In a criminal trial circumstantial evidence can still lead to a conviction. But it really depends on the suspect. As long as the suspect is either black or brown you will convict almost 100% of time. Since the description of the zodiac was white there was absolutely no chance that you could convict on circumstantial evidence alone. - American Justice system.

What if the zodiac killer was more than one person. That's why some of the suspects are only linked to some of the murders. If the police only though they were looking for one person, they would never get enough evidence to send one of them to jail

Crazy theory. The guy who wrote Zodiac is the actual killer. He used that book to pin the blame onto someone else and to put in fiction events to keep him unsuspecting. (Also if you take notice of how many times a person was stabbed/ shot you get a series of scrambled letters. So victim one was shot once so it would be A, victim two was shot five times so E. I would like someone to continue this in this comment's reply section so I can see what letters there are. If I am correct, all letters should either spell or be included in Robert Graysmith's name. Even if it isn't spelling out Robert Graysmith or if the letters aren't all included. Try it with the other list of suspects mentioned. Another theory, take a look at where the zodiac killer commits his crimes on 8:20. Slowly join up the dots together and connect the first and last dot. It should make a hazard symbol like it did for me. In the middle of this symbol is a small space, that could be where he is located.

The information thats being withheld is more robust than you'd think. If Allen was involved, they would have dumped the whole case directly on him and stopped spending taxpayers money on it which has been ridiculous over 52 years. If it even hinted at him he would have died in jail.

I’ve always thought that it could have been a guy that had problems with dating young women in school and got picked on in high school. He targeted young couples, hence why I think so. Everything he did had some correlation with school

It's simple, in order to evade being caught you just have to be smart. The reason why smart murderers are rare is because murder is an absolutely stupid thing to do. It's a high risk act with virtually no pay off. It's a paradox, and luckily not one that we see often.

Wrong Most serial killers had above average IQ actually the common murderer had less. Serial Killers were smarter. The Zodiac was an idiot though, he often had grammar errors. People like The Tool Box Killers, or The Unibomber had amazingly high IQ, with the Tool Box Killers just shy of 140 [Genius level] IQ, while the Unibomber went to harvard and was smart [he had to build a bomb]

True, but he was often careless and almost got caught a few times. Killings with Guns are generally used with people with less IQ, compared to knife, and then compared to more complicated killings such as poisoning or bombing. I'm generally considered to say he was a little bit of an idiot. Theres a great podcast called Serial Killers which goes through the psychology of all this in an 1 hour 30.

Making grammar errors doesn't mean you have a bad IQ, I read some of the letters and it seems to be done on purpose, also if you look at them all you can see that it was more than one person who wrote them all or one guy who wrote them in different styles of writing

My friend once said that some people think they may have caught him for something else and he never said he was the zodiac and they never thought about it

He was never caught because police don't want to catch him, nor identify him.

Or copy cats. Not related but it's a common occurrence. If a killer gets fame via news or oine sources, a copy cat kill might pop up, pretending to be said killer. That could be why there were calling cards on some victims, and not others. That could also explain why the mode of killing changed. Killers usually either like a couple closely related methods of killing, or the method changes a lot. It could also explain why there is no connection between victims. Different people killing, different people they want killed.
