The dish you prepared is a variation of Shakshuka, an Israeli breakfast. With your culinary skill, it would be easy for you to Google it and customize it to your specific tastes. We have a second hand thrift store called Value Village where I live, So far iv'e found two of those Billy Pot's for under $4.00 I always keep an eye out for low cost second hand gear, it just makes sense.

Thanks Wade! Another great outdoor recipe! I'm going to have to start writing these down because I can't keep up :) I've got a Zebra lunchbox pan which has the same internal small pan but has a long handle that folds and locks out to the side. You can't hang it over a fire but there's absolutely no chance of burning yourself. It works great. I've got a similar bag for it but made of waxed cotton from a guy who makes them himself here in the UK. I also have the nano you were using there - love it, especially how you can just drop it in your pocket! ATB, Mark.

Great job Wade :) The food looked well nice.... I think I will try that for my tea this evening!! Yeah, you can't beat the billy pot. I always carry one with me, whether it is storing items or being used for food or boiling water. Love the metal clips. You used to be able to buy them off eBay, but I haven't seen them for a couple of years. Sorry for turning up late, I have been working up in Scotland for a couple if days and just got back home. Wade, nice little outing. Ironically I was researching the same dish just now right before watching your video. Shakshuka is a Middle Eastern/North African dish where eggs are poached in a tomato, onion and spice sauce. I think this would make and easy and good dehydrated meal after substituting Ova-Easy egg crystals instead of fresh eggs. Well done!

Woodswalker great video I do something very similar with my eggs in the Bush with my billypot love that set up I make ham briskets and eggs in the top boiler coat the bottom with a lot of butter and a thick piece of ham brisket mix and then throw in an egg and cook. I check the website and the covers for all the billy pots are sold out as of right now

Woodswalker 1965: The challenge will be the salsa. Not something you find in my local (Swiss) supermarket . They sell 'salsa', but it isn't. I'll have to google for a recipe and make my own, but then that is fun too!

Nice vid Wade, cant beat a zebra billy pot. Ive got the 12 and 14cm versions. I modded my 12cm with a wire bail and bought the 14cm with the metal clips. Thanks for sharing mate, the cheese bannock looked tasty. Take care.

What you're doing with the eggs and salsa is more like shakshuka than huevos rancheros. It's a Mediterranean / Middle Eastern breakfast dish 😉

Looks like “Huevos Rancheros” to me. That’s a fairly common breakfast the closer you get to the Mexican border. Google it for pictures etc....it’s served many ways including the way you’ve shown as well as with the eggs scrambled in a tortilla.

I have a 16 cm and I recently bought the 10. I wish I had purchased the 12 as the 10 has the plastic clips and I can’t find any metal clips for the 10.
