    2013/14 is better on so many levels. 1) Better looking rear endby far, painted side skirts. 2) More power, one piece DS, larger intercoolers 3) First GT500 to reach 200mph 4) First GT500 to get away from gas tax, 26 mpg hwy. 5) Last GT500 Shelby rode in. 6) Better suspension, not a push pig like 07-12. 7) Needs nothing the way it came from factory. Just polishing Gold if you add to it. 8) Track apps and on the fly suspension tuning. 9) Last GT500 with a manual

    But you're paying ALOT more money up front. All those things are easy to address on a 5.4 car with all the money you save not going with the 5.8. It's not that different its the same car that was upgraded from the factory basically but things like suspension are easy to upgrade to not only factory 13-14 level but beyond. If you have a hard on for a stock car it comes better equipped. If you're upgrading either one the 5.4 makes way more sense especially if a blower swap is planned regardless. When they're running the same blower, pulley combo and supporting mods the power isn't much different. The 5.8 make more torque but considering the price difference the difference in performance isn't enough imo. To each their own. I like the earlier underdog cars I call them because people who don't know these cars think they're far inferior when they aren't at all.

    I don’t know if it’s worth it to spend the extra money on the 13-14, seems like it’d be better to just put the money into the 11-12 car.

    2.3 TVS, upgraded heat exchanger, and single piece driveshaft the 11/12 will be within 30-35 rwhp of the 13/14 pulley for pulley and the motor will have a wider tuning window. Plus the 11/12 will actually be faster because of the gearing differences Edit: * Quicker

    From what I see is that the 5.4 to me is better especially if you window the block it’s gonna be easier and cheaper to replace. It makes very similar power with similar upgrades and is a lower compression which is gonna extend the life of the engine in the long run.

    Why would the 11/12 block bet cheaper than the 13/14? Other than bore diameter, 8 tiny drill holes, and more deck cut off the 5.8 the 11/12 and 13/14 blocks are 100% identical. They are the same exact casting

    The 13-14 is just better equipped. Sure you can mod either car and get similar results, but you can do that with any car. TBH..I'd just find and old fox body, drop in a stroked 351W (390)..add a blower of choice and go racing if the discussion between the 11-12 and 13-14 is about cost. For many 13-14 owners it is about collect-ability and deep diving with major mods is not the goal as you can go faster for cheaper by avoiding a Shelby in the first place. With basic bolt ons the 13-14 will be faster simply because it is better equipped from the start. Both cars are nice..nothing wrong with either.

    The 5.8 is better, but they are both good.

  • @midnight347

    @midnight347

    Жыл бұрын

    "Better" is subjective. Do they make more power when all things are equal? Yes but not by much. They make more torque and do it on slightly less boost all things equal but when it comes to modding and pushing one to the max the 5.4 holds up as good or even better than the 5.8. And when you consider the money spent on each I'm not so sure the 5.8 is better for the money spent. But technically it is a better engine. More displacement and slightly better cams. But push comes to shove power is comparable when they are running the exact same setup, same pulley same everything the 5.8 will make more torque on slightly less boost but for the money spent imo the 5.4 is a better value. They're both great but the 5.4 is just as good when it comes to modding them just doesn't come as well equipped oem. They're pretty comparable though both having tr6060, both having 800+ rwhp capable long blocks, both make mad torque especially compared to a coyote based engine. If you wanna keep the car stock or mostly stock I can see the 13 being a better choice but if you're going to mod it anyways and plan a blower swap and suspension mods etc etc the 5.4 makes alot more sense imo for the money.

Carol Shelby was lost and gone forever in 2012 the 2013 and 2014 where his last project it was the true 200 mile an hour Version but the motor is the exact same motor. Call ford they will verify it! It's the Romeo Engine plant, the Niche Line!! Electric Power Steering!! Exact Same Motor, Aluminum Block. Only one hundred and twelve horsepower separate the two engines Power configurations!! 550 H.P. VS 662 H.P. !! Everything is identical, why would Ford Build a "cubic inch upgrade" of approximately 28 in. to such an expensive motor? There are approximately 61.3 ci. in. to a liter so do the math? What is the difference between the 5.4 and the 5.8 liters... how many cubic inches to a liter??? It's OK, but the blowers are the difference, The gearing is the difference, the cooling is the difference!! It creates one hundred and twelve additional factory S.A.E. horsepower!!!!

    I have an 11. Could I have bought a 13/14? Yes of course but the fun factor of me modding the car wouldn’t have been there. Remember most of us know better than the designers and engineers lol. But yea anyway the 13/14 is the best car out of the box but with some money thrown at it the 11/12’s are just as good. I bought my 11 with 26k on it for 32k. Think I’ve spent around 14k in parts and it’s sitting right at 700whp
