Not to be that guy but ITNW's chorus is sang by Jessica and Taeyeon only with their harmonies as well. Idk about Forever1 yet though. I recommend watching the vocal analysis videos ot "divadream", they get these correctly.

Thanks for that! I'm a new Sone, and that video was really fascinating. My impression is that the sound of the group singing the choruses all together is an SNSD signature, whether it was actually the whole group, just the vocal line, or just TaengSic. The production, even in ITNW, is intended to give the effect that it's the whole group singing together.

SNSD is like THE group. They literally ushered us in to a Girls' Generation in kpop who was then a boy group dominated industry. For reference, the next bigger girl group debuted only 2 years after them in 2009 which was 2ne1. Safe to say that without SNSD, most of the newer girl groups wouldn't exist if they hadn't started it all. You can see that TWICE has been inspired by the cute concepts that SNSD has done throughout the years. Regarding the unison singing in choruses, it's definitely an SNSD signature. Showcasing individual voices in the verses but ultimately coming as one in the choruses which in my opinion is the point of being in a group. Hahaha. Will definitely be down to see more SNSD and Taeyeon solo music reactions!

I love that! It's so cool finally seeing such an influential group and I love that 15 years later they have a comeback that's just amazing! I do like the unison chorus, cuz I usually don't see it too much in current kpop so it's refreshing! And yes! I'm definitely gonna be reacting to a lot of SNSD and some more Taeyeon solos!

You are KILLING me with your cluelessness!! 🤣 That's okay...let me try and help you. 1)There is a common expression: "If you don't know SNSD, you don't know K-Pop". 2) ITNW has become (since 2016) an international anthem for protesters against institutional corruption and demonstrators for social justce and human rights. (used in Korea, Thailand, and even in the US). In the 2019 Dream Concert ( which has a 20 year history), instead of playing "Arirang" as usual as the closing music when all the performers come out on stage for the finale, they played instead ITNW...an acknowledgement of SNSD's status and relevance to the industry. 3) Over the 10 years before SNSD, 21 girl groups debuted. Most were 3 or 4 members, a couple had 5 members. One third of those lasted 2 years ( or less!), 1/3rd made it to four or five years and then disbanded and 3 or 4 who remained were only a 2-3 years 'old' in 2006. In the industry and among K-Netizens, Girl Groups in general were an uncertain investment, and boy groups dominated the scene. Thus the idea of a 9-member girl group ( when even 4 or 5-member groups struggled to stay together) was met with skepticism and even downright dismissal in K-Pop forums at the time. BUT SNSD wasn't like other groups, and not just because they had 9 members. Taeyeon, as you are aware, is a naturally gifted singer (though you still have no idea how good she is...she's popularly called "KING Taeyeon" because of her vocal skills), but SNSD didn't have just one great vocalist, they had FOUR MORE ( Jessica, Tiffany, Seohyun and Sunny...though Sunny was underutilized), while the rest, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona and Hyoyoen ('Hyo" is also their main rapper) are all GOOD vocalists. There is literally no genre they can't handle well, and their total group harmonies are perhaps their signature sound, better than any other group ( I think only Mamamoo is their equal in that regard). So unlike other groups, they didn't just have a 'main singer' , they had a "Vocal Line". And they didn't just have a 'Main Dancer (Hyoyeon), they had a great 'Dance Line' ( Hyoeon , Yuri, Sooyoung and Yoona) ...and of course the Vocal Line had to become GOOD dancers as a result. ITNW was an unusual debut piece with the high energy and complex choreography making the vocals very challenging while the bright delivery contrasted with the lyrics that speak of sadness and hard times. It was only moderately successful at the time...it's eventual status would rise along with SNSD, over time. 11 months after their debut, In July 2008, SNSD, still 'rookies' of course, performed at the mult-group/multi-agency Dream Concert, where they experienced what became known as "The Black Ocean". It was an unprecedented 'boycott' of their performance by 50,000 K-pop fans who were jealous of the attention their favorite male groups gave to SNSD, and SNSD's casual friendliness with those groups. Outrageous accusations of assault and even rape (!) were made in public on social media by these anti-fans against SNSD's fans, but thorough investigations by news media found that such claims were complete bullshit. That event by rights should have destroyed the group, and SM's investment in them, .. even as SNSD had engendered such hostility from established fandoms, they meanwhile attracted a bigger and more important fan-base...average Koreans. Even while working on a new album , SNSD featured in a 'reality' series Factory Girl, where they 'interned' as editors for Korean Elle magazine. They also appeared on a ton of celebrity-variety shows such as Star Golden Bell, where they proved themselves to be not only charming, but genuinely funny, endearing them to the wider TV audiences and providing a measurable increase in viewer rating, which also attracted the attention of companies and advertisers who began using them for commercials which increased their exposure further ( and which also produced increased sales for those companies). So while they were for a while the most hated group in K-Pop, Korea's general public embraced them. The extent of that growing general popularity was made evident in spectacular fashion when the released "Gee' in 2009. The entire country went nuts over the song and MV. Gee set new records for ANY k-pop group in earning 9 consecutive #1 wins on Music Bank, 3 on Inkigayo and furthermore it scored #2 on the Japanese Oricon Chart, #1 on the RIAJ Digital Chart and ended up selling over 1 million copies in Japan. It was also a hit across Asia and made its way into many other foreign charts. From this point on SNSD began to dominate K-Pop ( and its foreign markets). Their 2010 comeback single "Oh!" hit number 1 on multiple digital charts just 10 MINUTES after its release while the album of the same name realized pre-release orders of 150,000. The single Run Devil Run ( from the same Oh! album) sold 2 million copies in Korea and 100,000 in Japan. ANYWHOO.... SNSD demolished the dominance of boy-groups in Korea and became the biggest foreign group in japan ( the world's 2nd biggest music market). They won the highest Korean and Asian Music Awards ( some of them multiple times) . They were the first girl group to have 5x 100 million You Tube MV views. Their 2011 live comeback with 'Genie' was, and still is, THE MOST WATCHED live event in Korean TV history. They sold out concert arenas in minutes and several times had to add extra concert days WHILE ON TOUR, due to demand. They are up there with Spice Girls and Destiny's Child with the most attended, most profitable tours for a girl group in the world. In 2013 their international fans helped them win KZread's MV of the Year Award, beating Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and other western stars. They were exclusively hosted by Korea's First lady at the Blue House (Korea's 'White House'). The were the first entertainers/artists to have their own postage stamps. they were made cultural ambassadors by the Korean government. Their discography became the training curriculum for all other girl groups, regardless of agency. Other agencies began adjusting their acts schedules to avoid competing with SNSD 'comebacks' Their sub-unit, TaeTi Seo ( Taeyeon, Tiffany, Seohyun) were and still are, the most commercially successful and most awarded sub-unit in K-Pop history. Even the highest rated entertainment shows would see an increase in viewership when SNSD appeared on them. Tiffany, Seohyun Jessica and Sunny have all had lead roles in stage musicals, to critical acclaim and box-office success. Yuri, Yoona, Sooyoung and Seohyun have also had great commercial and critical success as actors in TV series dramas and movies, and have won major acting awards...some of these while still performing as SNSD. ITNW has been called "Korea's 2nd National Anthem". They've been called "The President of the Army"...by the Korean Army! They are "The Nation's Girl Group" , "The Queen's of K-Pop" , "The Mother of Girl Groups" and more recently, and quite correctly, "The Legendary SNSD" and "The Idols' Idols". Oh and as good as they are in their MVS...they are on a whole other level when performing live in concert. There's more, actually, but I think that's enough for now. Again, like they say, if you don't know SNSD, you don't know K-Pop" I hope this helps. Seriously check them out. Take the journey, You won't be disappointed, Good luck

Just know that all the current and young groups that we are currently getting and seeing, SNSD/Girls Generation are the reason they even had that dream to begin with. For the most part at least. Early kpop was being dominated by boy groups during the era of their debut, but they were the first girl group to achieve big success and stand on their own against the boy groups. The reason fancams exist is because it started with them, photocards in albums didn't become a frequent thing until after they released their "oh!" album including the photocards. They not only paved the way for girl groups but they also paved the way for kpop as a whole. I love them so much and this comeback was everything. Not to mention that Into the New World became an anthem for the lgbtq+ community in South Korea, they just are so important

Their group name shows their legacy. Before them, girl groups weren't taken seriously by public and fans. There were only a few of them as well. It was all boygroups dominations back then. Then Girls Generation debuted, exploded and now countless girl groups are in the industry and thriving. Their success was not define by how high they charted, how many albums they sold, how big the fandom or records they broke, but how they set the standard as role models and inspired people. They are KPOP idols' idols. Individually or together, they are household names in South Korea. They're labeled honourably as the Nation's girl group and the Nation's Singers. I can go on and on but then it'll be a book. I've been a SONE (their fan) since 2011 and no girl group today ever sway me from them. They are that amazing. Love them forever !

SONE (Sowon) is their fandom. ITNW is an anthem for a SOO many things: queer anthem, used in political protests and parades. Many music companies and girl group survival shows use this song as a standard for evaluation. I've been a fan of theirs since 2009 and what initially set them apart from the rest of the girl groups for me was Taeyeon's vocals. Then I realized all of them could sing, not just 1 or 2 like many kpop groups back then. If a gun was at my head, I'd still say Taeyeon is my fave, but each member really has their own unique charms and talents. Like some have commented, in Forever 1 the concept shows the girls on each of their journeys during the last 5 years, but they are still 1. SNSD/Girls Generation may not have the high views/record breaking global popularity of a few kpop groups today, but they have helped paved the road those artists now walk on. Would love to see you react to more video's of them. Enough of my rant, just found your channel today, great content and DAMN you're gorgeous. 😉

You said that the music itself for Into the New World is still very SM- the song was composed by Kenzie, who is still there at SM, still writing for groups like EXO, NCT, Red Velvet, aespa, and even non SM acts like Nayeon’s Pop. Hell, she was the composer behind Forever 1! And you said the song felt like it was from the 90s- it premiered in 2007, but the song was actually written around the year 2000-2002 or so, so even at the time it wasn’t really super modern sounding, which adds to its timelessness. Also another member you’ve seen before, if you checked out Got the Beat, is the main dancer/rapper Hyoyeon, or Hyo for short. She was the pink haired rapper who did the dance break with boa and Seulgi in Step Back, the pop and lock dancer in the dance break in Into the New World, and the one with the DJ set who did the little rap part in Forever 1.

My bias singing, Taeyeon, of course, she is simply great. Dancing: Yuri, Hyoyeon, Yoona, Sooyoung. Variety: Sooyoung, Yoona, Sunny, Hyoyeon, Yuri. I love this part sung by Taeyeon: kzread.info/dash/bejne/rJ2lp9NxpMfMZsY.html impressive Now in variety still entertaining, they didn't care about their image at all when doing these shows: kzread.info/dash/bejne/gY6cqaOSiZCplLA.html

Tiffany is a good singer, along with Sunny, Seohyun and, back in the day Jessica, but in that field I consider Taeyeon the best. In the forever 1 video all the little separate parts they have represent their careers and what they've achieved on their own, like taeyeon is a famous soloist, yoona is on a film set, seohyun is on a musical stage, Tiffany is on a plane back and forth from America to Korea etc. It's really beautiful. The shot with the award probably represents their many many awards and achievements as a group - they have been dubbed countless times as the nation's girl group.

@@TysonPellegrini closest song that we can compare it to maybe is "We Are The World" by western standards. Into The New World is literally THAT song that most girl group trainees had to learn in order to debut. Evidently on audition programs/survival shows in Korea they have that song as a challenge to gauge the vocal and dancing abilities of the trainees. Pretty f'in iconic, that's Girls' Generation. Hyoyeon is also in GOT The Beat, not just Taeyeon. She had bright pink hair then. I personally loved Forever 1 since first listen. I cried a lot during the 1st day of listening. I have been a Sone for four and a half years so this was my 1st cb with them (Holiday and All Night were in 2017 so I didn't quite make it to that). Just like its predecessor, Forever 1 album is full of amazing songs, a wide variety of genres. It's an album of the year material definitely. I recommend checking it out even on your own if you prefer not to do a reaction. My bias line is Yuri, Sunny and Sooyoung. Sunny was my 1st bias. • @teadora99
    @teadora99 Жыл бұрын

Thats one of the reasons why I've generally appreciated SM's groups more so than other companies. They make it commonplace for most if not all of their groups sing the chorus (at least of their title track) in unison. It just makes the group feel more together plus its pretty common place for line distributions to be quite bad in kpop with some idols getting near nothing while the main vocal will get half the song, so singing the chorus together actually gives these idols with weaker vocals time to sing, they're not just dancers. Plus there's something so special about hearing 8 voices sing together. Yoona, one of the members of GG, spoke about how she was one of the last to record one of the songs on the new album and hearing everyone's voices together made her emotional as it had been so long.

I really dont comment on youtube but i feel like this time i have to! Girls Generation is known as SNSD. They are the best 2nd generation girl group who debuted on August 5, 2007. They released nearly 49 singles and albums in and out of country ' Into The New World"', 'Gee', 'Genie' and so on. Every song and choreography they released was a MEGA-HIT! The first first female girl group to receive the Golden Disc Award for 3 years in a row. Grand Award in Seoul Music Awards for 2 years in a row. They received over 100 awards in and out of the country and also the first K-Pop idol to win 100 awards in music shows. They're living legend with unprecedented records. They made group choreography, uncle fans and color skinny jeans trendy back in the time. Going beyond singing to acting and even musicals. This is their 15th anniversary! I definitely recommend watching their early live stages of Into the New World because back then, most everyone sang live on music shows with minimal backtracking. You can really hear how stable their vocals and harmonization are while executing and synchronizing this dance. So impressive! They are just babies full of hopes and dreams with no idea how iconic they'd become. Edit to add: You also get to see one of the best parts of the choreo when Taeyeon hits a high note and then skips backwards to get into position while everyone else is transitioning behind her. And then, you should watch the ballad version (Tokyo Dome and/or Phantasia) because it marks a significant shift in the group. These performances were during a difficult time and a couple years before their 10th anniversary, so the future of the group was up in the air. Lastly, you should watch their most recent performance at their 15th anniversary fan meeting (Long Lasting Love). They hadn't performed the original version with the dance in a long time because they did the ballad version in the later years. Maybe like 8 years since the last time. It's a come full circle moment. The vibe of each one is very different and the meaning of it to the girls and the fans will become very clear with this bigger picture. If you do decide to look it up, there are only far away fancams on KZread so far, but Twitter has the version that was on livestream so you can see their faces. You can just search snsd into the new world on Twitter and it should show up! And the fandom name is SONE (pronounced so'won -like in wonton, not like 'i won the game') It means wish and it's derived from their song Genie (Tell Me Your Wish), another legendary song. Thanks for watching the girls. It's so great to see new people discovering them!

Oh! Another fun time capsule video like this would be BoA, aka "The Queen of K-Pop." She also took part in SM's super girl group GOT the Beat earlier this year along with Taeyeon and had her 22nd (!!) debut anniversary this month after debuting all the way back in 2000 with ID; Peace B. She was SM's first female soloist and genuinely huge act. She debuted at 13! Her success really shaped what SM would become and K-Pop's expansion into other countries. And a fun fact... one of the SNSD members (Hyoyeon, the main dancer), actually did shadow dancing for her MAMA 2005 performance (Over the Top). SM did a whole special rollout for her with Better for her 20th anniversary. It's definitely worth checking out! If you like doing these time capsule ones... another huge 2nd Gen group called T-ara also made a comeback this year for a 13th year anniversary. Their debut song was the number one song in Korea in 2010 (Bo Peep Bo Peep) and their comeback this year was All Kill and Tiki Taka.

I really do like this idea, especially coming from a newbie, I love learning about iconic groups and just diving into their discography, so I'm 100% writing this down and will try to react soon! I think the next one of a group that I haven't listened to at all is BlackPink, I only know 1 song, so I'm gonna do their debut and their new comeback!

SNSD/Girls’ Generation is the platinum standard of success in Kpop. The newest breakthrough they have achieved as Kpop legends is the fact that they are celebrating 15 years together as SNSD despite being signed by 4 separate entertainment companies after 2017. Tiffany is managed by the American company Paradigm Agency and signed with Transparent Arts record label. Sooyoung is currently managed by Saram Entertainment. Seohyun signed with Namoo Actors. Taeyeon, Sunny, Hyoyeon, Yuri and Yoona remain with SM Entertainment; created the SNSD subunit Oh!GG and produce solo releases. Many doubters thought these women would not succeed in keeping SNSD viable after the 3 members left SM. Significantly this 15 year anniversary comeback has proven all naysayers wrong. As they always have been, SNSD continues to be trailblazers in the Korean entertainment industry.

Girls Generation introduced me to KPop World , i was so shocked that why they can dance so synchronized , why they all hv pretty 🦵🏻🤣, they have a wide range of diversity in their songs. nowadays you can barely see all members can sing the chorus

The award may mean something else, but the fact that they're still the only girl group in this male dominated industry (kpop) that won a daesang (grand award) in 2010 at a time when boy groups were even more dominant than now, truly legendary!

By the way, they use the intro of ITNW in the bridge of Forever 1. And also the MV has some Easter eggs of some their previous work like Gee, The Boys, Lion Heart, I Got A Boy, and Holiday.

Small fact for Into the New World, it was actually made in 2002 for Girls' Generation's senior group MiLK. So it would be very natural for it to have 90's vibe. Girls' Generation practice particuraly for the song for ONE YEAR prior to their debut to the point they able to dance it right until now even it's been years since the last time for them did it. Fun fact, the writter of both songs (Into the New World and Forever 1) is the same person, Kenzie.

a lot of groups from sm usually have their members singing the chorus all together... that's what i love from sm there are never really have the official position for a rapper in snsd, as long as you can rap and stays on beat you could be a rapper. take tiffany for example, she's the lead vocalist but we often see her rapping

I like the concept you went with for this reaction. Nice idea, and nicely done. As for exploring their evolution over the years: their debut song ITNW, as iconic as it ended up being years later, was not typical of their early hits. Their early hits tended to be bubble-gum and/or cute. As they matured, they started taking left turns and surprising everyone with more mature stuff--but still occasionally returning to bubblegum/cute--and all the while showing that they had the talent and versatility to nail whatever style/concept they were asked to do. That's a possible argument for reacting to their hits in chronological order. But if that's not your thing, then I suggest you check out the ones that have a hundred zillion likes--the list is too long to type here, lol--with special attention to "Run Devil Run," "The Boys" live on the David Letterman show,, "Catch Me If You Can," and "I Got a Boy."

Thanks! I might do something similar with BlackPink's comeback as I haven't really listened to any BP lol I'll write those songs down to watch out for, I do like the idea of watching in chronological order, I did the same thing with Dreamcatcher and saw them evolve. But they've easily got another fan in me!
