Exploring Raleigh with Them 909 and Compass 80mm // Inline Skating

Спорт

I love skating. There's nothing better than just putting wheels on your feet and exploring your city. So today I went to Raleigh looking for fun stuff to skate and brought my aggressive frames to swap out for grinding.

Ahhh I love it! I was really hoping to see a video where you cruise and then swap frames for a grinder session. Really shows how well designed the Compass frames are and how some companies really over engineered some of their products.

That UFS bolt accessibility is awesome! Wish more frames had access to the without taking out wheels first.

Yesterday I ordered a second pair of cheap skates for big wheels. Decided Id rather have two pairs than swap frames. Then I see this video... I only skate street, now that im going to be cruising fast in the city I need that helmet! ;) ;)

This is actually a really smart idea being able to change out the frames so easily. 80mm is kind of small for me nowadays with big wheels, but that quick change option for an aggressive set up is just too good. Think I may have to cop some.

Awesome! And even with some of the frames where the bolts are covered it only takes 5 mins at most to swap. I regularly swap between frames where the middle wheels need to be taken out and the only thing that gets me is some bolts are so soft that I end up rounding them off. 🙄 Good video to reiterate just how great UFS is! I love the fact I've got 8 frames I can put on any of my 4 boots. 😍

Always a pleasure to watch. A quick mounting system like on skis would be great, once you found a perfectly fitting and versatile boot, but it would probably also add a lot of extra length and weight. Gotta keep screwing :D

Hi. I have a pair of Them 909s and after watching your videos decided the Compass 80mm frames would be perfect to allow me to switch-out for some larger wheels for skating around my city... but I can't find them anywhere for sale! The 80mm appear to be sold out everywhere. Is there an issue here I don't know about? If so, could you recommend something else at a similar price-point? Thank you!

Thanks for the review, 80mm frame is gonna be my next blading purchase. I thought 60mm might be sufficient for cruising but it's not, gotta go bigger.

What I love about the IFC system is not only can you change the frames but the souls too, so I can go from my aggressive setup (shift soul plates and anti rocker frames) to my freestyle setup (Cosmo soul plate and big wheel frames). Also the shift 2s have extra optional soul screws which may add extra stiffness for big wheels. I’ve been using GC 3x110 but I’m defiantly gonna try and get some compass 4x80s as I think I’ll have more control in urban environments. Great vid!

Hey guys, I’m kind of new to skating and have been doing some research. I plan on getting a pair of them skates 909s, and I want to buy some ground control 80mm frames to swap onto them. I did see a post that said ground control frames are off but about a mm or so and don’t hook up. Can anyone confirm this? Does 909 have their own specs to the soul plate? Also, there’s Kizer frames, I’m really trying to get aluminum frames or some sort of metal, I’m mainly going to just be cruising at first, than maybe start getting into tricks. Some help would appreciated thanks in advance 👍

A few questions for you if you don't mind. I'm getting back into blading after a 25 year gap, and I was initially considering getting the Aeon 60s, but if I'm completely honest with myself I don't see myself hitting the skate park much, and will probably spend a lot more time skating around town and tackling some obstacles along the way. Do you think the Aeon 60s would work for skating around town while attempting the odd trick here and there, or do you think something like a Roces M12 with 72mm or 80mm fames would be more suited? Also, would a M12 boot in size 6 work with the Compass 72 or 80 frames? Also, do you think the M12 boot/cuff provides enough support for a big wheel setup? Thanks in advance!

Welcome back! I just ordered some Aeon 80, that might be perfect for you. Lots of speed and comfort for cruising but a big soul for grinds if you like. Aeon 72 might be a good options as well, they’ll be lower and more stable.

@@BacktoBlading Thanks for the response and warm welcome! Unfortunately I have really small feet, 24cm, and can't find the Aeon 80s in my size... I think the Aeon 80 only starts at size 6/7, which is one size too large for me. The M12s with 72 sound great, just the info I was looking for. Thanks!

Can anyone bring me up to speed on modern skate design? I was skating Tramac CE’s and Roces back in the 90’s. I know they have soul plates and various grind set ups. How much better to skate are the new generation of skates? No local shops around here carry anything inline related.
