@Pink Velvet a traditional American tattoo of a pinup girl. Typically in 1950s fashion, slightly sexy but also cartoony. Can look really bugged if not done perfectly which sadly doesn't happen often on this show

I would never, ever get a portrait either. Those never turn out right. Every once in awhile one will look good but that's more the exception than thr rule. And these are people the canvas' know. They have to look at their jacked up kid or grandma on their arm forever.

Pony did not deserve to leave AT ALL. Her tattoo was beautiful

If this show is legit then it made zero sense. The first tattoo was sloppy and had oddly shaped facial features, the second was shaded very strange and dark, the third was better than 1&2 except it was colored and shaded inconsistently. The 4th had best lines, most pleasing aesthetic, great coloring and shading. The only negative was it potentially could use more time to saturate it with more color but I liked it as it was. All of that and she had a twitchy client. This is all just my opinion and the criticisms were all based off of being professional artists so I mean sloppy for a person as talented as she is, not sloppy for the average person.

It was the best looking tattoo by far, but on this show they judge a lot based on contrast and how the tattoo is going to look once it heals. The colors were very light so I guess only the outline would be visible after a couple of years, but even considering that she didn't deserve to get eliminated

Title should be: All the times Ash should've got eliminated but the judges were simps for her and the show is rigged.

Yes they did blind judging with a marathon challenge and it was a way better format. They looked at each tattoo individually, the all together to compare them, and the conversation was all about the tattoo, not the artists.

It was also messed up how they would be like "oh so and so definitely did this" if it was good or one of their favs just to find out it wasnt and then theyll be like "oh was not expecting that" Why not? Show gets on my nerve sometimes, the judging isnt consistent. some days they hate color, other days they wish the artist added more, sometimes they hate black, then the next its you need more black, just changes depends on who they're judging not even the challenge or the art itself

It’s seriously a show of favoritism here. I hate how 25 year experienced artists are eliminated before someone who doesn’t even know how to color properly. Ash being kept in for that long is definitely sus

Pony is an AMAZING artist. That rose tattoo that her canvas left on was literally the most beautiful rose I’ve ever seen on skin and it wasn’t even finished. I follow her on Instagram and she literally pumps out AAA level tattoos regularly. Ash m had some of the worst tats I’ve seen and she made it farther then pony, somethings not right lol I think if this show continues, judges should be forced to judge tats blindly so there’s no room for any bias.

YES that was definitely the most frustrating part about her. She got a lot of solid advice from better artists and even past winners and she just basically would tell them to screw off by doing absolutely nothing that they’d say.

Some of their critiques literally made no sense. Like with the face/ship tattoo. They complained about how the hair didn't look natural when it clearly looked inspired by marble statues which have the exact same type of stylized hair that she used in her tattoo.

Big Jaz going home the round before was just as shocking. That's why I think they should have to judge blind every single time. Their favoritism is over the top, nearly every season. They pick an artist, usually a pretty one, and they push that person undeserved through the whole season.

I’ve met Big Jaz, and I have to say when Ryan Ashley described him as intimidating but a sweetheart, she wasn’t kidding. Myself being from NYC, one of his tattoo apprentices actually gave me my first tattoos. And I’m proud of them. Meeting the man himself, he’s 10x more skilled than what he showed in the competition. Plus the hug itself is bear like, so appreciative especially since I was having a rough day

Everyone is allowed to leave a competition at any point for any reason, there's no "special treatment" in that, just basic human decency. If someone left because their grandmother died would you have gotten angry at the "special treatment" as well and would you really have wanted that person to use a needle on someone in all their grief? People have the right to leave, man. At any time.

Respect for the woman that left because you never know what is going on with a individual's mind. Respect to a certain judge for just complementing her and being a respectful person (man). God bless all.

Especially that comment one of the judges made when a contestant said one of the challenge styles wasn't theres and the judge says "you make art right? Be an artist." I would expect an actual tattoo artist to know that there are different styles in art and people specialize in those styles. You wouldn't go to a tattoo artist who specializes in a cartoon artstyle and ask them to give you a realistic tattoo and when they deny you, you say "be an artist." You wouldn't ask someone who specializes in digital art to paint a picture on a canvas and when they deny you, you say "be an artist." That was one of the worst pieces of advice I've ever heard and very ignorant coming from someone who is supposed to be a master tattoo artist.

I’ve been thinkin this a lot too lately. A lot of people goin home for pretty solid tattoos due to pretty miniscule criticisms compared to pretty glaring issues in other pieces.

@@suna2317 I think he was removed because his tattoo didn't really fit the requirement for that specific round. While his was a way better tattoo overall, he lacked the realism base requirement. It's like if you do a really good school project on the statue of liberty but the requirement was to do a project on the presidents of the U.S. May be a killer project but you didn't do it on the right topic so you fail. :/

@Troy Taylor It always sucks when a good artist gets eliminated because a canvas can't sit for the session. I'd proudly wear anything Big Jaz inked. That man is a beast of talent and heart.

I think they were also the same with Tatu Baby as well. I mean they favoriting her so much yet she was very mediocre in season 3 and that was the same with Ash.

@Eva Lilith Exactly! People need to understand that "reality " shows are a show at the end of the day .The producers make the final decisions, feed them lines and create drama . Viewers want to see drama ,pretty girls and good tattoos (sometimes).

This entire show is a good demonstration of how tattoos are subjective. So many pretty tattoos in the bottom and so many ugly ones in the top.

"The way it's shaded gives this tattoo an ominous look" ....okay, and?

It literally looked so badass! I hate when the judges rate tattoos on how **attractive** they find them, they always sound like they are discussing if they'd sleep with the illustration itself!

"I don't do color" I'm sorry... what? Let's go through the list of everything you NEED to be proficient at before going into the competition: 1. American Traditional 2. Traditional Japanese 3. Pin Ups 4. Black and Gray Realism 5. Color Realism 6. New School Those are non-negotiables. If you can do those, then you can swing the others most of the time. Like... this isn't season 1.

Pony's tattoo was absolutely gorgeous

Pony is one of the most amazing artists they've ever had on this show. Shame they didn't let her go further on this show.

That's because the judges are assholes. They should've sent Ash home over her. She was horrible compared to Pony.

The Poseidon tattoo and Pony's tattoo were used to vote them off and they were incredible tattoos... what even is this judging??

as someone who embroiders and does cross stitch, I adore how little some of them grasped the concept for the cross stitch challenge

I think Ash was thinking of crosshatch... but then didn't fully understand crosshatch or how to use it anyways.

10:40 that is one of the ugliest, most miss proportioned, terribly placed tattoos I’ve ever seen. How she wasn’t eliminated I’ll never know

Came to comments right after Pony’s elimination, my first thought is that hers was by far the best. She did not deserve to go home at all, glad to see I’m not the only one 😂😅

I agree. Tbh she was amazing in that season even that unfinished rose was great too. And it would've been great if it wasn't for her bitchy client.

ash slipped by so many times, her work and inexperience should have sent her home so many times. there was obviously favoritism to keep her there because she's a cute young girl. i feel sorry for the artists who were eliminated over her because they wanted a ratings boost from having something young and pretty to watch.

They need better judges who know what they’re doing. People who don’t choose because of bias, but due to skill. They sent home so many talented artists over the ones that genuinely sucked

It's not even just bias. They will focus on factors in small factors over the overall quality of the tattoo and half the time those factors dont even make sense. Like complaining about the hair on the face/ship tattoo. When the face was clearly based on marble statues which have the exact style of hair she used in her tattoo

They're not sending people home because their tattoo was bad. They're sending people home who they don't feel will be audience favorites or so it'll fit whatever narrative they're trying to go for.

Exactly...time for new judges. Judges who can actually tattoo more than one style

I feel like there should be a limit on how many times you can be in the bottom before you're eliminated by default.

I have no idea how Ash made it as far as she did. She should've been gone the first time she was up there.

Jaz is such a good sport. Love that guy. And his work was always good. Just fell short compared to the others

"I hate color, I've always seen everything black and gray" and yet she can't do black and gray. 🤷‍♀ 🤣

I really like big Jazz he is such a wholesome personality. He even shed a tear when Elva decided to quit because it was too much for her. I hope he comes back in another season.

This was the ONLY season where I didn't mind if any of the 3 finalists won. All 3 were very strong throughout the whole competition.

Completely agree. And it helped they were all personable, nice people. There were some crazy immature characters in this one I’m glad got cut early.

@@artisticalex1206 I was rooting for both Dani and Lauren mainly because they didn't do all of the drama BS. They were there to show what they could do when it came to tattoos.

This needs to be judged blind in the future. Judges seem to be playing favourites to an extent

The way they handled Elva leaving just shows how far ink master and reality tv competitions have come. One of my favourite ink master moments. Other faves include that dude who outed a trans girl on survivor and just instantly got kicked off, they didn’t even vote and the host was FUMING. Another one is every time on ink master when they do some extra important tattoos (covering hate, working with cancer survivors etc) they completely drop the rivalry and just have a field day trying to improve their canvases’ lives

Ash was in there for so long! She was always in the bottom and never understood the assignments? Super favoritism. Even if, say, her tattoos were slightly better, having someone in the bottom that many times is a telltale that she doesn't know what she's doing.

Every tattoo has skin trauma…lol such a stupid argument. Ash was on the bottom so many times and she kept “surviving”, that alone tells you she should have been eliminated long before she was.

I'd love to wear Pony's tattoo! That was really nice! and the Medusa! Idc what the judges say, it's my skin and I'll choose the drawing style I want.

I hated when they eliminated the one guy instead of one of the girls. His tattoo and shading of the monkey thing was so much better than the deer and otter(?) thing from the neoclassical animal style

They did the artists dirty by putting a puke emoji in the title. Hell nawww lol

The worst of this season were better than the best of the first

Elva literally broke my heart... I have a medusa tattoo because of traumatic experience I had, and I definately see how doing that tattoo and getting it critiqued could be too much for someone.

Pony was cool. She didn't deserve to leave.

I respect massively how they treated the second lady and respecting her choice and mental health. Props guys!!!

I really want to see Nunez go thru this competition. His critiques are so ridiculous sometimes i want to see him do every style perfect every time

this 🤢 emoji in the title is a bit disrespectful for artists in my opinion. Lot's of tattoo were good, but not enough for competition, but still good overall.

Huge respect for the tattooist who excused herself from the competition. Knowing the competition isn't for you and telling that is huge

Elva’s exit is still one of the classiest and most understandable exits on any show. She didn’t leave when she broke, she left so that she didn’t break and she is a very good artist. Nothing but respect. Big Jazz is also just an absolute sweetheart, and an amazing artist. Honestly his respect throughout the industry and the house speaks for himself and I would love to see him return. Also always nice to see Buba Irwin, he is so kind, so sweet, and deeply underrated.

For some reason the worst are more entertaining than the best.

My thoughts on this one are the same as usual: this would be a lot more fair if they'd judge the work blind every single time. There's always favoritism involved in this show, and when it comes to permanent art on people's bodies, there should be ZERO favoritism weighing in.

Imagine someone tattooing a huge piece on your body and you hear them mumbling: "I taught myself so i don't really know anything, I work by myself so it's not like I have a chance to learn..." 0.0

What the HECK!? Pony’s tattoo was stunning!

Alexis' head was gorgeous and the Medusa was also good. I liked it. To throw Justin out in comparison to the two girls was not fair. That stag looked not correct at the eyes and the nose area and the colour of the snout was weird, the monkey in comparison was anatomically correct, the judges just did not like the colours. That was not fair. I loved Pony's head. It was sad that she had to leave.

Pony going home was a real shame. I realise there’s a challenge they have to try and accomplish but to me making sure the tattoo looks good is the most important thing. That tatt being brighter & bolder would have made it a much worse tattoo…

Ash lasted because she’s a likable character and she’s gorgeous and it’s a tv show and although she is a talented artist i don’t believe it was the main reason she lasted as long as she did

Some of these tattoos are not bad in my opinion I think some needed touchups and some needed to lighten and darker on shading and restructured

Remember, even if they're judge, they still have a subjective take on certain things.

Any artist who says "I can't do style X" should not be there in the first place.

Goddamit by the end of the video Ash clearly didn’t even want to be there. She didn’t want to follow the challenges at that point, and the lack of enthusiasm shows in her tattoos. And every time something is out of her comfort zone she cries. The fact they kept her in for so long whilst better artists were eliminated is just sus.
