    Thank you. What's even more important is that this act is an act of love for others since the glory of a woman is her hair. When you wear a vail you tell me that you do it out of love of me to help me to focus on the Glory of God instead of your glory. And that's beautiful! On the private note, these vails are making the women so beautiful that I give thanks to God for that blessing of havjng women in the Church.

    I've always worn a scarf around my head, neck and shoulders whenever I'm in any church since a young teen. Way back if you went to Mass without a veil they would give you a tissue to wear on your head. They used to have candles to light for your prayers, and the clergy would face the altar for Mass. The good ol' days. 🙏🏼❤🕊

    During the Mass; many priests on Alter, the Santus was being sung . I noticed one of the priests looking up while singing..I asked the Lord, why is this priests looking up instead of at the alter? I was instantly lifted up above the Alter into the presence of the Lord & the heavenly host with Him.The Church was singing ' BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD. '...When the Santus ended, I returned into my body. Jesus REALLY comes down from heaven ..When the priest places his hands over the bread & wine, I know without a doubt ...He enters these species..They are TRULY THE BODY & BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST. on that alter.

    There is an excellent teaching on veils published by Sensus Fidelium: "Why veils? The symbolism of head covering." The traditional Catholic priest in that presentation, while clearly admiring the use of a veil liturgically, cautions against the attitude of "veil police." Also, as my own aside, in the Bible, females are almost always referred to as "women" not "ladies". There is a great dignity in being called "woman" just as there is in being called "man". We do not have to refer to you as "gentlemen" to indicate that you are special, exceptional, holy, or well-behaved. I think Our Lady/the Woman Clothed with the Sun/ or "Woman", as Jesus calls her from the Cross to indicate that She is the Mother of all men/people, has a unique status. The female Saints are traditionally not referred to as "ladies" but as "women," just as male Saints are not referred to as "gentlemen."

    You can wear a scarf- in fact in the US women wore hats for many years. One thing I've noticed, if you go for lace- besides that if you order a real lace one they are expensive - anyway many women wear a black veil during Lent and then white at and after Easter - I go back to the black veil after Pentecost. But there aren't lots of rules. Just cover your head.

    There was always something I didn't understand in 1Corinthians11:10, namely the part about the angels. I believe the priest is quite right that during the liturgy the women are living icons of the church, but I might add that it seems they are also veiled because they are representing the _unglorified_ church or the church militant during the liturgy. Paul also writes in 1Corinthians that man is the image and reflection of God, but that woman is the reflection of man. This is another reason I believe why only men can be ordained, because during the liturgy they represent the glorified saints in heaven or the church triumphant, because God created man to reflect his own image more. It seems then that Paul added the part about the angels because it is a sign of respect to the angels who participate in the heavenly liturgy, that the earthly liturgy is in preparation for the heavenly liturgy. The Church militant or unglorified church who the women represent at each mass are also veiled figuratively speaking to the mysteries of the heavenly liturgy until it's members attain the beatific vision.

    From 1st Corinthians 11 scripture: "3 ... I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. 4 Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head. 5 But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head-it is the same as having her head shaved." The loss of women wearing the veil is a victory of the Woman's Liberation Movement within the Liturgy of the Church.

    The Ark of the Covenant (the presence of the Lord) was covered with a veil; the holy or holies in the Temple was separated by a veil, and it tore into 2 at the crucifixion. And, Mary, the new Eve, the new Ark, also symbolizes the Church, is the Bride of Christ as are all of us who have been baptized and believe and belong to Christ in the Church if we obey God’s teachings - the veil symbolizes obedience to Christ and humility to the Lord. Pride, the opposite of humility, is the root of all sin.

    2 Corinthians 3:12 Since we have such a hope, we are very bold, 13 not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face so that the Israelites might not gaze at the outcome of what was being brought to an end. 14 But their minds were hardened. For to this day, when they read the old covenant, that same veil remains unlifted, because only through Christ is it taken away. 15 Yes, to this day whenever Moses is read a veil lies over their hearts. 16 But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed.17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.18 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

    You are not understanding what this sermon is about. Listen again. Women are told to cover their heads when they pray. 2 Corinthians talks about this. Read carefully. Listen carefully. Because Our Lord Jesus Christ is on the altar, in the tabernacle, and we, women are valued by God as we cooperate with him in the generation of the image of God, we should veil. Women are precious...very precious for that reason. The chalice is veiled and hidden. The tabernacle is veiled as the living God Jesus Christ is there! So it is good and holy for Catholic women veil to symbolize how valuable we are to him.

    tim spangler Your knowledge of the scriptures and church history is extremely deficient.The reason of tearing down of veil was this that behind the veil was the holy of the holies which can be only touched by high priest and only priest was allowed to go in there once a year but the veil was torn down it signifies that now there is now we can have direct relationship with God without the assistance Jews high priest. It has nothing to do with the Catholic women veiling their heads. It is also evident from the fact that 1 Cor 11 where Paul spoke about the veil was written after the Gospel and if tearing down of veil shows that women are not to veil themselves then paul would never command women to veil their head.

    Peace Fox Moulder! Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written. John 21:25 No mere human, of course, can fully know the mind of God. We can only pay close attention to what Jesus said and what he actually did. He didn't leave us a book. He didn't leave us tablets of stone. He didn't leave us a cultural history lesson. He left us 12 men (one of whom had to be replaced, Acts 1:20: ‘May another take his office.’) to be his apostles and to spread the Gospel. In Catholicism, Scripture and tradition are intrinsically interwoven. They have been described as 'twin fonts of the one divine well-spring' (revelation), and cannot be separated, any more than can two wings of a bird, two sides of a coin, or two blades of a pair of scissors. So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter. 2 Thessalonians 2:15 The Church also has strong authority, so that the Catholic rule of faith consists of Scripture, tradition and the Church. This may be conceived in a word-picture as a 'three-legged stool'. If you remove any one of the legs, the stool collapses, all three are equally necessary for it to stand up. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Matthew 16:18-19 if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household, which is the Church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth. 1 Timothy 3:15 This is Catholicism and (in case you're wondering) all the notions are firmly backed up by Scripture itself, without any contradiction as regards Catholic tradition or Church dogma and doctrine. Peace! God bless!

  • @guate4

    @guate4

    Peace to you too Prashaath Nair It is very unfortunate that you are basing the authority of the Catholic Church on assumptions. But I would not deal with that, but the facts. "in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men. "For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men... making the word of God of no effect through your tradition which you have handed down. And many such things you do." Mark 7:7-13 In Daniel 7:25 we find some of the characteristics of the antichrist, and it says: "He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, Shall persecute the saints of the Most High, And shall intend to change times and law." I am sure you are very aware what happened during the inquisition, right? You must also be aware your church did not want anybody to read the Bible, thus a 30-year war against the Protestants. God's laws are the 10 Commandments. The 2nd Commandment in particular, let alone the 4th, says: "You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them." Well, you can rationalize the way you worship anyway you want, but the Commandment is pretty clear, whether you like it or not. It is clear you are disobeying the laws of God. You have also changed God's Commandments to fit your "traditions of men." All your traditions come from Babylon. In essence, you are behaving exactly as it was prophesied: this church is the antichrist and the beast. It might be a good idea to be a little more critical of the Catholic church's doctrines. Take care.
