It surprised me how people reacted to the second game. In my eyes it's perfect. Ellie lost control over her life when she didn't turn. She chose not to kill herself right on the spot and from that moment everything spireled. She was given hope by Fireflies to regain that control. But Fireflies nor Joel gave her a choice. Both sides decided for her. Joel making the ultimate choice. Then she finds out and it is on her, how she Is going to handle it. She briefly regains control and tells Joel that she might choose in the future to forgive him. But before she can, Joel is killed. He hurt a lot of people and someone was bound to bring him some of his own medicine. So she loses control again and she goes out to take it back. She finds Abby but gets her ass kicked. So she has to go and find her again. And then she overpowers Abby. She could kill her. But it's her choice to let her go. Nobody makes it for her - not her immunity, Fireflies, Joel or Anny. She regains control over her life. Not just that tho. She also finally understands, what Joel did and forgives him. By lumping scars & rattlers & Fireflies into one group of bad guys, we can finally see she understands how empty the promise of a vaccine was. Even if they made a cure. And that's a big if. Nothing would change. It would just be another nice thing to kill each other over. One day probably losing the cure in a raid. Choice is a big theme of the game. People still arguing whether Joel was justified in killing the Fireflies & being upset over letting Abby go...

Joel was there for Ellie, even if she didn’t want him. He grew a bond when she didn’t. The tears in her eyes when he died, it was all a upsetting thing, me and my father hated abby for that. We loved Joel just as much as Ellie did, the pain in her eyes at his house showed she cared. It was like their bond was better in the remake…He deserved it but, For better and the worse.. We all know that the vaccine wouldn’t get far.. And he knew it. All that time.. It was a lose lose.. im sorry Joel R.i.p Joel Miller. Lost, never forgotten. A brother. A soul. A father. This game was about making the concept of Revenge bad and It had to be broken. If Ellie killed Abby then if She didnt kill Lev too Lev would kill her, and then another Person wouldve Avenged Ellie, and It continues. Sure, they shouldnt have made us play abby nor kill Joel at the start or kill him. Im not Happy that Abby gets away with It, but you can see It was Better left like that, Joel wouldnt been brought back either way.

The fact Joel opened up his eyes when he heard Ellie telling him to get up and he tried to reach his hand out to her. Fucking heart broken. Regardless if the Fireflies would have found a cure it doesn’t mean it would have changed anything. Ellie filled a void for Joel and he loved her just like she loved him. Abby didn’t see her dad die like Ellie watched Joel die. Abby is a bitch for what she did.

It's going to be hard and emotional seeing Joel's death scene in the show.

Not only did they not give you the satisfaction of killing Abby, they forced you to play as Abby for like a third of the game even after she killed Joel. Even if I overlook Joel’s death, tlou 2 just felt like a soulless game. I never felt a fraction of the joy I had playing the first game. They should’ve just left it at the first game

Really dropped us into Abby's shoes not only after she killed Joel, but after she also killed that other guy and supposedly killed Tommy. Where's the conflict in that? When part two came out, I was furious but the second time of playing it, I understood the story and what they were going for and if we want a last of us part three there has to be a part two.

I’m sorry but that would be a lot worse than what we got. All that Abby dying off screen would do is weaken Ellie’s arc by removing from her the power of choice. Choosing whether or not to save Lev is a much worse way to have it end since Ellie does not have any grudge or past with them, we already know Ellie would probably save them. She’d be basically losing her agency in the story Instead by letting her come to the realization that killing Abby would not be the right thing to do she’s able to choose for herself to evolve as person by being able to look past her blinding hatred and deal with what her true emotions had really been this entire time, which is the feeling of guilt and sadness over having a falling out with joel and losing her chance of reconnecting with him.

@@M-Rayan Abby didn't care why Joel killed her dad. Ellie was just a kid then. Joel also didn't hold Abby down with some goons and make her watch as Joel caved in the skull of her father. This is exactly why it should have been left up to the player. Not everyone has the capacity or the care to be "the bigger person" so to speak and the big picture is arguably open for interpretation. With two endings, the players who wanted to show mercy could've and players that wanted to avenge Joel also could have done so without feeling like they're being force fed into empathizing with Abby and being admonished for not doing so.

@@knull278 the game literally rushed and made the most dumb scenario to kill joel they literally rushed joel to die in the first 20 minutes of the game in literally the worst way possible this guy survived for 20 years survived many ambushes killed hordes of infected killed lots of men wiped out hospital full of soldiers and then we see him rescue someone and he doesn’t ask what the hell are you doing in this blizzard or who are you or even what is your name in the intro he told tommy what he has done in firefly hospital to save his step daughter ellie and when he sees abby i think he has dementia because he forgor someone might come after him after that hospital massacre and then he literally accepts the invitation to go to that stranger’s house knowing it’s full of other strangers he don’t know about and don’t try to say “he had no choice 🤓” “they were surrounded”🤓 it seems like ever since he moved here he was still on patrol because he is paranoid and hes been doing this for years and people thinking that this is the first time they were surrounded by a horde in a blizzard which is likely happens in jackson but in game they want us to believe they had no choice but to go to some house in somewhere which for some reason the house is well tidy but not captured by jackson people they could go back to jackson horses are faster than infected and it’s a blizzard infected will lost them anyway and they have walls a fucking base they can take down the horde but anyway they go there and looks like there was only 10 infected caught up to the horses which are from the forest not from that place they were surrounded looks like they have evaded them and then they go in not a single paranoia and holstering their backpack on their horse like “we won’t need it anyway???????” And not grabbing their pistol they are all relaxed with 10 strangers in the room surrounding them tommy is so relaxed he asks for towels while bending over to a counted joel goes middle of the room and tells them his name like i said i think he has dementia or garbage writing and then he be surprised “y’all seem like you’ve heard of us or something.” Bro are you fucking serious like no shit and then abby has dementia too because “people” call “her” a “good person” or “best character ever” because she would never kill anyone without mercy right? But joel saves abby and abby doesn’t even show mercy because “he killed my father oh no” joel had to kill his father they were going to kill his daughter and he pulled a knife on him and then we see ellie having sex while joel is being murdered and she goes there and we see abby changed clothes your “good person” has beat that old man to death so much she even had time to changed clothes she enjoyed every second and she still do it while ellie who is her daughter begging, literally begging to “her” to stop and then tell pull like how john wick’s dog’s murderers did, put his corpse there and she wakes up and sees his brains in the floor. What was she the first one to find and know how to use gym gears before anyone at least in wlf base? Yeah stfu or you trolling or are you serious? Joel, this man survived dozens of ambushes by being paranoid, strong and smart remember when ellie and joel first met the hunters he said oh he ain’t rven hurt? Or remember how paranoid and smart he was saying that youd just come after her and he killed marlene to set up loose ends? He took zero risks but now in this woke piece of shit they tell their name to some stranger out in the blizzard completely trusting that transgender yet thinking it is a VERY good idea to go to someones house knowing there are much more people there yet when they go there they actually thought they were just a gonna get out of there no problem because they wouldn’t try to do something to them in this 25 year old apocalypse where people kill each other for food yet being too relaxed that they even put their backpacks on their horse and tommy saying yall got towels or anything and joel just wanders in the middle of the room and says his name and then gets surprised saying yall seem like youve heard of us or something like no shit not even having his pistol on his hand and literally died the most stupid way possible tlou2 is truly the worst game of all time in fiction history yet you sheep praise this piece of shit game because they added prone and dodge button after 7 years of waiting so you are saying this man who survived by 25 years in this hell apocalypse by being paranoid and smart who evaded multiple ambushes, armies and zombie hordes all by himself, and AFTER killing every fucking armed soldiers in a hospital all by himself after he just woke up killed literally everyone and their leader all though he told that to his brother what he has done, thinking oh well they are probably not after me and wouldn’t know who i am because they heard my name so much they put nicknames on me like the smuggler joel miller? Oh yeah in probably fine telling my name to some transgender bodybuilder all by himself in some middle of the blizzard and middle of zombie hordes who has said that he has friends hiding in some mansion near to our home? Hmmm yeah must be our neighbors who we knew what house were they even holes up even confirmed by tommy? Oh yeah they are probably just feeling generous to offer us some tea and be on our way where people kill each pther for starvation, rape defenseless people to at least have a bit fun in this hopeless survival of the world? Oh yeah we are probably gonna be fine although at least in my journey with ellie everyone who saw us tried to shoot to kill us when hunters tried to trick is or followed us to the university or the mall where i was wounded or even some resort? Just to kill us? Yeah we are fine Are you tlou2 fans this braindead? Are there any tlou2 fan he is at least smarter than a 12 yo?

Joel has gotten used to saving people, especially seeing Abby's usefulness in that life-and-death situation, which actually helped them. Abby's friends' house, on the other hand, was known to Jackson, with exchanges taking place without any disturbance, Joel saw this and didn't think his turn would give anything away. This name argument doesn't make the slightest sense, the initial name of both wouldn't change anything, it was quite the contrary, a standard procedure of knowledge between survivors who exchange resources, what condemned Joel was Abby already being aware of Tommy being a "Miller " and having a brother, which made this revelation much more impactful, so she makes a point of calling him by his full name. Joel's death early on is necessary to create the core of the story anyway. About Abby's dough, the WLF had gym, food, resources stored by FEDRA back in the day, and more, but it still doesn't make that much sense, I'll agree. In the end, they are flawed arguments to say that it is the worst game ever made.

Im so glad that The Last of Us was the first game series I played completely blind. Every second was worth it

Dude I can’t I’ve seen this death over 30 times now and it still brings tears to my eyes every time. Its just… Its heart Breaking Joel was the Father figure that we all need. Its just… there are no words to describe this seen. People say , “Its just a game get over it.” But its not just a game its real that kind of stuff actually happens to people. Over all both games are the greatest games known to man nothing and I mean nothing will beat them. Sorry for the long msg but I’m super passionate and emotional with this stuff.

Joel's death was just.. so different man. It was unlike any other death in gaming.. it wasn't even like as sad as Arthur's death or as dramatic as john's or whatever. It was different from any character. With joel it was just straight up disrespectful and just unbelievable. With Joel's death you just go through all stages of grief, anger, depression, denial, disappointed and revenge all. It was so frustrating, it was unexpected. Like the whole time it's like.. nah no way he's gonna die like this and then just bam. I can never forgive that death man. Not a heroes sacrifice or any heroes redeemable hero's death like arthur or.. any like end game badass death speech like big smoke or john or nothing. He just went out.. his brain smashed with a golf club the first two hours of the game spitted on his corpse with no great funeral or ceremony or even proper revenge, like nah man.. you don't just kill off a character like that.. not any character, JOEL! one of the best there ever was. Sure he was not a good person but what do you expect in a universe like that when you have already lost one of your daughters to humans not even letting you say goodbye to her or asking her anything.. it was all out on force. AND HE SAVED ABBY TOO. I don't even blame abby for killing joel. The blame is all on naughty dog for freaking writing it like that. His death was unlike any other and hit me so hard. You connect to joel so much in many ways. He was the most human and relatable character, kinda like arthur. Sad we got to see him like that man. No matter what I don't believe that. A legend. Literally a legend

Joel's death left a hole in my heart and it took a solid month to stop feeling sad about it. I played the rest of the game feeling empty. The only thing that pisses me off is that I stopped hating Abby. Now almost 3 years later I am playing thlou2 again and it's still hard.

@@RealQuietOne- They are making the second game into 2 seasons. It is likely that season 2 will entail most of the flash back sequences with Abby with Joel’s death at the end, and season 3 will be Ellie’s revenge story.

Then that icky feeling comes back because, surprise Abby is a well rounded character with a huge myscley heart to match that back and you care for.her now. You just leveled up your guilt.

@23 I respect that. That's the great thing about video games, we all like them for different reasons. Seeing ellie become the terminator then failing at the end, it was beautifuly written. When I first played with Abby I was so angry, she killed Joel. But Joel killed her dad. If Abby was the main character and not ellie we would probably dislike ellie. I'm happy to have a discussion about anything. I don't think your opinion is stupid or unfounded. I respect it. I understand it. Dude.....I usually play RPGs. Like final fantasy, Greedfall, outerworlds, and I have an unhealthy obsession with elder scrolls. I had a character just for crafting. Maxed out. How I made money in game. Each character gathered the skyshaeds of one part. I am disabled so I spend alot of time alone so I draw and game. Can't tattoo anymore. Can't bartend. So I game. Getting lost in these worlds is usually fun. This game had me.throwing the controller at points. Like fucking silent hill.

They won’t change it, notice in the show all the major events like Sam and Henry dying are kept in, they set up the game for rest of its story, otherwise there’d be plot holes
