As a prior worker for the Marketplace, I can completely agree. I was taxed more at the end of the year than what I made, and they give these weird "encouragement payments" throughout the year that you basically have to pay back later. But that's not the worst thing about it- the worst is that their rules and fat handbook of what you can and can't make is so dense and complicated, there's basically no creative freedom- and there's so many creators on there already making fat bank that they "shark out" smaller creators, basically enveloping smaller teams into their huge teams, destroying any credit to those they're paying maybe $3 an hour to, and then those creators additionally shame and berate any workers that point it out. It's a huge problem and the lack of creativity allowed there is why everything is so trash, because they'll happily allow any kind of knockoff or trash content if it makes them money. It's no longer about building, creating, or reaching your "dream job" anymore, it's about trying to please every single possible person on the planet, leaving you with extremely little wiggle room. Very restrictive and it became so difficult to do anything and cost me so much, I had to leave something I'd dreamed of for my entire childhood behind because of its unstable and restrictive mass of corporate greed. My advice: 1. If you reach your "dream job", remember that we aren't supposed to only dream once. There's more out there, something else will turn up for you one day so don't sweat it if the first thing you worked your whole life for doesn't work out in the end. 2. The Marketplace is full of corruption. I'd stick to Java Edition if you want cool stuff like the things mods add, they're free and if you want to make them yourself, you can literally do anything. Go where you CAN be creative, that's what's important! 3. In the end, a game is a game. No matter how much we complain, Microsoft'/Mojang's wearing money-crossed goggles and not a word of our commentary is going to reach their ears, much less are they going to listen. If you don't want to get stressed out over a video game, just avoid the drama and play the game wherever you enjoy it.

@@WriggleNightbug Eh, for the right model problem, you could install a modchip, though I guess you’re flat out of luck if you’re afraid of bricking your device and don’t wanna pay extra. For getting banned online, there are many ways to make that outcome highly unlikely. I have exosphere (and something else I don’t remember the name of) on my Emunand, and simply block any connections to Nintendo on my emunand. Didn’t get banned yet. As of updating the save on your Sysnand, yes, that always Carries the risk of a ban. Adjusting a save file on your Sysnand is high risk, high reward, that’s the game.

There are ways to download mods for free on bedrock. But they don't work on most devices or are really difficult to download.

if it's a .mcaddon file, it can be loaded onto the minecraft app through the files app on iOS, I am uncertain of other OSs, however. I personally use mcpedl, they have many authorized ports of Java mods and even more unique content.

The most hypocritical part about mods being sold on the market place is the fact that Microsoft will dmca any Minecraft Java mod that is being sold for money, while happily sell mods, my bad, “addons” for large amounts of money.

The worst part about tan $20 skins, is that you can make your own skins for bedrock as well, it’s just slightly more complicated.

Bedrock is decent. I don't like Java's first person camera, and its Redstone but I do adore their shaders, mods and redstone builds. Also, we can make a modloader on Bedrock too, but the process of reverse-engineering is a pain. Edit: personally: bedrock for vanilla, friends, redstone, pvp, coding; java for shaders, mods, community-based events

The fact is almost most of the market place stuff can be found free by some other coders

Bedrock edition is pretty cool, excluding mojang absolutelly fucking up making even minor updates stable, but the marketplace is AWFULL, like before february there weren't add ons on it, which means, that you could only buy maps, skins and maybe resource packs. Tinker's construct is cool tho, and i understand the appeal of making money from content that would legaly have to be free on java. As always: we're talking about a multibilionaire corporation, so the best us, bedrock players can do, is ignore it or get a resource pack that deletes the button.

Pay to play, pay to win, and pay to have fun. all negatives no upside

Not to mention the recourse packs on bedrock!!!! We have no clear-connected glass! We only have a few ugly medieval and realism texture packs! Absolutely ridiculous!

I recently saw the Tinkers construct mod on bedrock. Not having a computer I got exited, I could finally play with it. I bought it and even set up a realm for my friends. The mod was horrible, the first wrinkle was the forge had a set size you couldn’t make it any bigger. I could live with that but it got so much worse once I built the thing. The first problem is that you can functionally only have one thing in the furnace, if you put say 10 iron into the furnace the increase efficiency gives back 12.3 but the only way to remove iron is in 9 or 3 increments. This means you can’t empty it, this would be fine but if I then melt gold the iron keeps removal priority meaning I it no longer functions. I could have lived with this but when I built another one for just gold I realized it was coded wrong or something because all gold turns into emeralds and all emeralds turn into gold. Still I payed money for this and I was determined to make the most of it I would get put the emeralds back in to turn them to gold. Then I realized the multiplier apply’s to already melted items effectively turn the mod into a duper.

Don’t forget that buying a ‘marketplace pass’ gives you access to a supposed 150+ of these mods for free, with which about 95% of which having no use at all.

This is why we need Mojave to allow us to download mods on bedrock. If you go to curse forge there is like only two good ones

It takes some modifying. But as long as you can access root files for console bedrock, you can download add-ons completely free. Same with skin packs and textures. It's a pain in the ass but it works, theoretically...

It does work. I’ve installed addons on my modded switch. However, any large addon will essentially make Minecraft either unbootable, or incredibly slow to start, plus you likely won’t be able to actually use that addon without being forever stuck on a loading screen (I only tested one large addon).

I got an ad for the new marketplace add-ons immediately after this

And *YET* , they kept wondering why we (a Bedrock players) only download third party add-ons, maps, skins, etc.

And that’s why I only ever picked up the free stuff or stuff I knew I liked from before (like the PotC world and resource pack). I’m a Bedrock player turned Java player as of a week ago.

Funfact: all of these mods are free, hell microsoft made a whole file type for them, you can download them online. This has been public knowledge for years, nobody buys anything from the marketplace on bedrock except the skin packs that used to be console because they’re actually 3d rather than 2d pixels added on the external layer

Uh-oh, I can already hear "Feed the machine" intensifying...

Even when they do offer a way to refund, like for example when I had some of my coins spent on random cosmetics during some free store cosmetics event where the buttons said “FREE” only for it to take my coins because they accidentally linked the wrong items… they took literal months to the point I wasn’t checking my emails anymore and then the next day closed my ticket because I “didn’t respond”. Felt insulting when it’s like “Did you think our service was great? :)”

Thank you for actually talking about this! I’m part of the modded community and yes bedrock has all permissions to be able to monetize the mods but most of the mods you won’t get what you would on Java. The create one has most of the machines not in it, very laggy, and has almost no moving blocks. Its terrible

That's why when they wanted to publish my texture pack, I asked to be as reasonably as affordable as possible.

Atleast you can download addons/mods, texture packs, skins, and maps online for free for PC and Mobile users, but Xbox users have it hard because they make it significantly harder to download that kind of stuff.

I bought an emerald tools mod but the couldn't even break stone💀

They're also pulling the same stupid thing that others do in making you buy an odd number of coins then having nothing cost that much so you're left with an odd amount

That's why I use the rewards system, only once I spent my real money on the Market Place.

I played so much of this stuff... I remember that the first map he showed was spellcarft or something.

I think the idea is really good but it was implemented horribly. First of all it is really hard to get the permission to upload something to the marcetplace, the prices are too high, mojang gets (as said in the vid) too much of the money and the criteria for things to be aceepted are awful (for example if you want to upload a texture pack it has to affect EVERY texture in the game, making these takes about a year)

I’m ashamed every time I trudge back to the marketplace to make another filthy purchase

I only downloaded one mod from the marketplace, and it was a “more blocks” mod. It ended up only being a map with some retextured blocks. It was very disappointing to me because I am primarily a builder.

This is what bedrock is stuck with and we have the hardest wither fight. Mojang hates us

Another Bedrock player. It's sad that both Mojang and the Java playerbase hates us. Many Bedrock players are forced to use the marketplace because third-party mods are much more difficult to install. The Java playerbase largely acts like the Bedrock playerbase doesn't matter. The Java redstoners take up all of space in KZread's search for redstone content. If you want to find a Bedrock tutorial for anything related to advanced redstone, you're screwed. Most Java players like to say that Bedrock is weird and buggy. Of course Bedrock is buggy, because every unique feature we have is considered by a bug that needs to be removed. We should be entitled to everything that Java has, because we only ever get the breadcrumbs. We shouldn't have anything less just because we didn't want to spend four figures on a PC.

Pest part is where, if you want to make money with your mods, you either have to rely on donations OR you HAVE to use the Marketplace as Mojang doesnt allow anyone to lock Java Mods behind a paywall

Still better than UGC Marketplace at Roblox taking 30% of every purchase, and 10% from every resale😂

As a main console player, i can confirm the market place will have a special place in hell
