The Zone - Homelessness and Crime Rampant in Phoenix
You’ll know you’re in The Zone by the smell.
The suffocating stench of urine and feces. Rotting garbage. The occasional whiffs of fentanyl, or the synthetic drug Spice clouding the air. Dead bodies. No, it’s not a Third World nation-it’s a lawless encampment of over 1,000 homeless people in downtown Phoenix, where crime is rampant, and the city does virtually nothing about it.
The city’s inaction provoked a lawsuit by business owners in the Zone who are suffering the consequences of the unchecked homelessness crisis. This week, a Maricopa County judge issued a preliminary ruling, finding that the city has “intentionally stopped-or at least materially decreased-enforcement of criminal, health, and other quality of life statutes and ordinances in [T]he Zone,” effectively making it “off-limits to [law] enforcement.” That’s good news for the business owners, but the decision is just a first step in the long process of solving the problem.

That fire did not have gunshots at it. I was the one who called it in and it was co2 cartridges exploding in the fire. Its an awful situation and these people need proper resources and behavior helth assistance to help. If the city would stop investors driving up the housing/rent costs we would not have such an issue. The new owners of Sahara Palms in Gilbert wanted all residents to double the rent on a 1 bed apt from $1000 amonth to $1900 and dont care were we go if we dont pay! It's everywhere you turn. We all need someone to help stop this BS! Its sick!
This is everywhere now not just in the zone.
I live at CASS and these people are human beings not trash meant to be thrown out. Dont judge still you've actually lived on the streets because I bet over 75% wouldn't be able too and would be hopping from mental hospital to mental hospital

And I repeat, Seems we didn't have this problem when Sheriff Joe was running tent city and the democrats hadn't yet taken over the mayor's office and city council. And things will deteriorate even further if the Mayor's husband "wins" Sinema's Senate seat next fall.
