A few obseravtions from this: 1) All these kits actually look pretty good when held up in next to a shirt of prawns 2) I agree with the 'bruised banana' being overrated, and very surprised at the high esteem it is held in by Arsenal fans given that iconic status of it's predecessor's two title wins. I suspect there's some historical revisionism going on here, probably by people who weren't around when it was. I remember the shirt forever associated with a team meekly surrendering their title and losing to Wrexham in the FA Cup. Plus it most certainly was not called the Bruised Banana back then. Bananas go brown not blue for start and they do so not in a neat arrow pattern. No, for those of us in the North London area in 1991, who don't support Arsenal, this kit was always referred to as the 'convict kit'. An unusual choice for a club given the record and reputation of some of the players at that time. 3) I don't think Goalkeeper kits should ever be counted in these lists, otherwise it would probably be just a list of goalkeeper kits - and maybe that prawn one. I'm not quite sure I follow the logic in what you were saying about it cursing the England team. It wasn't worn in the Spanish game, that was it's equally garish yellow version, it was worn in the defeat to Germany. Surely defeat on penalties is enough of a punishment/curse. I also don't remember these riots before the tournament. Only the ones after that game! 4) I probbaly don't want to get involved in this, but isn't Mexico's location of question of symantics? Central America is a region whereas North America is a continent. So it's in the region of Central America and the continent of North America. For this purpose I think FIFA is probably more concerned with continents, or more specifically, FIFA governing bodies: CONCACAF. In which case USA 94 was certainly not the first.

The early 90s had some amazing football shirts... especially umbro and Adidas...but around 1995 everything got worse i admit
