    How can you palpate the biceps tendon in the bicipital groove while it lies under the anterior aspect of the deltoid muscle and the transverse humeral ligament?? And can you tell me in which direction the biceps tendon will pop out, according to you?

  • @Physiotutors

    @Physiotutors

    5 жыл бұрын

    You can palpate the biccipital groove through the anterior deltoid. In the original article by Yergason et al. from 1931, they report that "in use destruction, the biceps tendon wears away the lesser tuberosity sometimes to such an extent that the tendon slips over it out of the groove. "

    We have found different descriptions. This is based on Walsworth et al. (2008), Magee describes the test with external rotation as well. In any case we will double-check and adjust if necessary - thanks for th hint! Also happy that you like our videos and thank you for subscribing!

    We think it helps to look at real shoulder anatomy in the dissection room to realize that our anatomy is not as clear-cut like in the textbooks. So it is unlikely that our clinical tests are specific tests to really determine the structure that is causing nociception: facebook.com/Physiotutors/posts/1934441160123421

    Yergason test: feel for bicipital groove and resist patient's supination of forearm (elbow flex and adducted). Feel the pop: tear of transverse humeral ligament; no pop but pain, erythema: slap lesions or bicep tendonitis
