a beautiful song, and has beautiful lyrics. I interpret it as her pleading with her significant other to come to the same realizations that’s Lana herself came to in Get Free. Also absolutely love your reactions ♥️♥️

First of all love this song Lana and your reactions .i am a singer songwriter therapist and huge lana fan so i never miss your reactions . The "crowded" way is " Crowley " way as in Alistair Crowley . She had gone on quite the spiritual journey in her life and the rest of the verse " that comes from energies combined makes so much sense if you know what she means by " gone is the Crowley way ". His teachings learned more towards the dark arts as she also mentions in this song. Keep up your wonderful videos ! Loved the Harry styles and tsylor swift as well.

Hello! I suggest you to do the reaction to the album "Chemtrails Over the Country Club" by Lana Del Rey, especially the songs "White Dress," "Dark But Just A Game," and "Tulsa Jesus Freak" because I believe these songs are particularly important to her. The songs discuss fame and her personal love life experiences. In the album, she opens up about her personal life. When the album was released in 2021, it generated controversy due to the music video for the title track. Although the album is my favorite in her discography and holds a special place in my heart, it is sadly underrated compared to her other albums. Thank you so much; I truly appreciate it.

I love your reactions because you just get it and you get it quick LOL. I always feel like you're spot-on and you think about things that just went over my head completely or I just didn't think about because I was just too busy listening and seeing along LOL. The funny thing about this song, you may have found this out when you were looking into it, Radiohead try to sue Lana because they said "get free" sounded way too much like "creep" but the funny thing is, "creep" sounds exactly like another song from the 60s if I'm not mistaken. I can't remember the name but I think they dropped it or settled. I can't remember but yeah, I just still think that's so crazy especially when that was her "modern manifesto". She did admit that she took inspiration from the song "creep" but it was different enough to where most people didn't even think about that song when they heard her song... XoXo ❤
