Like another dude above said the sex pistols weren't actually about anything it was just cringey edge lord shit "I am an anarchist! I am an anti christ!" I think Johnny Rotton has even said he never believed any of the shit he said in his songs he was literally just rhyming things and trying to be controversial. Thats lame to me lol

The lead singer isn't singing in her natural voice. She's pushing it to go higher and forcing it to stay in her chest voice, even though it desperately wants to go into a falsetto/head voice. You can hear how hard it's stressing and straining her voice.

Imagine if a boy had written a song with lines like, “How are we supposed to fuck When you’re so dry And when you finally wanna try You lay there like you’ve died And then wanna spoon all night” (yeah, I’m not a songwriter, but I think the point has been made) I think ppl would rightfully be pretty upset about that, and I don’t think it’s any better coming from a female band. That’s some coercive and condescending shit right there, and it’s weird coming from a band that’s trying to fight against toxic masculinity, those lyrics seem more like a band trying to appropriate male toxicity

Rather than developing empathy for the oppressed and the victimized, many people instead let their insecurities and other fears become the dominant driving force of their actions. It’s sad, but as long as our culture celebrates competition over cooperation (despite human beings having more than sufficient evidence to see that we achieve our greatest feats together, and that one great person will always only be as great as their willingness to work with others) we will always see people who are simply waiting for their chance to “even the score”, as it were, by getting the be the victimizer for a change.

As someone who used to try so hard to be a punk, going to hc shows, buying local releases, I gotta agree that, whether the others want to admit it or not, it IS marketing and it isn't always an authentic image, in fact it usually isn't. When people try too hard to personify and represent a musical style, that's when fans start to clown on them, and I think it's because many music fans are starting to realize that you simply can't personify your favorite genres. They're styles of music for one so you'll never be a style of music, but to also try and say you represent it is pretentious to say the least. If you were truly representative of a genre, you would never have to state it.

The only way you'll get introduced to music organically is if you join your local underground music scene. The only problem is getting good recordings can be difficult lol my source: My old punk band opened for a travelling band I'd never heard of before called Lipstick Homicide close 10 years ago, had an absolute blast. I still go back and listen to some of their stuff from time to time. I could say the same about many many other bands I've met in my near 10 years of weekend warrior-ing in the local music scene, that example just seemed most fitting.

@@nathanclark2424 Thats hard to answer properly. What do you mean by good sound equipment? We all played what we had the means to get our grubby mitts on. Our guitar player played a real nice ESP with aftermarket active pickups through a Fender hotrod amp. Our Bass player had a cheap 100$ pawnshop bass he played through this old Carvin 150 watt bass amp. I had (still have) a beat up old pearl export set of shells with various lines of Zildjian cymbals, my best identifiable ones being titanium new-beat hi hats that were given to me. I'd say our equipment was mid-range for the gear that I saw in the local scene. There were kids with well-off parents that had 5 thousand dollars worth of drum set alone in their pop-punk band. Other bands with guitars made out of spare parts and no resonator heads on their drums.

@@juliusebola9389 a little late here, but hi there! incels are considered to have toxic masculinity because of these things: 1. they refuse to seek help from others, even though a lot of them know that they're not going through a good stage in their life. (i would assume most of them would be aware since they label themselves as incels.) 2. They shame sensitive men & boys and they avoid any intense emotional expressions. (i.e they believe that men shouldn't cry as it's 'too feminine' and that it makes them a soyboy.) 3. they crave (OR in some cases, DEMAND) sexual intimacy and intellectual dominance. 4. They devaluate women, seeing them only as sex objects and lower beings to men. (a popular theme in the incel community is where they dehumanise women, calling them femoids and such.) Most believe that women are to blame for incels not being able to get laid. 5. This kind of circles back to no. 2, they condemn anything feminine within another man, or they equate having affection for another man as being sexually attracted to them. Being an incel and having toxic masculinity come hand in hand. The things I've listed are things that define toxic masculinity. Sleeping around often and being successful with women as a man shouldn't immediately be deemed as being toxic masculinity unless that man does those things above. By definition, an involuntary celibate is a man who struggles with having sexual partners even though he wants one, so he blames everything on everyone else rather than acknowledging that maybe HE might be the problem. But, people need to realise that not every man who struggles with getting sexual intimacy is an incel So, if you AREN'T those things that I've listed, you technically don't have toxic masculinity. It really all depends on what you do and how you treat women (or just people in general) around you. Not how many partners you have. Anyone who says otherwise, and I'm saying this as respectfully as I can, is wrong and should do more research on toxic masculinity instead of throwing it around like a buzzword at any chance they get just because they saw it once on a random internet post. Basically, whenever someone accuses a man of being an incel, I'm going to assume it's because the dude was being a prick and misogynistic. I apologise if my comment didn't make any sense, I tried my best though.

@@juliusebola9389 I don't know any feminist who would call a man abuser or toxically masculine just for being promiscuous. You can be the most masculine man in the world. As long as you don't reinforce the idea that someone is less of a man if he is not masculine enough, you are not toxically masculine. Just masculine. Or you can be a really feminine guy or not be a guy at all. If you shame men for not being masculine enough in society's standarts, you are reinforcing toxic masculinity. Opposite of an incel is not automatically toxically masculine. An incel is probably reinforcing toxic masculinity though, I've browsed through enough incel forums to know that. Also, I haven't accused anyone of being an incel. I would call them out on their incel ideas but that isn't the same as labeling them as such.

The thing with new bands "crashing" into a scene always reminds me of Linkin Parks backstory, when people startred saying they're fake and have a huge team of people behind them controlling them creatively and later it was proven, that they are actually legit as in them doing almost everything by themselves. Based on that, I always give new bands some slack and see what it develops into, but when it comes to backgrounds like trampstamp and the quality issues you spoke off .. it starts to smell like overproduced casting bands really fast. Should you hate on the band ? No. Should you hate the people behind the scenes ? Most of em just do their jobs. What you really should do is criticise and expose the higher ups behind them, using them as a front for a marketing scheme. On that note : Are there completely LAB-made bands that are actually good ? Look at the korean pop industry. They are produced so its actually a form of good pop. Not great, as it lacks authenticity and deeper meanings, but its very well made. People are trained singers and dancers and their lives get focussed on delivering perfect products (which has some issues attached to it, like the "no-relationship" contracts and it also leads to them being too perfect). Also their whole team is focussed on them not being shitty by technical standards.
