Jennette mccurdy is a great example of some children's reaction to abuse. Jennette saw her mom as wonderful and only trying to help her when everything her mom did was abuse and for selfish reasons. Absolutely. It took me decades to figure this out. I was actually researching why I struggle the way I do, or how I react the way I do. Like constantly apologizing, even if I had nothing to do with a situation. It's a trauma response. Thank goodness for videos addressing the issue.
It's ironic how she wants her daughter to prioritize education over vanity while she uses TikTok filters.

Not to mention that the girl probably felt obligated to be nice to her mom and do what she told her because of a fear that another thing might happen.

This happened in 2015 in my area where a dad took a video of him cutting off his daughters hair for punishment and posting it. She later committed suicide because of this.
I had to take a required parenting course during my divorce. I seem to distinctly remember hearing that cutting off a child’s hair, intentionally posting embarrassing stuff to punish them, etc is considered abuse. Maybe just here in Texas? Idk but I think it’s abuse.

I used to believe that some of the stuff my parents were doing was normal because they made me believe it (and abuse is normalised way too much). I'd always say whatever they wanted me to to avoid punishment and that could be what this kid is doing, idk
it’s not about “being pretty is not as important as being smart”, it’s about the control that she took over that kid when she cut her hair off. she shouldn’t need to do that nor post it online to discipline her kid.
The irony in the mother is how she doesn't educate herself on being a better parent whilst using a beauty filter and has split dyed hair.

I was seriously wondering what people were thinking but the hair she cut off I'm not sure are extensions or not. I went to a school where half the school wore locs or weaves and this was also a form of punishment (not typically by the parents tho if you know what I mean) to get them pulled or cut out. In certain communities, you gotta wear wigs if you want that straight, or even long, hair
@painting_cosplays

@@boxtroll-chan5082From the original video you can tell it’s fake hair that she had cut off, im pretty sure she had just gotten it done and that’s why it was such a big punishment. But i can’t figure out if the wig thing is more of the punishment or to get the daughter to like her again by getting her a wig to hide her hair.
When I was about 6, I witnessed my dad attempt to cut my older sisters hair with scissors as some sort of punishment. It was quite a violent act since my sister tried to resist. She ended up with bleeding cuts up and down her forearms and chunks of hair missing. It’s sad when you grow up thinking those type of things are normal. Everything hit me pretty hard when I started to self reflect as an adult. I hope for this child’s sake, the mom tries to understand abuse and it’s many different forms. Duude this is so traumatic and humiliating for this child. I remember being like 12 years old and crying from frustration bc I was struggling very hard cleaning my room. It seems dumb but it felt like a monumental task at the time. My mom came in with her phone and started recording me, laughing at me, and threatening to post it on Facebook. Nearly 15 years later that's still a traumatic memory for me. I can't imagine something like that happening and then actually posting it on tiktok. What that mother did shows an utter lack of respect for her kid and her autonomy. It's just gross.

That's the thing that really makes me sick. she's gonna grow up, realize what an awful situation she was in, and remember that it was BROADCASTED for millions to see, against her consent
put the redemption arc back up please i want to watch it
“You don’t know the bond I have with my kid” is what my parent claimed around the block for years…years ago before I moved out of the country and stopped speaking to her. Sometimes a kid isn’t screaming and crying not because they are fine, but because they are afraid of “making parent look bad” Add that she’s still a kid, she probably is actually laughing but in ten years she is gonna look back and be like “why did my mother actually do that? Why didn’t I say something? Why wasn’t I as angry about it then as I am now?”
I like how she says looks don't matter but proceeds to wear filters the entire time
It’s always very obvious when a parent is jealous of their child. I think that jealousy on the moms part plays a huge role in how she treats her daughter. Notice when she says “this is my baby, this is ME.” I was like yikes, something felt off about that comment.

and especially with her daughters hair type, it doesn't grow as fast and easy as common hair types which means it probably makes it even sadder since it will take a while to grow out. Even if she had hair that grows back fairly fast, I would be absolutely DEVASTATED.

telling her daughter that beauty isn’t more important than education but then puts an ultra mega blur filter on herself 💀💀
“Why doesn’t my kid love me?”, “Why doesn’t my kid talk to me?”, “Why am i in a retirement home?”
in another video Caleb didn't mention is another TikTok talking about the issue and her daughter was beside her and she was asking her "did I abuse you? do you feel traumatized?" and she said no to all of them with her voice shaking and it was just so sad. She even said "Was this better than the abuse I could've done" and saying that sentence is such an ICK
The way she was talking about her daughter being her "identical twin" when she's not was so off putting. Even worse when she was talking " thats my daughter. That is me, she is me. " as if her daughter was a extention of herself... what tells me that this is more about jealousy than wanting her daughter off of tiktok is the fact that she literally put her daughter on tiktok herself humiliating her 😐 like what- the 'consequence' for what her daughter was doing was completely hypocritical of the action she got in trouble for in the first place.

Same, this is so sad.
I hope this girl finds all the support there is out there for her. I thought I heard something about her getting taken away from the mom?
Calling someone a tarantula is now in my vocab. Thanks, Oompa

Psychologically I wonder and want to ask the mom “Why is cutting hair and posting about it to the public a punishment?” I’d bet you the answer you get hints at humiliation, embarassment, degrading, and stealing sense of self/autonomy. This is also why they do it in the military. This mother has chosen that, instead of physical discipline, she will utilize psychological warfare. Sure, this kid seems okay right now…. She’s probably getting gaslit to think it’s appropriate… “at least I’m not beating you like my parents beat me.” This mother is a narcissist; reminds me of my own mother.
Thank you for addressing this situation, as there is a line between discipline and just pure abuse.

When I was a hairdresser I had a parent come in with their 14 year old son and he had long black beautiful hair. He was like a skater type of kid. Anyway , the parent explained to me that their son had bad grades and his hair needed to be chopped off because of that. It was the hardest thing I had to do that day. He kept crying and I know he will hate me for the rest of his life lol.
My aunt would always tell other people what I do when I’m doing something wrong, I don’t think she does it to embarrass me, I think she just does it to vent but even then it makes me super self councious of what other people think of me now and now I’m a people pleaser and even a push over cause I don’t want people to think of me how my aunt shows how I am. Once I voiced out how hurtful the things she does is, she stopped but even then I had to go to therapy as my over self conscious is always thinking about what people think of me. I can’t even imagine what that child has to go through when a bunch of strangers she doesn’t even know are seeing her ‘getting punished.’ This is how meek and people who don’t speak up are made. When her child grows up and cuts off all contact without saying anything she shouldn’t be surprised.
The mother looks like the live-action Grinch
Honestly, advice from someone who sells chocha or has on OF is probably some of the most valuable advice she could get. I'm sure they have first hand knowledge of what kind of parenting can push a girl in the wrong direction.

There was this kid in 1st grade who made fun of someone with cancer and his parents shaved his head bald and he gut bullied for it for quite some time. but to be honest the kid went from "bully" to a very understanding and nice kid VERY quickly.

See that seems like maybe the only time something like that _would_ make sense, because the punishment directly relates to the offense. It's not just a ploy for control, it's "how about you experience, in a less permanent way, what you were bullying someone else for, and then see if you still think that's okay?"
she literally cut her own daughter hair of because of jealousy, she just wanted for her daughter to look uglier than her and telling her that being pretty doesn’t matter. That’s just insane
Man.. my parents used to beat the soul out of me but at least they didn't post it online 🤣

It’s bad enough to put your kids online for the world to see. But to put AND publicly shame your kids online for the world to see is just absolutely awful. I hope both that mother and her daughter get the respective help that both of them very much need.
Cutting a little girls hair off is some Mommy Dearest type ish.
Man I opened a tab earlier for the "reunion" or whatever video. Now its deleted?
why she look so devious
This is a whole new level of gaslighting.......
she had me at the "at the end of the day" my mom use to say that phrase over and over
destroying someone's appearance is so much worse than giving them a spaken, slapping them upside the head, or anything of that sort concidering the generation nowadays.
This is why the meme. "Stop it get some help." is meant to be around forever
My dad once threatened to shave my hair off as a punishment, I told him yes and to do it and he DIDNT 💀💀🗿
I’m someone who absolutely loves my hair.it’s one of the only things I love about myself so to see it used as a punishment for a small child is just so sickening. Also the public humiliation of posting her hair being cut (I’m guessing I didn’t see the full vid) ALSO WHY WOULD THE DAUGHTER SAY SHE HATES HER MUM WHEN SHES RIGHT NEXT TO HER

I was abused by my aunt and that girl you could tell there's something wrong I mean once you experience it you can tell when somebody else is experience it
I missed the follow ups! I was raised by a violent narcissist mom also. That poor girl. The fake laughing.. triggering.
As a person who has a narc mother i feel bad for the child i didn't understand when I was young either.. poor child.
She is so envious of her daughters looks. She is NOWHERE NEAR her “twin” she’s a 4 maybe 5(w/the filter) her daughter is a solid 9. And her jealousy is what guides her *Appearance based punishments.
“Education comes first” Does she have any proof of hers?
When her daughter says her abusive boyfriend loves her and that she deserves what he did to her... she will have no one else to blame but her parenting.
I hate how the mom starts crapping on women that do $3x work like most of them want to. Like many, many mothers have to do that just to feed their kids and put a roof over their kids heads and she's just belittling them for trying their hardest.
Bro the mom looks like she about to steal Christmas 💀💀💀
some people just don’t deserve social media
I dont know if hair cutting is exactly abusive, extremely questionable, but public humiliation on the internet is def abuse
Single moms abusing their daughters into being their own emotional support will inevitably create a women who is so emotionally codependent with their mother that they can’t keep a man, therefore repeating the cycle when she turns around and emulated her mother’s behaviors to her own future children.
It makes me wonder how the girl’s mom grew up. Maybe her mom used humiliation as “lessons” too
There are instances where cutting your childs hair would be acceptable. For example, if my kid made fun of a person loosing their hair because of cancer, the hair goes bye bye
“I’m highly educated” “my daughter is my identical twin” 😭
This way this mother is so focused on her daughter's education makes me feel like she is trying to live vicariously thru her daughter.

If she was truly highly educated as she claims, she would know that public hair cutting was a humiliation tactic used by colonoizers on the Sikh in South Asia and the Indigenous in residential schools :/
Funny when comedic, respectable when serious
I find it funny how she says certain people can't have opinions lol like people don't have parents and can tell what's right parenting and what isn't
i shaved my hair for charity when i was young and the bullying i got for having short hair was intense luckily i knew the reasons i chose to do it so it didn’t get to me too much but i can only imagine how the daughter must feel
She looks like a oblivion npc 😂
