    Nice!!! So this was the announcement Jon was referring to in the How to Be Unpopular episode. Really excited to see the inclusion of other disciplines. I wish we as skaters had more options to get custom fit boots in the aggressive field. You're essentially stuck getting Adapt skates or Seba CJ if you want a built-in liner type of style. Even then, there are downsides like the CJ soul plate only being mounted through the frame bolts and just how expensive Adapts can be. Maybe I'm just being petty, but there's been zero innovation in sizing and fitment since the early 90's from which the ski boot/liner design was adopted to inline skating. With the close ties to fashion like Hype Beast and other avenues, this seems like such a good opportunity to start. Hopefully some day we will see a boot like this. Imagine being able to take your awesome custom boot and screw on or adapt someone else's soul plate/frames to test just like this video. Rollerblading is such a personal thing that it seems almost archaic to not have the ability to get a fully custom skate. Can't wait to see what you guys have in store for 2022 and beyond!

    I feel like most people who want to get into skating these days don’t even know what aggressive is. It’s like them’s answer to impala. Being able to have a beginner friendly setup like this is dope. Plus you can switch to aggressive by simply adding soul plates and frames.

    80mm wheels feel so great for cruising. Bladers now are older and have disposable cash. Most already own multiple pair of blades so I can see a fair amount buying these for cruising. And, if Them is able to make bank with new recreational skaters buying these, all the better. More people on blades and more money in the industry is a great thing.

  • @aldolega

    @aldolega

    From what I remember, small Creates are about 245mm, and the smaller Them frames are 250mm. Not that big of a difference. There are a lot of frames available in similar wheelbases, I think what most people would consider an "XS" frame would be more like 230-235mm. Like the smaller Mooks, or Salomon stock frames, or the smaller V1 Kaltiks.

  • @karmiccredit5875

    @@aldolega i have one set of small Create original og frames, a dozen Size small gc FLT 3, And five Size small Them Street frames. Out of all three frames the Creates in size small are the shortest wheel base. Huge difference. The GC flt 3 compared to the small Them Street frames are about a axel smaller when lined up axel to axel with the small them street frames. Even that makes a huge difference. 250 mm is way too big for my feet. I feel like im on skis. But that is a personal opinion. The gc flt 3 were my go to after leaving kizers fluid 5 and fluid 4 because they made me more agile with the shorter wheel base. Plus, im on the smaller size of the small then 909 boots and got heel lift while riding and cranking the laces every half hour skating. 250 mm wheel base made the skates feel sloppy and unresponsive. What i had to do was add a huge moldable footprint insole in a size small them 909 intuition liner and get create original frames to make them 909/908 boots work for me... I also tried the size small kizer x type freestyle frame which has an even small wheel base than the create frames in size small but the ufs didn't line up on the size small them soul plates and could not be mounted, although they fit size 7.5 franky morales gawds skates soul plate which is a usd seven soulplate. It was crazy how i could carve around like i was riding flat... But probably wore my wheels down a bit in the front.

  • @aldolega

    @aldolega

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@karmiccredit5875 Makes sense, the Kizer Type X is the Mook frame I mentioned, Powerslide just removed the molded-in animal graphic after they got the mold from Salomon. That's a 235mm wheelbase. Maybe check out the small Kaltik V1 if you ever want to try a flat-style frame. A full axle-width of difference would be 8mm. Definitely noticeable but not what I would call a huge difference, in the context of all frame sizes. I would call a 10 or 15mm difference huge. 8mm is certainly enough to notice though.

    Thanks for the suggestion and history 101. I have Salomon st 90 but they are too narrow for my foot. I think i got a size 25.0 shell but the liner is 25.5 thinking i would fit because the heel pad. They came with adjustable frames, not a rockerable frame but adjustable wheel base. Not sure what the measurements are. I was in the market for Kaltik frames but seen the x type had a shorter wheel base and the kaltik frames were a bit taller which can be countered by riding smaller wheels but i will try next time. I hear good things about the frame.

    I think it's refreshing to see an OG be open to change and stay current to what's going on in blading. It'd be easy for someone of Jon's vintage to retreat into a grumpy, traditionalist mindset, and insist that all the bladers nowadays who also enjoy cruising on some big wheels get off his lawn.
