It's sad to me to see some of my favourite buses end up this way in a bus graveyard, after the many years of hard service.

Excellent photographic subjects. Some of these photos must be quite old, from the '60's and '70's. Sad to see so many wonderful old buses going to the knacker's yard.

Its very sad how these buses have served the public all this time and have held so many memories but are just scrapped like this. So many people would pay so much money to buy these buses and restore them

Absolute rubbish. Bus enthusiasts had the chance to buy them out of service. But they didn't. There's far too many preserved vehicles and not enough interest. If you don't like the scrapping, why don't YOU go and buy up all the old busses if you think they are so valuable. Try and make your restored busses pay their way. You will not be able to. I say scrap and recycle old junk for the benefit of the community!

+BusGuy No, you also said that "so many people would pay so much money..." This is the statement I am challenging. There isn't the interest to make these things pay. That's why people don't pay money - it's a bottomless pit to waste cash on.

heelfan1234 By "people" I was referring to bus enthusiasts/collectors. However, sadly, the number of buses outnumber the amount of bus enthusiasts and the number of people willing to pay the very small amount to buy them. Because of this fact, a lot of them are scrapped, hence why I said it's sad. I did not mean to cause any offence to any scrapping enthusiasts/communities and if I did, I apologise.

Such a shame to see some of british history to be rusting away as time goes by, what's mostly sad is that they served the country for years upon years and have now been reduced to a distant memory only getting more and more distant :(

By the look of them, i would say most of these wrecks were involved in serious accidents or catching fire judging by the damage done to bodywork

Not the way scrapyards work these days. A colleague of mine reglaurly takes buses to the scrapyard in Barnsley. He commented when he came back once that by the time they had rolled up the straps they used to hold the bus on the trailer, the bodywork was a memory - just the chassis was left. Say 10 minutes from arrival.

Yes, it's a good idea to smash them to pieces as soon as possible to prevent bus enthusiasts trespassing all over the place and causing a heath and safety risk.

@Mike Lloyd He's just another young bus fan with no idea of economics. These foamers should pay for the restorations themselves instead of suggesting some mythical person with bottomless pockets should do it. Many bus restorations end up on the scrap heap anyway, when people start to realise the cash and the space required.

These have all been smashed and torn to small pieces and melted. But just write to any bus company and ask about disposals or look at scrapping tenders. Bid or pay the highest price and the scrap is yours. Much better condition than these are too but will be later model.
