In the entire model era, people like to immediately jump to Edward Strikes Out as the worst Thomas episode. It’s the big old punching bag of the Model Era. And yes, Edward Strikes Out is a steaming hot mess with the wrong main character in a generic HiT era plot. But you know what Edward Strikes Out DID do? It did affect Sodor’s history a bit with the introduction of Rocky, and Edward DID learn a lesson in the end even if he was out of character and not right for the lead role. But Push Me Pull You has every problem that Edward Strikes Out has amped up to eleven and only adds to the fire by having characters learn nothing and making the two oldest engines on the whole of Sodor act like literal babies because “small engine = kid” to the HiT higher ups. Push Me Pull You is arguably worse than all of AEG, heck it might be the worst Thomas related thing of all time that isn’t MIR, BWBA or AEG. One thing is certain though, THIS is the worst of the entire Model Era and it’s not even close. Nothing anything Mattel makes from here on out can possibly dethrone this abomination unless they try to one-up it on purpose. edit: just remembered Forever and Ever is a thing, that's THE worst thomas thing that isn't MIR, BWBA and AEG, with Push Me Pull You just being the worst of the model era

And I don't consider AEG to be "true" Thomas if that makes any sense. The same can be said for everything BWBA that isn't Sodor-related (with a few exceptions) or by Michael White.

I actually forgot this episode’s existence, let alone what it was even about, until you did this. Had me laughing the whole time with how mad it was making you and I agree wholeheartedly.

I find it funny that you have a thumbnail of pics from the episode “The Flying Kipper” possibly for people to click as to why you think it’s the worst but, the video is about an actually bad episode full of bad writing and inconsistency. @@asafjuarez1 I guess trackmaster 1 is great for being intact because my trackmaster 2 engines from 2014 either have fading paint, no eyebrows, pen and marker marks, coal turning the color of the engine or no side rods and that gear that grips the rails on the wheels

This episode is a middlefinger to Skarloey.

In the HiT era, Skarloey is either portrayed as a spineless coward, or a reckless idiot, and this episode is him at his worst in the latter category. (Wharf and Peace is the worst you can do on the coward side)

I think that doing Thomas narrations every year probably wore him down as well. He has so much energy in Jack and The Pack spin-off, which leaves him sounding pretty bores I. Season 7 as those seasons were filmed back to back.

The same shit happened w Michael Brandon, they made him talk like that in the US At first I thought Paul Larson wrote this episode tho he’s ass at writing Narrow Gauge episodes, he’s the one who wrote the infamous episode from S7 The Old Bridge and wrote Skarloey completely off Whenever it comes to standard gauge episodes those are hit or miss like the S11 episode Gordon and the Mechanic, especially since they brought back Donald and Douglas

LOL what a twist! Nonethless glad someone is breave enough to review S12 undoubtedly one less talk about season in the show and yeah faces didn't aged well. It was revolutionary at the time but look awful now I'm super glad I didn't watched S12 on TV because I'd be fu#king scared seeing those faces 😳

Also, one more thing: If they wanted to go with this, train making Skarloey a runaway thing, Skarloey could’ve stopped going so fast, if they JUST PUT A F**KING BREAK VAN! Why is there no break van on that train? Remember the episode Break Van where the spitful breakvan said “You can’t (leave me behind) I’M ESSENCIAL” But after Season 8, break van’s just kinda dissapeared

Not only is the puppet show special "heavy" but Why is it being carried on FLATBEDS? AND HOW DID NONE OF THE STUFF FALL OFF?

The HIT era did the narrow gauge engines dirty. The boring writing capped with the god-awful soundtrack and Michael Brandon legit trying to make them sound as nasally and ear-wrenching as possible. UnluckyTug actually did a mini fan-dub of "Gallant Old Engine" using the HIT era music and narration. And dear lord, it was legit painful to watch.

Technically, they actually sounded good. Pierce Bronsman actually narrated the entire season but dropped out last minute, and they already animated their mouth movements to his voice and didn't have the budget to do alternative dubs.

Tbh, while the Gullane Era of the show, aka Seasons 6 and 7, were definitely a big step down from the cinematic looking Seasons 3-5, they were still, to a degree, better than the later Hit Era (Seasons 8-12), and the Nitrogen Era (Seasons 13-16). Now, I think between the two Gullane seasons, Season 6 was definitely the weaker of the two. First off, the cinematography/model work. Season 6 was the start of what I have dubbed as the "Dull Era". The lighting is so dull and grey. Next was Alec Baldwin's very unenthusiastic narration. The big bombastic voices he had for everyone got toned down by so much notches. He sounds like he could just care less, probably because he got that nasty divorce between Magic Railroad and Season 6 and was in some deep depression. I'll admit he did give some new characters unique voices, like Salty, Harvey, and he tried to give Cranky the same voice that he did for him Season 5, but it just doesn't work. I'm honestly not surprised Alec didn't return for Season 7. If I got divorced by my wife and I was forced to narrate another season of a kids show because it was in my contract, I wouldn't return to do another season either. Michael Brandon isn't any better. What I hate about his narration is that really, fucking, stupid, high-pitched nasally voice, likely because unlike Carlin, Ringo, Baldwin, and Angelis, he was trying to talk down to kids. If you thought Baldwin's Season 6 voices were mediocre, then you'll be calling them unbearable once you hear Brandon's voices. I will say I much preferred Brandon's narration skills when the CGI series begin, probably because now everyone had their own unique voice actor, instead of just a sole narrator. Honestly, the writing of the HiT Era, with the couple of exceptions like Squeak, Rattle and Roll, Respect For Gordon, and most of the Henry's Forest episodes, were just so childish and boring. They really didn't know how to write Thomas episodes, and this episode really shows that

I remembered seeing Push Me Pull You the first time when I used to own Team Up With Thomas DVD. Yah it’s a really bad episode and I hate how very out of character Skarloey is, especially when he acts selfish to his brother Rheneas.

This episode was the last time we saw the narrow gauge models too so they really sent the Narrow Gauge engines off on a pitiful note

I just realized that we need a series based on CinemaSins for Thomas episodes. You know, like go through each episode and point out goofs, and things that don't make sense within the story.

As a kid who grew up with the late hit era, I basically liked every episode. Even season 12 and the classic seasons. But this episode... Lil me barely knew what was going on and I couldn't care less. I can't watch a second of this now 🤢🤢

⁠​⁠@@antonio4ballondor30Even though I grew up with George Carlin, I will say Ringo is the definitive voice for the show mainly because he brings in the British vibe and makes the stories feel more mature with his voice. Sure, he may not have the same voices Carlin has, but I can definitely tell you he’s a good story time narrator.

2:53 even Walter White hates pretty much the whole episode.

a few things: 1. Good Job on bamboozling me 2. In terms of the train being "Heavy" , That's been a thing throughout the hit era and series 7 with Murdoch, where the narration says that the train is either "long" or "heavy", usually both, when the train is only 6 or 7 trucks long, other times it's three trucks 3. To be fair on Angelis' behalf, he did sound pretty tired during these episode, which, having to do these yearly must've been exhausting. Brandon just straight up was a bad choice for narrator. And those are my thoughts. All I know is is that I ain't gonna have fun watching the episodes when making the next nutshell episode

OMG you really got me with the Flying Kipper pictures! Good job xD That said, I wholeheartedly agree with everything you have said (except the Angelis flander, although I do admit his charisma was lost after Season 6. However, the Jack and the Pack mini-series and Hero of the Rails are exceptions), and I don't even remember watching this episode as a kid, and that is how bad it is. xD BriceGum (rockman138) said it best: "What an abysmal note to end the Skarloey model episodes."

Ironically, both episodes are composed by Robert Hartshorne.

You know what I think the worst part of this episode is? It makes absolutely no sense. OK, so Skarloey establishes that whilst pulling the train at full speed, he "can't stop". I don't know if that's because he's finding it hard to control or because his brakes somehow got damaged during the tug-of-war... yet, when he crashes into Duncan and later Rusty, he stops, and then starts again. OK, if Skarloey outright said he couldn't stop, how was he able to do so? Surely if he was physically incapable of stopping, he would have barreled straight through the bunting and milk and just kept going, leaving Duncan and Rusty's trucks littered around them. But if it turns out he COULD stop, then not only why did he say he couldn't... WHY THE ACTUAL FIZZLING FIREBOXES DID HE START MOVING AGAIN, WHEN HE KNEW HE COULDN'T CONTROL THE TRAIN!? Oh, right, because that all would have involved common sense.

As a fan of the show, I can say that part of the show has a thing that adults can relate to as well. People often look at certain details that shows have and compare them to other details. Like for an example, back when Ringo was in the show, most of the episodes were based off the stories Wilbert Awdry made in the 50’s and 60’s while some were based of his son’s stories of the characters which were more recent at the time. Anyhow, how’s your son liking the videos?

For me Push Me Pull You is the 2nd worst episode of the show, with the worst being Forever and Ever. Push Me Pull You continues the Hit Eras assassinated versions of Skarloey and Rheneas' characters and (while I wouldn't say the CGI in S12 is all bad but definitely shows its age) this episode had very bad CGI. And the episode has the same boring three strikes formula. But at least this episode is just a stupid baby episode that has a moral (although very poorly told and quite cliched) about how bragging and boasting eventually comes back to bite you. Forever and Ever on the other hand is arguably a bigger middle finger to fans than the entirety of AEG. As bad as AEG is and as many characters as they're trying to shove down our throats to try to get us to watch that garbage, none of the episodes morals or scripts (that I've seen, I haven't watched much and don't plan on watching anymore) feel like Mattel is trying to say to fans "life ain't fair get over it b***h" the same way Forever and Ever did. The episode feels like it's trying to teach something but then at the end it throws it out the window in favor of telling fans to "go f**k yourself". My all time favorite episode of the show is Henry's Forest and (if my pfp didn't give you a hint) my all time favorite RWS story is Super Rescue so to see Henry being written off so rushed (and just being written off in general and favor of a character who didn't live up to a shell of Henry) felt like I was being stabbed in the heart and having knife twisted at the same time. Push Me Pull You is terrible and continues the terrible child Skarloey and Rheneas, but at least that was just a horrible, horrible baby episode. Meanwhile, Forever and Ever does nothing for kids and at the same time is the biggest middle finger to the entire franchise and it's not even close.

If I remember correctly, the two episode adaptations of "The Railway Series" that Rev. Awdry disliked the most were "Henry's Forest" and "Rusty to the Rescue."

Ugh I can’t stand Michael Brandon’s voice. Ever since I was a kid who grew up with Classic and HIT Thomas, I could never stand the man. Whenever a classic episode with George, Ringo, or Alec would come on or I’d find my VHS tapes to watch it was always so much better! I couldn’t stand him or anything about the HIT era. The only good things they gave me was Hero of the Rails, Pierce Brosnans 007 narration, and even more love and appreciation for the first six seasons

If I may add an unpopular opinion, I think the worst adapted book was, unfortunately enterprising engines I think that could be an interesting topic for a video, Like tender engines is an obvious wamp, If it weren’t for the visuals and music for escape, it would also be a wamp, and let’s not forget the best story of the book wasn’t even adapted. anyhow that’s my rant, great video it made me laugh, this was enjoyable, only constructive criticism I have is a little less gags in the video, they get annoying after a while, you know the angry and crying people. ok thx for reading, oh and percy and james fruitful day, sucks to by.

Imo one of the worst book adaptations was gordon the big engine. Off the rails and down the mine were adapted just fine but then the other two were adapted in later seasons being very out of place

Thank God when the Narrow Gauge engines returned in BMM/Season 16, they wrote them like their classic Railway Series counterparts. Meaning no whiney baby Skarloey & Rheneas, they’re back to being responsible old folks.

Nah not accepting any Michael Angelis slander. Granted his HiT era narration wasn't great but he was very very good from seasons 3-7 (aka the seasons that matter)

I was about to say how is this bad and then you say Push Me Pull You and I was like "I was about to say man".

I rewatched Push me, pull you and along with the other HIT era SKR and Edward episodes now that I'm older and can see how bad and cringy they were...👎😡😠
