What I love is that it’s one of the most enjoyable ways to prove to yourself that you can do anything you put your mind to. It’s both equal to everyone who tries but individually yours all at the same time, and Through achieving things with skateboarding, you look at others doing the same with it, which creates a mutual love and respect for it.. and then that creates community and culture around it which is really amazing. It’s just an incredibly awesome thing that exists ❤️

About a year ago, I was skating my high school, el Camino Real Charter High School, the clip where he rolled his ankle on the ledge tail slide kick flip out, and while I was skating there I roll up to the cafeteria and there he was Tory Pudwell himself with a few other amateur pros. it was really cool to be skating close by to one of the pros! I got some tips and was motivated to 50 that whole ledge off! It was epik! i’ll never forget

@@Inzane0216 Yes you get me, there was Tory, pro, and a few others, one I could recall was this little kid named Filipe Mota and this kid was insane! He was throwing down tricks on these ledges I couldn’t imagine going down at my high school! It was a fun time when skating was the only option. I still skate time to time but not like we used to
Being a parent has made hearing any kid cry for their mom absolutely gut wrenching. That clip was actually the hardest thing for me in this whole video. That being said, much respect to all these skaters in this series for getting back up through all these injuries and sticking with what they love!

It was so gut ranching that I was strait up terrified 😨. But it prepared me for all his injuries and surgeries that has come to be.

What’s amazing about all skaters is the commitment to these tricks and coming back from all of these injuries.
I love these battle scars please keep them coming 🙏🏽 ❤️
Great skateboarder, his eyes shines even when he talks about his injuries. Thanks for the video
Yeah man, I feel you. At 45 I've been skating for 30+ years, but a month ago I was coming down a hill at speed and I was riding just a little bit too fast and loose, looking forward to the fact it was Sunday lunchtime and no-one would be on the hill so I could bomb the whole thing without worrying about sudden braking for pedestrians. Sadly, I clipped a nasty chunky patch of concrete I usually avoid and took a dive at 30mph, resulting in my best collection of injuries in a single setting, six broken ribs, a cracked radial head at the elbow and a broken scaphoid in the wrist. Second time I've broken my ribs but it was a lot worse this time. About a week and a half after impact I slept at a bad angle and depressed a couple of the ribs and then later that day when I sneezed, the rapid inflation of my lungs reset those ribs with an audible crunch. Still, another two or three weeks and I should be good to ride again. I'm looking forward to hitting that same hill again though. I'm not superstitious about things and it's one of the best local hills, so I don't want to lose it as a spot. Now the weather has turned nice it's chafing my arse sat here not able to skate! I don't recommend doing ribs, especially not a lot of them or in several places. It still feels like I've been stabbed in the back of the tit from where the broken ones shifted back into place. On the upside, it's a practical demonstration that pain doesn't have to stop you for my son. While I wasn't able to manage cramming into the school bus with him for a few weeks, we walked in instead, which was a daily total of 8 miles (for me, there and back twice), and the first few days I was making a lot of involuntary noises every time the ribs got joggled as I walked, but I still managed. I wisely decided not to skate until they're a bit more healed though, I don't want to fall on them again before they've knitted together a bit more. If you break your ribs, be prepared for the pain to get worse each day for the first couple of weeks. They don't heal up as fast as arms and legs in my experience. I could use my hand again within a day, and I had more or less full strength in a week, at the cost of some pain, but the ribs are still uncomfortable a month on and while I can lift and carry and not notice it too much at this point, lying down to go to sleep they remind me they're not fully knitted yet lol. Won't keep me from bombing hills though, that's my love in life, my passion and the time when I both think most clearly and don't think at all. It's so visceral, but the cost for inattention or mistakes can be pretty high. This is the most damage I've done to myself in 35 years, and having responsibilities to keep up with only makes it that much more complicated if you do fubar yourself!
Who woulda ever guessed that Torey would be the dude to have one of the gnarliest “Battle Scars” episodes we have ever SEEN 👀 🔥 Such a Goat
My favorite skater/business man. This dude is inspiring
Amazing to see these pros getting back after such gnarly injuries. I pretty much stopped skateboarding after my first major injury which was an ankle roll (more or less ninety degrees, no surgery was required somehow), took almost two months to walk again, and 4-5 months to run and start doing other sports. This didn't stop me from MTB tho, and about a year later, I tried to hit my first proper trail jump and I flipped over my bars, tore a ligament in my foot an had to get surgery, two screws in there to hold it together while it heals. So yeah big up to the pros who get through this kind of crap again and again for the love of the sport :D

Torey goes unreal big. Such a legend
both torey and milton broke their ankles and got surgery so it gives me hope that i can continue skating like them.

I remember seeing the slam when he was a kid at camp and I never knew that it was pudwill but here we are.(i think i saw the clip in a hall of meat compilation 2011 or 2012)
Anyone else never go back to a trick that completely smoked you? I've gone many years without trying a trick again but eventually I got it back
I was today old when i found out the first clip (an all time classic FailArmy Clip) was TPuds :o
Haha, makes me feel better that even him gets scare to try again a trick or a spot after a bad slam... We're all the same. Much love!
Seeing a new battle scars upload will always be one of the best feelings. I constantly rewatch all of these until there’s a new one.
what a legend to skateboarding!

DBC.. Daily Blessings Coming! Thank You ALL for Skateboarding and Everything, Everyday!!
Such a cool dude ! Was a blast meeting him..probably didn't know I knew who he was :D
Out my years watching battle scared man. This one had me f up. Damn
i’ve done the exact same thing sat on my ankle whilst my front foot was still on the board and have broken it in 3 different places all the bones that support the foot ,,so awaiting surgery but will need plates can’t wait to get back on the board tho
i was on a vert ramp few months ago, and as i was trying a simple feeble, I bailed and landed straight on my left ankle. 3 hours later i was waiting at the hospital and it was looking like a handball ball .... terrifying
😀I have similar hardware in my fibula. Spiral fracture, couple of surgeries, metal plate and some screws. Not fun. That was almost 20 years ago now. Snowboarding seemed to help during recovery. The boots are essentially like a soft cast. I hope you have a speedy recovery.
What’s scary about this video is these were injuries on a lot of tricks I could almost do… simple things. As someone whose 30 and just got back into skateboarding it makes me question my decision a bit lol
feel you on the knee stuff, currently in rehab for my second full ACL reconstruction. feels liken i'll never be confident again skating :(

Going to the gym solely for legs really excelled my ACL recovery after surgery. So much so I was feeling great after about 9 months (minus random clicking and popping which is normal) then I have now torn my meniscus trying to ollie over this little grass gap lol. But point is, you do gain your confidence back. Scooter kids getting in my way while i was moving fast caused me to jump off my board to dodge them really helped my knee confidence too lol. Keep your head up, if Joslin, Torey, Prod and a bunch others can skate after knee injuries you can too

You never will. It ruined my snowboarding career, once it tears it will keep tearing if you keep ripping hard. I am on my third tear, with post traumatic arthritis due to all the damage. I switched to surfing once I could not ride anymore but it still tore again. Take it easy or wear a brace, which you won't because they are annoying as hell. Good luck!

What you did on the frontside nose grind.. I did on a backside nose grind and tore all my cartilage from the left side of my ribcage. Still skated for about an hour until the pain really kicked in.
Woow you really must love the skate boarding ☺️ take care thanks for sharing.

fact Torey is mvp of skateboarding stop 🛑 getting hurt 🤕 🤍 I love Torey Pudwill
I am immortalized at my local indoor for being the first person to break a bone and be ambulanced out of the place. The owners still tell my kids when I bring them in.
That first slam is gnarly. Sorry you had to get stitches and that you fell on your hip.
10 MINUTES?! OUH BOIII!!!
One time I tried to ride right into a halfpipe, back truck stuck on the coping and I went head-first 6 feet to my face and shoulder. Broke my collar bone and now skating is scary haha, big ups to the OGs who get back up and rip it
Torey seems like a really cool dude
Dude those screws to for your ankle go all the way though! So crazy. You calf must be killin you dawg
i met torey at tampa pro 21 after i snuck into the VIP area for contestants and their family members, he was sick asf and i even got his signature along with a ton of other dudes on my tampa pro poster i got for free
What a warrior
Amazing Dude ! 👏👏👏🇧🇷
The sound of his arm breaking in Brooklyn has haunted me for years...
1:12 when you get hurt as a kid like a small scrape to the leg people would say “walk it off and stop crying” but a fall like that they would understand why you were cryin

1:55 WTF I literally had the same exact chin surgery experience. I split my chin as a young kid (not skateboarding) and my hospital memory is EXACTLY like his
1:50: I didn't know what a popoose was.....
I remember seeing some these videos of him falling when I was a kid
Gotta hand it to him he’s freaking tough
I remember when I snapped my arm in half broke my shoulder as well and collar bone skating and it messed me up for a good 5 years I hardly progressed at all in skating and had huge anxiety about slipping out for years when I would go to try new tricks...

Uno de los mejores que yo visto sin duda
They don’t typically do surgery when removing pins in the hand. Had pins in my hands a few times, from wiping out and boxing, and every time the Dr. removed them, just pulled them out, in his outpatient office w/o numbing, surgery, or anything.
6:53! Hilarious I remember my mom and little brother coming to my aid when I broke both my arms nobody else seemed to care
Do skateboarders in America have insurance? I mean, in Europe is it pretty normal to have insurance for almost everything (I pay 130 euro a month and I can go to the hospital for pretty much anything (and surgery's)). I know that bodybuilders almost never have insurance in Amerika, and when they tear a bicep they have to pay cash

Broooo I need those Reynolds dude was wearing.
That’s love!
my whole body hurts after watching this
8:50 i have the same plate and screws in my right ankle sat on my right ankle down a 6 stair
I’m just like him lmao if I ever get hurt trying something I become so weary about going around the same place I hurt myself at. And after the fact, I never try to do the thing that I did to get myself hurt at that same spot or any other spot ever again it’s just on to the next stupid but cool thing😂
your last injury looks exactly like my current one bruh😭😭
Damn. He's so good too. If only his bails were as good as his skating itself to keep him from getting so wrecked
