The Wurzels, I Am A Cider Drinker
Музыка
The Wurzels perform one of their hit singles "I am a cider drinker" in their west country UK way.
The band with a Somerset twang had a hit single with this tune in '76.
Introduction is done by two Arrows band members, guitarist Terry Taylor, and the group's chronically eccentric singer Alan Merrill.

Real sincere entertainers. Great video.
Where are all the funny novelty songs today, you might scoff but it was part of growing up when I was a kid, fondly remembered, I love all music but everything has it's place and should be respected, today the suits rule ( cowell and co) bring back rock n roll and divas, at least they produced. Ed

Saw them live at Butlins Minehead in 2003 Just as good now as they were then but without Adge Cuttler God rest. oh ar oh r eh!!
They all look like they've been at the Zeppelin really. This was what passed for entertainment in the late 70s and we were grateful for it, lol
I LOVE the Wurzles!!!! We used to have a cassette tape of theirs and it was a family favorite. The kids and I used to have so much fun listening to it and dancing around while we cleaned the house! I have no idea what happened to that cassette, but I could cry every time I remember its gone!!! I'm so happy to have just discovered the Wurzles on KZread! I can't find the song with the lyrics 'base over apex again' (or something like that) .. anyone have a link to it?
No better place to sing this than in front of kids! haha!
Saw them the other day :)
I be from Somerset, Glastonbury :)
The show's presenter Alan Merrill of the Arrows looks as if he's forgotten where he is. Great stuff.

Wow, all those kids singing along are cider drinkers! :D
Christ the 70s I miss em
I don't drink anymore but Cider used to irritate me because I loved the taste but it used to give me an headache!, Reminds me of the Top Deck Cans of Pop, Cider Shandy & Lime etc!.
they come to playmoth in july 2007. i be there :d
The comments on here are the funniest i have seen on youtube. Happy New Year!
Proper job!
A mate of mine`s got an old Slim Whitman record, And one of the songs on it sounds just like this, Only they have changed the lyrics, I imagine that must be the original because it was so long ago, I also heard one of the singers died in a car crash near Taunton some time ago. As for the Cider! I doubt a lot of the stuff on the market has ever seen an apple! I know If you drink it over a long time, It gives you high blood pressure, That`s why the farmers gets their red faces.
proper job. I have this accent haaaaaaaa
Yes, he's still around doing solo albums. He played with Meat Loaf for a few years as well, as his guitar player in the 80s. Name is Alan Merrill.
No, it's Alan Merrill of The Arrows and singer-songwriter of the original version of 'I love rock n roll' - A decade later he would revisit the UK with Meat Loaf as his guitar player.
@MrPotatoTrooper that will be absolutely epic! can't wait =)
Arrows lead singer Alan Merrill is the guy doing the bit of singing 0:06 and who introduces the Wurzels. Arrows guitarist Terrry Taylor appears at the very beginning 0:01 of the clip.
proper job in all
proper job...!!!!
The Arrows Show. Granada/ITV 1976.
everytime i go to a house party, i get drunk on cider and play this as loud as i can and start singing it in my boxers :L good timews :D
:P Hard core rockin!
If this was released now, the government would insist that the following health warning was shown on the screen: "Men should drink no more than 21 units of alcohol per week and women should drink no more than 14 units of alcohol per week" .
A right proper song! Now pass the cider!!
ALESTORM
gotta love Alestorm for getting it right.
proper job!
This song looks like its going to be a hit again. People in the UK are downloading this song in protest at the 10% above inflation price rise on Cider. Quoite Roight too. Carnt beat a drap o' the ol' Coidar. The Worzels provided the soundtrack to our farmyards and drinking sessions.
proper job
My Mum used to sing this to me when she put Woodpecker in my bottle to get me to sleep!!!
The video description answers many of the questions below. But I suppose people are too stunned by the clip to read!
Ten Percent!!! Bl**dy Darling!
Never thought about it like that, funny as f*ck.

Ooh aah!
Oh how I miss yoomerus tions!!
The bloke at the start is Marc Bolan I think. An icon of the seventies, singer with T Rex
come on city
It was on a teen pop show, and it was the 70s. Plus, there is cider without alcohol. It is kind of ironic though, yes!
Worked on the door where they were playing last night. Still going, and two of the guys in this vid are still in the band (Tommy Banner and Pete Budd - left and centre in the vid) :)
