I think that's how marketing works. Along with the intense fan wars, there was the involvement of fans in the competition, buying albums, tickets, merchandise, voting, and more. Without it, it's unlikely that KPop would look the way it does now: like something between entertainment and a sport for fans.

fan wars are honestly really stupid the people who participate in them make the fandom toxic and look bad, I've seen many times where fan wars happen then their idols come out as friends..its a waste of energy!

This really proves on how dangerous fanwars can get too I mean yes 3rd/4th gen. Fanswars might not get to a physical point...but the wars that happened/ happening online is awful to the point that it might even match to this....I've seen WAY too many online and sometimes even in-person arguments/ "wars" and it wasn't a nice thing to come across. I mean if you think about it now there isn't too many fanwars [ atleast NOW] the only major ones would be between the Big known groups. I feel like ever since we got into 2022 the fanwars really fell to a point where it's actually good and not something to worry about... I mean the fandoms of the newer groups are much more chill and respective [ from what I came across] and tbh this makes me really glad and happy...yes there will still be small disagreements between fans but thats only predictable. I really hope that late 4th gen and 5th gen fans will be more aware of these situations and clear some wrong doings of fanwars.

As someone who has been into kpop for little more than a year now, I’m so shocked on how brutal these fan wars got in the 90s. If I was in any of those bands, I would be trying to help stop the fan war.

And not just in the 90s, I'm a kpop fan since 2009 and it was brutal back then too, the thing is that Internet wasn't that big so not everyone could see the fights xd the only mayor difference that i see is that now the international Fandoms are more chill (just what I have seen) when it comes to idols being humans than fans from Corea 🤔🤔🤔 but this actually makes them fight all the time on Twitter and forums so....yeah, at least i haven't heard of fist fight in a while

New gens can't physically fight because security/ laws are much powerful than before , online fanwars however are hard to control, its honestly beyond disgusting the things I see online , and sadly it's unstoppable! I wish idols take some responsibility too, I believe they have the power to at least diminish the intensity of these fanwars by talking to their fans , I can't accept that they can't affect their fan's behavior even a little .

I can’t help but notice that Kpop groups get the most hate in Korea but get the most love outside Korea.

i like every group or artist!

What's crazy is that people actually are ready to risk their lives and do nothing for themselves for idols who will probably not remember them after disbanding, sure they'll remember their fans, but not each one of them. Also, it's not WWE, it's music. Music is subjective, everyone likes what they like because it's just the way life is, and loving a group's music shouldn't turn you into an obsessed person, don't you have a life of your own? I sometimes sit there and wonder how there are people who dedicate days if not months if not YEARS of their life "worshipping" these idols at this point and forgetting that time is passing and they haven't done anything for their own sake. Hurting each other, spending lots of money, ruining your life just so a person can have a " successful"musical career is beyond dumb, cause all they need is people listening to their music, non of those ridiculous actions will help them, in fact it will make them known as the group with crazy fans. Honestly, I feel like it's worse now, sure physical fights are really horrible and dangerous, yet some people wouldn't have the courage to beat up someone from another fandom as they would attacking them on the internet where they are hidden. It's funny how bold they get online when they can't even look the person in the eyes in real life.

to new kpop fans that said 1 generation and 2th gen of kpop are peace. not at all. we do fight just not in social media. we not doing it online, we do it offline. i still remember get injured by the war. but it such a stupid memory. we also fight and having war in facebook. but limited ppl could access.

This is why nobody can tell me that the bee hive (Beyoncé fandom) is more scary then K-pop stans

I have been pushed out of a fandom because I refused to vote. I am a multistan so sometimes it's hard for me to put one group over another to vote. That was the first time I had gone through something so toxic with kpop fans, though I am aware of the things that do go on. I still support the group I wasn't voting for of course because it's not their fault that the fans behave that way. It's just really stupid that people attack each other of such things.

When just ppl say "I wish things just went back to the way they are" I don't think they meant this 😐 like for real

How sad this was…I blame the entertainment companies because they could of stopped this.

H.O.T now is disband but their contribution in the kpop industry is never forget until now. Sechkies is still active as group under YG but not promoted very well.hope they will be more fans even they are near from the generation gap from other kpop idols. And fanwar is not more aggressive.

Those clips comes from a drama called REPLY 1997(was made in 2012) the plot is about a huge fan of H.O.T, her love interest, their friends, and how their lives evolved till 2012.. its a great drama, really famous and well known for kpopers..also the Ost is mostly 1st Gen kpop music...all kpop generation should watch it... Funfact: Sechskies's leader Eun jiwon act there as a classmate and friend of the main couple😍

it's so crazy to me that even now people haven't learned from situations like this. and bc of social media, people feel braver to say some of the most disgusting and hateful things. the media doesn't help at all either considering a lot of them compare groups whenever they can or minimize the accomplishments of other groups to better hype up more popular groups. i had to step back from properly being in kpop fandoms and just keep my attention on the groups/artists themselves, and it's been a heck of a lot more peaceful. but i just really hope people come to understand just how harmful all of this is. and seriously, if you don't like a group or fandom? just ignore them. social media makes it super easy to curate the things that you're seeing lol.

No one wants to perform for crazed fans. These "fans" do not realize that their actions not only harm other fans but the groups themselves. I remember me and my friend reading an article (forgot what group) where saesangs , including some really young teens, would break into the hotels and put there used tampons and pads in the group's belongings with notes to "be closer with the group". Like calm down and go back to school.

In each fandom, there are some Toxic Fans who ready to fight for any stupid little thing. Vote, chart, album sold, award, #like in IG, #follower in each platform, card price, EVERYTHING!!!!! I dont know why they cant just enjoy the music. All these toxic can somehow push a pressure on their artists and discourage others to join fandom. If u tell them that your toxic can hurt artist and our fandom will get smaller, they dont care and will keep on doing this cuz they believe that this is not toxic and they do this to protect their artists🤮
