The Wrath of God (Paul Washer)

"Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors."
Isaiah 53

    on the third DAY Jesus rose from the grave and now he is seated on the right hand of God. Jesus now lives so I serve a living God who gave me the keys to the kingdom because I have confessed that Jesus is lord and one cannot say Jesus is lord except by the holy spirit, the time is now Paul washer for judgement is without mercy for him who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgement...

    Luke 9:51-56: 51 Now it came to pass, when the time had come for Him to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem, 52 and sent messengers before His face. And as they went, they entered a village of the Samaritans, to prepare for Him. 53 But they did not receive Him, BECAUSE His face was set for the journey to Jerusalem. 54 And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?” 55 But He turned and rebuked them, and said, “You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. 56 For the Son of Man DID NOT come to destroy men’s lives but to SAVE THEM.” Jerusalem: (in Hebrew: yerushalaim) "yeru" means: flow, like a river flowing out of a hand or finger, in the sense of POINTING out the way one should go. Shalayim: is from the word shalam: PEACE/complete and whole. Together they mean: POINTING THE WAY TO PEACE OR COMPLETENESS... John 6:33: The TRUE bread of God is He Who comes down from heaven and GIVES LIFE TO THE WORLD.

    @paulomi123 Psalm 7:11 "God is a righteous Judge, who expresses His wrath every day." What if God, although choosing to show his wrath and make his power known, bore with great patience the objects of his wrath-prepared for destruction? (the unsaved) 23 What if he did this to make the riches of his glory known to the objects of his mercy (the elect), whom he prepared in advance for glory- 24 even us, whom he also called, not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles? All for His glory. Amen

    @patriotsplaya7 now about the judge i agree with you good judges get rid of criminals but why, because they cannot restore what has been lost, or make right what has been wronged, for example if a thief robs my watch and runs away, and then cops catch him he is sentenced to severe beating , but i dont get my watch back will it truly restore justice to me? but God can make right all that has been wronged, and secondly what gives you the idea that simply exacting punishment fulfills justice?

    @patriotsplaya7 and thirdly and most importantly i would say if God lets a thief free, how is it injustice , to whom has been injustice done?, you would say to the one who got robbed, fair enough, but within the judgment of God not one is righteous and all deserve damnation, so if God forgives all including the one who was robbed ,since he himself also deserves damnation, to whom is injustice done, this is the difference between our human law court judgment and God's judgment

    @patriotsplaya7 God is not a judge, but a father to all creation, and my question was, how can good be infinitely loving and infinitely wrathful? you see God is infinite and any attribute or nature of God is undoubtedly infinite within God, so if thats the case how can He be loving and wrathful at the same time? that would cause a schism in God, so either it would mean it is loving to be wrathful or wrathful to be loving , hope you got my question :)

    @paulomi123 Well you do not see how wicked man is, to go against the commands of the living God, who is ABSOLUTELY GOOD. And they, we, do not do this once or twice, but ALOT...How can a great judge allow serial killers or repeat offenders, or even a first time thief, go without justice? "Oh, I'm a loving judge, so you can go free." Good judges get rid of criminals. How much more so our perfect God. We do not get sentenced for the good we do, but for the bad. That is why we must live by faith.

    @patriotsplaya7 the wrath of God is not an arbitary revenge against humans rather it is what humans experience when God frees them from sin, and the men dont want to part from sin, in other words even His wrath is an act of love, when God destroyed sodom and gomorrah He actually did them a favour by saving them from further falling out of communion with God and into utter despair, that is the gist of my question suggest you to reread it cheers

    @patriotsplaya7 that 'god is a righteous judge" is an image showing God's righteousness, it would be naive to image God sitting as a judge in a law court ,it is one image out of many used in the bible father,redeemer,king,saviour throughout the psalms dont you think disconnecting one aspect and making it as all in all is doing injustice to the bible? the wrath of God is not wrath as we understand it, because God is spirit, and it is beyond us to imagine God as being wrathful

  • @paulomi123
    @paulomi12312 жыл бұрын

    @patriotsplaya7 of course if God had simply forgiven a few and punished others then God would have been unjust but that is not the case, so God letting go of a sinner is not at all unjust because He forgives all , and all deserve damnation, all are guilty and if i let go of all the guilty then to whom is injustice done?, its just an orthodox perspective, if it helps use it, or else just leave it, cheers

    @paulomi123 yo I read through your comments and I gotta tell u, you're reading & understanding the bible in a wrong way, u need to talk to people to help u understand the bible more & most especially understand God more and His attributes. u say 'how can God be eternally loving & wrathful at the same time?' Because He is GOD. haven't you read the story of the rich man and Lazarus?? nobody in the scripture talks more about Hell that Jesus because Hell is real.

    JESUS TAUGHT GOD IS NEVER WRATHFUL If one is content to arbitrarily cherry pick verses from the Bible as a monolithic revelation, then it's fairly easy to find some language to say God actually hurts people and makes them suffer. That said, as far as the rationale for inflicting suffering (by God or Man) goes, there is quite a progression, beginning with no limits on revenge, as was evident by the behavior of at least a couple of Jacob's sons, to the initial limits found in Mosaic Law, which called for revenge not to exceed the degree of the original offence (one eye only for one eye) and carried no more than upon the children of a 4th generation of the original offender (instead of so many generations of blood feuds, no one can even remember how it started), to what the Jewish prophets decreed later on--equal revenge can only be carried out against the person who actually committed the original defense, not his children or family and, then, the concept that only God should be the One to carry out revenge. Given the direction of these gradual changes to how retaliation moved in the Jewish Bible, then Jesus' stance, as is evidenced in Matthew 5:38-48, simply represents one more step in the progression of God's revelation to humanity about what He really was after all along, especially given Jesus' claim that God is NOT vindictive, not at all, and returns only love for evil! Why then was it that people in ancient, biblical times, assuming Jesus was correct about God's non-vindictive nature, led them to incorrectly think God was actually doing bad things? The answer is really not that surprising! Before Science finally came along and revealed that many of the bad things that happen to people--earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, pandemics, lightening strikes, storms, tornados, hurricanes, and so on--are caused by unguided nature...humans in their ignorance thought supernatural forces were intentionally operating their world! The ancient Israelites, and later Jews, were no different! It took a very long time before they could even begin to think in terms of allowing for no one to be at fault for any given tragedy, outside of what humans did one to another. Further, it's still a huge challenge, even today, to point out to people how retaliating against those convicted of crimes has not resulted in any reduction of crime! If anything, when a State is empowered to make people suffer, it only reinforces the criminal mind set--"Hurting people and threatening to hurt people is an acceptable way to get what you want"! Regardless of how nothing is to be gained from punishment, many people still think it's a good thing to give in to the carnal urge to strike back when struck! And they often fall back on the sort of theology that claims God is vindictive in order to justify their retaliatory behavior! But for any who wish to follow the teachings and example of Jesus, there is no room to justify revenge or to think causing suffering ever SUBTRACTS from some mystical balance sheet (as the pagan goddess Justitia was said to do), but only MULTIPLIES evil committed!
