Ordered one with the code. Thanks! Adding variety is always good. Tried these without any pads and was way to uncomfortable at heavier weights.

I use a thick a thick ez bar . Good superset is zercher's followed by fronts . If I'm short of time I'll do ten sets .

You do, but the suck can just be hard instead of hard AND painful. Bahahaha

i also use the zercher pad/zercher squat on my secondary squat days. I really love the upright torso positioning .... it takes a lot of stress off my lower back that already gets hammered by low bar squats and deadlifts. i go one step further and do the zercher squats on squat wedges, to get a long ROM and focus on the quads. curious do you have a camber squat bar (like the ones from EliteFTS, etc. that are usually made out of schedule 40 pipe)? I believe supposedly those also mimic a quad-dominant / vertical torso squat as well but I dont want to pay for one of those and certainly dont have any room left in my small space to store one.

I do have a cambered squat bar but I find that it really forces staying tight in the hole a lot more effectively than remaining upright

Not that the pad is expensive at all, but if you already have an axle/fat bar, that + elbow sleeves is a cheap alternative that I've done. As an aside, if anyone isn't doing them, try zercher yoke carries, it'll be one he'll of a love/hate relationship.

What about using an axle for it? Should be much more comfortable than a normal barbell

  • @TheKurtlocker

An axle can work well as it spreads the surface area out. I have an axle but still prefer the Zercher pad

@@TheKurtlocker your reasoning for doing them is solid though. I think some of it is I have a really stiff ankle from an old injury-I laid on the gurney and listened to 2 docs argue about taking it now or later.... I can do a powerlifting straight shin squat but overheads and zerchers need more degrees of flexion than I have, so I wind up having to bury the bar hard in the groove and keep my arms straighter. Or something. Or I’m just a pussy with sissy elbows 🤣🤣
