    I don't care that Wendell is gone, when Lonzo was healthy (for those couple months) there was a glimpse of the vision, but the picks were the real problem. And once Lonzo went down, it has been pretty clear that we need to move on from Vuc and DeRo. Vuc would be good on a contender. While he is streaky, he is an inside out scorer and a strong rebounder that can work when hidden on defense. But this roster is not good enough to have him as your third guy. Go out and get some picks and get this rebuild started.

    What makes the Porzingis trade even worse for the Knicks was that the main goal of the trade was to clear up 2 max contract slots for 2019 Free Agency (hence why they added the bloated contracts of Courtney Lee and Tim Hardaway Jr. to the deal for an expiring Deandre Jordan). As we know, they did not get any max players and if it weren’t for firing Steve Mills and the growth of Julius Randle, this would look even worse for them.

    About Lillard and McCollum, they were best friends on the same team, similar to Francis and Mobley, so it's understandable why they waited so long to make the right move, as they didn't want to upset their star (especially since Francis declined sharply after that trade, though Mobley had some good years on the Clippers before being forced to retire). Yeah, they waited a few years too long, but I understand why they waited. They really needed to put defensive players next to Lillard and CJ, but put the likes of Allen Crabbe and an old Melo as the third option next to them, which was just awful. You can't build your team around multiple bad defenders and expect to win it all, which the 2001 Bucks were THE lesson (Allen, Cassell, Robinson, and sixth man Tim Thomas, none known for their D, all couldn't overcome Iverson and his defensive supporting cast of Mutombo, McKie, Snow, Tyrone Hill, George Lynch, etc., despite the ref controversies), as well as the D'Antoni Suns, where Nash and Amare, two terrible defenders, were the two best players (and they made their huge mistake by trading their best defender, Marion, for an old Shaq who was a defensive liability anymore. Marion would have helped in the 2010 WCF, where old Grant Hill was their best defender by a considerable margin, but not to a point where he made scoring difficult for Kobe. He then won a ring the next season on the most complete team in the league, with an elite superstar and sixth man, with numerous 3&D players to throw at LeBron and Wade, with an elite rim protector in Chandler, who was more consistent than Haywood and Dampier ever were). So yeah, I clearly understand why they waited, but having a non-defensive duo as your best players, like Lillard/CJ, Nash/Amare, Melo/Iverson, or Williams/Boozer, or even a trio like the Bucks and Mavs big three in the early 2000s, will NEVER result in championships. The saying is that defense wins championships, and the one year that LeBron's Cavs in his second run had good defense (which shows the importance of TEAM defense, as they had Kyrie, Love, and JR playing big minutes and had an undersized Tristan Thompson at center. If the Warriors had a real offensive threat at the 5 like Gasol, Bynum, Towns, Cousins, Embiid, or Jokic to make their three point shooting even more potent, Curry would have as many rings as Kobe now, even with Draymond suspended), they won the championship, and why the 04 Pistons won it despite having no true superstar (they had MUCH better chemistry than the Lakers too, with the Kobe/Shaq feud at its peak).

    L take on the Jordan Poole trade. CP3 and steph had a great +/- when playing together, while Jordan played Awful in an increased role. The reason the trade looks bad now is because cp3 is obviously injury prone and the warriors suck.

    The worst for Hawks wasn't Luka The worst trade for the Hawks was trading for Murray 3 first round picks. We are one of the worst def when they on the floor together. 15th def if only one is on the floor. That why the Hawks drafted PG Kobe Bupkin and tried to trade Murray.

    I feel like you don't understand the Poole trade. Poole had an enormous contract. Paul had a contract with only one guaranteed year. It was to clear up money because the Warriors were spending more money than every single team in the NBA and the Clippers are the only team that's remotely close. The new CBA is punishing and hinders your ability to get players, and this win. Without being a sure fire winning team, their salary absolutely needed to fall. They paid 176.8 million dollars in luxury tax. For reference, the Suns paid the 3rd most in luxury tax at 68.6 million, literally more than 100 million dollars less. Beyond all that, Poole was horrific this year. Even if he wasn't, the trade was a W due to being able to dump Paul after a year rather than paying Poole 30 million/yr for four years (including this year). Poole had one of the worst contracts in the league.

    Still baffling to me that Atlanta traded Luka. Everyone predicting Luka to be a bust. Playing pro at 15(I think) Euroleague MVP at 18(I think). *Can't remember exact age 🤔. But regardless, Euroleague is no joke. How tf doesn't he get the #1 draft pick? Blows me away. Scouts actually believe a USA College player could go to the Euroleague & take over? That kid would get an extreme wake up call. BTW, I believe they still actually play defense in Euro ball. WTF would any of these kids do over there when someone actually plays defense on them? Probably not these fairy fouls over in Europe either. Boys would start crying if they had to play big boy ball .....annnnnnd go!

    Bridges was good before his off court drama, he's also been good since coming back. If you're gonna talk about basketball you have to seperate it from player actions. That's like saying Ja Morant was a good player before his decisions. No, Ja is still talented. You're allowed to feel a way about it, but it doesn't change player stats.

  • @felix9533
    @felix9533Ай бұрын

    Some of these are just plain wrong. Steven Adams was better than Val and his rebounding and defense was what allowed JJJ to win DPOY as a help defender. Aaron Gordon being move, along with Vuc and Fournier, allowed the magic to tank the rest of that season and the next season, allowing them to draft Suggs and Paolo respectively. Jrue Holiday was an incredible trade for the Pels, Getting 4 1st round picks up until 2027 is amazing considering how volatile Milwaukee looks rn, and even if they convey to late 20's picks, jrue only had 2 years left on his contract and probably would have left in free agency. The Knicks Porzingis trade opened up so much cap space for the knicks that they were able to sign Julius Randle and Marcus Morris, who was traded for Immanuel Quickley. It also gave New York the pick that was traded for Quentin Grimes. Without trading Porzingis, the Knicks would have been stuck in mediocrity for another few years, instead of contending like they are now The Spurs Trading Kawhi for Deebo and Poeltl might have been one of the best trades out of a superstar requests out. Out of this trade they ended up with a good young player in Keldon Johnson, and 2 draft picks from underwhelming teams, CHI and TOR. This trade might end up being what builds a dynasty in SA. Raptors, Obv too early to tell, but a guy on the last year of his deal and the Raptors clearly didn't want him bc of his fit with Scottie Barnes, idk why getting 3 first round picks for him and still clearing out cap space is a bad thing. Utah had seen enough of the Spida Gobert pairing, they had maybe the best possible supporting cast around them and they still were not enough to make it past the second round. Blowing it up and getting 5 firsts and Walker Kessler is amazing considering that the TWolves will be giving their picks to Utah when Gobert will be 36 and possibly retired.

    Not to mention that Aaron Gordon was not playing good in Orlando at the time this trade was made so his trade value was extremely low. It's easy to say in hindsight that the Magic could use a guy like AG on their team but back in 2021, the Magic were not getting a better trade for Gordon from other teams and if they kept Gordon around, they're not in a position to draft Banchero and they would still be where the Magic were before this trade happened: mediocre.

    To be fair he had to pick a "bad" recent trade for each team. Some teams may not have a terrible recent trade but he had to go with something for every team.
