    Haha😄, as do I but this one seems to do it a little bit more, mostly in the “cranking” part of the retrieve. You can really feel it.. you definitely have to pull then crank, like you’re really in a Tuna😄.. it’s not extreme but different. The Shakespeares, The Century’s, they do it as well but not as noticeable.. maybe I’m just paying more attention to the gear growl when I’m using them🤣. To this point however, I like the reel.. from what I’ve seen, the only thing I have to be worried about is the button under the rubber boot breaking.. it’s the only plastic part on the reel.

    🤠Hello there!! I was a little hopped up on coffee and just trying to find a good way to make a video on a fishing reel be a little more interesting than just a “review”.. I have sporadic tendencies😁. That reel seems to work pretty well but due to its fast gear ratio, it tends to make small fish seem larger, which in some peoples eye, might be or seem like a good thing😃. It definitely gives you more of a fight. I’m preparing to do a video on the Delta as well. A slightly lower priced Zebco ($65 new) just to see how much of a difference there is between the two and if spending that extra $35 is worth it.. Thanks so much for watching and despite my over caffeinated ramblings, I hope you got something from the video that actually helped you!! Again, thanks!! Willie

    That Zebco Bullet casts as far as a bait cast reel. I experienced the same thing reeling-in fish. It feels like you are working a winch compared to the vintage spin casters. It must have something to do with the gear ratio and big handle. It's great to see you're having fun again! Andy

    Hey Andy🤠 Yes Sir, I definitely needed that.. I was hyped up on coffee and cinnamon rolls so if I would’ve went out there and not caught anything my sugar crash may have been extreme carnage 😄. I’m seriously thinking about getting the larger version just to have them both. Only downfall I’ve seen is the plastic button under the rubber boot. The hinge pins can break. So I guess we’ll just have to see how it goes!! Thanks for watching Andy!! Hope all is well with ya!! Willie

    Hey Willie, love your videos. I''m also a Vintage Reel guy so your content is fun for me to watch. You mentioned it is more difficult to reel in the fish with that reel compared to say the old Johnsons. I was watching a video the other day that discussed this same thing. The higher the gear ratio (some are even 10:1 nowadays) the harder it is to reel in. If you're comparing that reel with the older Johnsons the gear ratio is about twice as high for the Zebco. The Century gear ratios were right around 3:1, that one is almost 6:1. Hope that helps.

    Hey there🤠, Yes after doing the homework and realizing how much quicker the Zebco’s retrieve was it all made sense. I really should’ve waited to make that statement after I did the homework😂. The physics of a “spin cast reel” compared to say a bait caster or spinning reel are very different and when you add quicker gear ratios to a spin cast reel, it’s going to be harder to retrieve and make a small fish seem larger. Personally, I’ll stick with my vintage equipment. I’d rather pay $100 for something old and mint in the box than spend that same $100 on something new that’s just trying to reinvent the wheel.. Since you’re a vintage equipment guy yourself, I believe you understand where I’m coming from😄. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!! I appreciate it very much!! Willie

    The sale at BPS is the only way I would’ve bought it.. I’m not spending that kinda money on a spin caster no matter how good it is, simply because I can put $100 to better use on something else.. I’ve got a ton of old Spincasters that’ll do the job. Maybe not as elegantly but still get the job done. I even thought about going to get the bigger version (30) but I honestly would only be doing for content purposes because I truly don’t NEED it and again, that’s $63 I can use elsewhere. I’d been wanting to try out the better made Zebco, I have now and I’m impressed to this point..

    What a great day on the water! Very nice Crappie and Bass on that size 20 Bullet. They are nice but kind of heavy, built like a tank. The standard Bullet 30 size is nice but the MG is a bit lighter. They just don’t have much toque so you really need to use the rod to move the fish, and reel in line. Fish on!!!

    Hey there🤠 Yes it was truly a great way to start the season. I’m very glad it turned out that way. Spending that kinda money on a rod and reel and then NOT catching anything could’ve been a catastrophe!! lol 😂 I was very impressed with the distance of cast and how smooth it retrieved.. but the gear ratio definitely gives you the idea your catch is larger than it actually is.. It’ll be interesting to see what something in the 2 to 3lb range will be like. I’m came very close to going back and getting the size 30 but this was just an experiment that I’ve been wanting to try for quite some time.. so far, I’m enjoying the outcome.. Baitcasters and I have that “Love/Hate Relationship” so many people talk about. I love bait casters but I hate untangling, it takes time away from fishing. So far, this Bullet is impressive in a couple of places.. casting distance and being very smooth.. only thing I’ve noticed is that it seems to make smaller fish feel larger. You definitely have to pull with the rod, then retrieve a lot, even with smaller fish. I’m looking very forward to using this reel more and am actually thinking about getting a larger version.. I bought the 20 however, if I can go get the 30 for the same price, it might happen. Nothing wrong with just having it around.. for testing purposes of course 😉😄

    @@deckard313 Now maybe the gear ratio from the 20 to the 30 is a bit different and I won’t notice it as much. The only way to know is to get one I guess🫣. Sadly, I’ve heard other stories like yours about the Piscifun reels. I’ve had other friends that have mentioned the long term issues with them.. they just don’t seem to hold up. I have two left maybe three but I don’t use them as much as I did simply because of all the other reels I’ve acquired (vintage reels) and enjoy fishing with. I’ve given away several Piscifun to friends and actually can’t see myself really owning anymore. But as soon as Bass Pro opens, another hour and half, I’m gonna head down there and see what they have left..🤫😉

    @@TheGraytOutdoors I am thinking of using the zebco bullet for medium and large trout. Do you think I should use the 20 0 30? Because trout teeth tend to damage 6lb line and I'm thinking of size 30 for 10lb line.

  • @TheGraytOutdoors

    @TheGraytOutdoors

    3 ай бұрын

    @@user-dr6pn6lw5j Well, I would say it really depends on a few things.. Like, running water(rapids) that will make a 2lb trout feel like a 10lb trout or calm slow flowing water. Also, you have to remember that the 30 is a physically larger reel.. I don’t have huge hands so I prefer the 20 over the 30 just because of that alone. I’ve caught some pretty large fish on 4,6, and 8lb line so the 6 and 8lb lines are fine with me. The max drag is 10lb on the 20 so if you think that you’re going exceed that range, then the 30 is 12lb… Honestly, it’s very hard to tell someone what they need for their style of fishing. Because on many occasions I’ve used something that wasn’t designed to do what I was using it for😂. So all I can do is give you my “personal opinion” on what I’d use if I were trying to do what you’re doing and it’s just my opinion only! I think the 20 is fine but if you can tolerate the “size” of the 30 go with that.. There’s only 80yds of 6lb mono on the 20 but I’ve heard of people using braided line on the 20, if that’s true, you could definitely get some added strength by doing that.. 🤔Maybe I should do a video on using braided line on the Bullet? 😳. So for me personally, I’d use the 20.. but before you make a decision, get a few more opinions on the subject, just in case. I’ve still got more testing to do on that reel.. By the way, I also bought a “Zebco Delta” that I’m going to do a comparison against the Bullet very soon.. Hope I helped you a little bit, thanks for watching!! Willie

I use Spincast reels almost every time I go out but it’s because I’ve always been a fan of the underdog and it adds another level of challenge to the trip. There may be $100 worth of technology in that reel but my vintage will do the same thing and some of them I only paid a couple dollars for but they’re worth way more to me..
