Hello guys and gals, it's me Mutahar again! KZreadr's and Festivals might as well be like water and oil, better off never mixing. Last month as many content creators we're attending VidCon, a convention that serves as an annual gathering of various creators from multiple platforms and communities. KZreadr Glink decided to host their own "festival" known as Lightwave, billed as a meeting of engineers and artists ended up being anything but a poorly planned event. Just how poorly planned was this event. Sit back, relax as we investigate just how deep this harmless rabbit hole goes. Thanks for watching!

Click vessi.com/sog and use code SOG for $25 off each pair of Vessi shoes! Free shipping to CA, US, AUS, NZ, JP, TW, KR, SGP. Update: I made a mistake in not contacting everyone throughout this. This was meant to be a lighthearted video I did regarding a KZread event planned poorly. In my research I didn't reach out personally to Louis Rossman and used a public comment he made on a different video. Louis has recently commented and said he was paid months in advance by an individual attending this event and as a gesture of good faith and politeness attended this event. I do apologize if anything came across deceptive to Louis Rossman and his non-profit. Non-profits are public and highly regulated. To further clarify in this video, NO ONE has committed any forms of financial fraud (I don't know if that was a potential take-away from all this but I should state it completely for the obvious). My regret is not reaching out to every party. I finalized the video and sent it in for edits. In my defence some of these things I considered insignificant and forgot about by the end of this little project.

15:20 my non profit got that money 18 months ago before this conference was ever announced. The person who donated was going to be there, so I went to say hi. He didn't give me a million dollars to go to this festival. The publicly available 990 shows any revenue and what I pay myself from that non profit. Which is $0 Why not just email me to ask this stuff ?? Or just check the publicly available records for my organization

Louis Rossmann is a stand up guy. The fact he attended this event to finally meet his nonprofit's biggest donor, and then stayed as a panellist once he discovered exactly how botched it was says two things: Firstly, he really believes in his cause, and secondly he must be a lot more relaxed now he's out of New York! Even if what Muta said about him being paid to be there was true, knowing what Louis is like, I'd have absolutely no issue with that.
@ember3579
Жыл бұрын
Apparently he got the dosh 18 months before this event was even announced. According to him, he only showed up because the guy who gave a million to get his nonprofit off the ground was an attendee and he wanted to say thanks in person. Even if the cash was attached to showing up, though, putting on the clown nose and honking for a day is well worth the price of getting that much to an important cause like this.

Louis actually needs money to fund his right to repair campaigns in different states etc. he's essentially trying to position himself and/or (he prefers others I believe) as lobbyists for right to repair. We all know that costs money and he's a pragmatic person. You toss money to his cause i cant imagine why he wouldn't do a favor
@mf--
Жыл бұрын
He hired lobbyists in key states where right-to-repair legislations is being held. A lot of bills are being rejected only because the tech industry sends representatives against it and no one opposes. @roffel6876

Right. And he didn't start out paying lobbyists. At first, he tried to attend public hearings and giving testimony until he learned how the system works. It's really hard to do politics in the US, even if you support a good cause, without throwing heaps of money at it as well.

I'm a political event organizer. This level of an action is so exceptionally difficult its absurd. You're dealing with local ordinances, local council members, communicating with local transit authorities, renting transportation services, porta potties, security, medics, and coordinating between the coalitions of attendees. Gotta get permits and everything which can take months on its own. Our yearly May Day marches require 3 months of regular meetings between production teams (approx 50-100 people total) to build the action as you go down tight deadlines to ensure basic safety. @@PlanetJeroen As a vegan, you'll probably hear mixed opinions, but it's not supposed to be that nitpicky imo. I don't squash little buggies for fun but also like mosquitoes and roaches are NOT welcome in this house. I don't grow my own food so I'll just take what I can get tbh. Also pesticide concerns aren't exclusively by vegans, but but environmentalists and human rights activists as well. You can try shopping organic if they are really concerning for you, though I forget the degree of which the certification label actually means something. I don't grow my own food so I try not to be too picky about produce. Anyway good vegan shoes means you will almost always be paying a much higher markup for a less durable shoe sadly, synthetic leathers can be made decently but will not compare to animal leathers. Pros and cons; I'm not opposed to thrifting higher end leather shoes (or just outright buying leather shoes if your field of work demands it - it's not a vegan world so you just have to make do). Maybe in the future things would be different but until then it's whatever I guess. But yeah veganism isn't just food (that's why people created the term plant-based), but it's also clothes, toiletries, makeup etc. It's one of those "just do your best" situations really, the world is complicated enough as it is.

We've had Internet Historian videos on other disasters like Rainfurrest, Fyre Festival, Dashcon, Kony 2012. I'm looking forward to the IH video on Light Wave. On the plus side, Light Wave had advantages that Rainfurrest and Fyre Festival didn't have. It had a lack of Furries and it took place in a metropolitan American city. It also seems better organized than Dashcon. I didn't see a kiddie pool ball pit.

Right to repair falls into the categories of anti planned obsolescence and the right to do what you want with the product that you bought and now own without the fear of bricking your device. You should be able to swap out a battery without fear of bricking your product that you bought and own. Its Corporate greed and enslaving the consumer. I don't get the impression that Rossman went to the event for the million dollars. I think he was getting the million dollars anyway and coming out there to meet with this person, and the guy asked him to stop by this place as a random side event that he was planning on being at.
My problem with Glink as a former watcher, is that it seemed like he thought his shit didn't stink. There was a subtle air of superiority to some of his subjects that started to creep in and bothered me. It seems it really has gotten to him.

I don't understand how people keep failing this bad at conventions... Like, just take your time figuring out a FUN game plan, which people would actually enjoy and feel like they got their money's worth from, lock down your "performers" and/or guests, find out the maximum capacity and figure out how many tickets can be sold, how much security to have, calculate how many food trucks and free water access you'd approximately need, get a big enough venue for people to have breathing room, get a game plan for both hot and cold, rainy weather, give people different activities to keep them busy in between main events, have ample parking and exits there so they don't get jammed up or trampled, then make sure you do a PRACTICE RUN! You won't be able to see how it'll pan out with all of the festival goers, but you could at least see whether or not the main performances suck or not. All the other aspects should be taken care of, because they should be some of the first things that are accounted for. All of these events I see people talk about, it seems as though they don't even have these youtubers do a practice run of their speeches or performances. I feel like if the majority of these people did so much as practice at their local gymnasium or something, they would either completely scrap their ideas and start over again, or they'd drop out all together. Just gather up a small group of people and put on the show you intend to give to the festival goers. If your group of trial-guests aren't blown away, you need to start over.
ayy yo whats up with this new fancy editing…I love it dude

I could be wrong, but I don't believe Louis was actually paid a mil for attending. It seems he was asked by a donor to his nonprofit to attend, and that donor happened to have paid a lot. So when he was asked to attend he didn't want to be rude, also there was more to it than that, seems like Louis enjoyed to have a reason to travel to Austin as he is purportedly beginning a new period of employment in the city.

Glink’s Lightwave disaster somehow reminds me of coachella festival fiascos and Jason Russell’s Kony 2012 movement aftermath.
