  I take it this interview came after the one where propagandist Ben Stein hid his creationist agenda, and begged Dr Dawkins to say how "intelligent design" might possibly be true. I bet that was what Dawkins was thinking about here. -"Stumped"- Tricked by dishonest creationists again!

  Amazed to see group of people living in this modern age where science has really advanced and denied the imaginary claims of theory of evolution but they still think that living things came into being by chance. Darwin himself mentioned in his book a whole chapter named 'Difficulties in Theory' where he wrote that transitional forms from reptiles to fishes to birds must have existed which will be found in fossils. today we know that no fossil has been found which shows the signs of any transitional creature (mixture of different species like reptile to mammal). there is not even a single transitional form so far found between any groups as evolutionists imagine. some evolutionists also claim that reptiles transformed into mammals but these two class of living things are very distinct as reptiles lay eggs while mammals give birth to their offsprings. they also claim that reptiles transform to birds. somebody must tell them that reptiles have scales, birds have feathers and mammals have furs. they are all distinct living creatures came into being separately with no common ancestor as evolutionists claim or I should say claimed before till their claims were demolished by Science so that directed their attention to something else. when evolutionists failed to prove their claim and faced by new scientific facts which were completely against that evolutionists claimed, they directed their attention to new claim that human beings are descendants of apes (monkeys). Baseless scenario of the human evolution is imposed on the public by the means of imaginary drawings that appear in publications owned by evolutionists or their admirers. From these drawings, they try to give impression that these half man or transitional forms between apes and humans did live once. they do that just to mislead the public. even those claims which were denied by evolutionists themselves over the period of time are taught to children in schools. this great imagination of evolutionists did not stop to drawings or models. they even went on to make movies in which imaginary halfman act but all of these are pure deception. evolutionists should realize that these fake or misleading drawings, models or movies have no scientific value.

  It's not a misconception Richard, if evolution happened there would absolutely be transitional fossils everywhere, I like how he denies there would be transitional fossils, but nowadays he claims a couple of teeth, ribs and a jaw lying in the smithosian on a table are transitional. Love how they change their tune, anything to avoid what they already know in their hearts.

  Simple answer, endosymbiosis. One endosymbiotic event between proteobacteria and Archaea gave us the first eukaryotes ( cells that would evolve a nucleus ) and a second endosymbiotic event between eukaryotes and cyanobacteria gave us modern eukaryotes with complex internal membranes.

  This makes me think of a very loving person, Joseph Schwarze who passed away on December 17th, 2020 - leaving much heartache. "Since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside Thee, what He hath prepared for him that waiteth for Him" (Isaiah 64:4).

  Firstly, humans did not evolve from monkeys. Instead, monkeys and humans share a common ancestor from which both evolved around 25 million years ago. This evolutionary relationship is supported both by the fossil record and DNA analysis. This means that we are related to other apes and that we are apes ourselves. So alongside us, the other living ape species have also evolved from that same common ancestor, and exist today in the wild and zoos. The idea of sharing a common ancestor leads to a major misunderstanding inherent in the question, which Dawkins tries to explain here, that evolution is a linear process where one species evolves into another. Evolution is really a branching process where one species can give rise to two or more species. The fallacy of linear evolution is like asking: how can I share common grandparents with my cousins if my cousins and my grandparents are still alive.
