The Worst Vacuum Cleaner Ever Made? Vintage 1983 Goblin Housemaid 107A

Ойын-сауық

Hi gang! Been a while since I uploaded a video. Life is busy but seeing as we all can't go anywhere I thought it would be good to make one for you.
Here's the terrible Goblin Housemaid for your viewing pleasure. This one even has the tools!
Enjoy :)

Dust won't hurt you as much as the cockroaches and mice that would come without vaccumming.

😂You guys had the Goblin and we Americans had The Regina Housekeeper, in my opinion it was one of the worst American made vacuum cleaners! 🇬🇧🇺🇸

One of my biggest regrets is that 25 years ago I had the chance to acquire the pink Regina Housekeeper and let it slip through my fingers. Rare in America, ULTRA rare in the UK!!

This was fun. So, judging by the review, this is still longer lived and cleaned better than a Dyson.

Just a note, though Goblin discontinued their own branded Housemaids in 83/84, they carried on for another 2 years badged as Spinney for Littlewoods catalogues. God, imagine in 1986 choosing between a Housemaid, a Hitachi Powerhouse and a Panasonic 40 series. Hmmm, decisions decisions.

Mad isn't it?! Ten years of that TERRIBLE range of cleaners lol. I'd love to have em all now but there's no chance of that. I'd estimate 99% of them are in landfill

It did eat up the dirt for lack of suction.

A friend of my mother had one of these but was blue so am thinking it was 1970's one. Apart from being a bit on the cheap side it seems to have decent agitation on it.

Yes that would have been one of the original machines from around 1976

I keep noticing in a lot of vacuum collector videos, they are also videogame collectors too. Me too. How does this work out? lol

I think it's all about the 'Collecting Bug'. I could collect almost anything and become obsessive about it. Just need some self control. OK, a LOT of self control!!

I hear ya. I had to prune off a lot of my collections over the years and just focus on the ones that give me the most joy. Videoames are #1 on the tier, then Hot Wheels/diecast cars, then VHS tapes, then vacuums. Exit signs are just a small side collection I stopped collecting for in 2012, and I add to whenever I come across one and never actually hunt them out. I don't want to get rid of them because that's how I learned electrical work and electrical repairs. Same with my cell phone collection, I learned electronics repair with them, and a lot of the ones I have you don;t see show up on eBay anymore much at all. I used to collect flashlights too but I got out of it.

Lol same for me. I love vacuums, cassette/tape technology, tornado sirens, and old ads.

I wonder how they got by with Oreck not noticing. That’s how Regina got shut down with making the brush-n-beat

Oreck weren't in the market themselves at the time, furthermore many machines in the UK resembled this one

You can tell it looks cheap but in fairness it didn't do a bad job. It is no worse than some of early Tiny Goblin cylinder.

I wonder if there was a rubber shortage/strike in 82/83 in England? They had to know they were making a pile of crap and just didn't care.
